My experience has ranged from a single guy with ropes and a chainsaw, to a dozen men with heavy equipment deployed by a general-like figure barking orders and managing the job. The one redeeming part of my experience with The Lumberjacks was that they were able to get my large dead tree removed relatively quickly in the midst of a global pandemic. Originally it was going to take several weeks for them to arrive. But when I asked if there was any way to expedite the process, I was told "yes" if I was willing to pay a rush charge of $50. On a job that was going to cost over a grand, that was the bargain of the decade. The Lumberjacks brought a three person crew along with a lift that looked a little bit like a tank. We walked around the property to talk about other work I wanted done beyond the tree removal, and was quoted a price on the spot. I agreed, and the crew spent the rest of the day cutting wood. After they were done, I asked to be walked around to inspect the work. What I didn't see at the time was the damage that was caused to my property. I spoke to someone at my insurance company. They told me to call the tree trimmers. After calling The Lumberjacks to discuss the matter, I was unceremoniously directed to some fine print on the bottom of the estimate that said the company was not responsible for damages, or some such. Well, that just sucks. Now, by solving the problem of the dead tree, I have another problem to solve. And we're still in the midst of a global pandemic, which just makes everything harder. This was not the kind of experience that would encourage me to call The Lumberjacks again if I need additional tree work, nor would it give me the confidence to recommend them to others. I'm sure they work on lots of houses without doing damage. I'm sure mine was a rare fluke. And ultimately, it's less about the damage itself than it was about how this unfortunate situation was handled.

Weeks later, I contacted the company asking when the service would be performed because I had received no completion notice, no door hanger, and saw no evidence that the work had been done. I was then told the service had actually been completed a month earlier and my card was charged. When I raised concerns, the company relied on GPS records showing a truck at my property but could not provide photos from my property, despite telling me that photos are normally taken. What disappointed me most was the way the issue was handled. At no point did anyone offer to come to the property, walk the lawn with me, inspect the results, or independently verify my concerns. Instead, I was left with a charged credit card and no confidence that I received the service I paid for. Most importantly, there was never any visible evidence that the aeration and overseeding had occurred, and there still isn't. More than a month later, the lawn shows no meaningful signs of new grass growth, improvement, or change. Whether the work was not performed or was performed so poorly that it produced no observable result, the outcome was the same from my perspective: I paid for a service and saw no evidence that it benefited my lawn. They help maintain trees, fertilize, new tree…read moreplantings and installed a cable system in our giant white maple tree to keep it safe, add strength and help add years to its life. The employees are so knowledgeable and their goals are for tree health, not cut down and remove. Although if there is a situation of a very unhealthy tree, the first step is discussing a plan on how to make it better. Removal is last resort, so when that is needed - they are professional, safe and clean. They provide info on native species to replace any tree if they were removed or if you want to add more trees. Always check with your city BEFORE removing trees, you usually need a permit and if you know ignore this rule and are caught later - the fines are HUGE. (This didn't happen to me, I have read this directly from my townships website.)

I was referred by a co-worker for a much needed drain for my backyard. The city of A2 has already put in storm drains but after years of erosion I wanted a French drain and my back yard to slope towards the drain . Although the work ethic seemed ok at first there are a few things that lead to this review. 1. I have pallets that my daughter and I collected over time so I could have a raised bed garden. With severe arthritis in my back a raised bed helps me immensely with the care of tending to it. I specifically told Ms. Conway and her workers NOT to take them and why. They removed them anyway and when I brought it up she condescendingly said she thought they were trash. What she thinks shouldn't matter because she was told NOT to do it.2. She ripped off the roof to my dogs house because "There were nails hanging off it and I thought it was dangerous" again with the thinking....If she cared so much about my dog how come 3 weeks later the roof still had not been replaced? Also she was hired to install a French drain and bring in dirt NOT address my dogs house.3 and my 2nd BIGGEST complaint, She went $1,100 over budget without permission! and 4. my BIGGEST complaint...the drain KIND OF works and she didn't slope my yard right and now the water is pooled around my house worse than it was before I spent $3,600 on a $2,500 budget. I called her after a heavy rain in Nov. (the 1st real rain/snow factor) since this was completed in Sept. to which I will say she immediately responded and added some more mulch and installed longer drains. After this last snowfall the longer drains are now submerged in water and my back yard is a soppy mess. I called three times to which I was ignored until I threatened a lawsuit to which she texted me saying she wasn't responsible even though her work didn't help anything if anything it made matters worse. She also stated that she was no longer interested in working with me because I wasn't very nice to her. Gee really? I was going to sue her but the money I'd have to pay for a retainer for a lawyer I'm going to spend getting dirt hauled in and slope it myself. Oh and the dog house roof? I had to threaten her with putting the final payment in escrow to get her to come back out and fix it (which she left a hole) . 5. The trailer her workers used destroyed a little garden plastic fence I had in my front yard. They also used my landscaping rocks for a behind the tire brake rigging system and when they left didn't even return them to my garden! Just left them sitting in the driveway. Lazy and sloppy. I didn't even get an apology for that one. Nothing but excuses and overcharges. If you want to get ripped off take your chances but take it from me, she's very unprofessional and you'd have to stand there and watch them because they destroyed my property with no accountability. A horrible experience.
