Backstory: I had a tree branch fall and damage my roof. I had called Mike Zelenka at "Arbor Ace Tree Service" for a tree inspection. After looking at the tree, Mike noticed some structural issues with the trunks of the tree. He pointed out how there was actually three trunks and showed me where they joined together and how that would be an issue. Upon further inspection he noticed a cavity where two of the trunks came together and could tell that bugs and other plantlife were living in that area. Mike had presented a couple of recommendations, with the best one being to remove the tree, because, while we could have cabled the trunks together for a little better support, the main problem would still be there. We decided to go with the recommendation of removing the tree and we're extremely glad we did; the cavity that Mike noticed was much larger on the inside and went all the way down to the base (see image). The tree would have fallen. We had the inspection occurred on a Friday, and once we decided what to do, Mike was able to get us scheduled on the following Tuesday. What also impressed me with Mike was, when inspecting the tree, he noticed a rotten limb above my neighbors driveway and then took the time to alert them of the potential danger if and when that limb would come down, not just to their vehicle but to themselves. Tree Removal Day: Our tree was quite large, over 50'. To get it down quickly and safely, Mike brought in "Z Tree Experts" to assist with the removal. We had a crane with a claw to grip the limbs, a person in a bucket truck to make the cuts, and a grinding machine for the branches. The tree was on the edge of our property line and the crews needed access to a neighboring yard for the bucket truck, and the crane was along the street. Wherever the supports for the trucks were extended, sheets of plywood were laid out to protect the area. Mike also made sure it was okay to utilize part of the neighboring yard before coming out. Both crews were amazing, the coordination between the two was seamless, and the tree was down in the same day. Not only was the service they performed excellent, but also their professionalism while on the job. After the tree was removed, the crews thoroughly cleaned up the area; and not just my roof and yard, but those of my neighbors as well. After the stump was removed, Mike and his crew took great care to level, soil, and seed the area, and you cannot tell that a tree was there and taken down today. Working with Mike was great! His knowledge really shows, his communication is excellent and he was very responsive with any questions we had and what needed to be done before the job started. I only dealt with Mike on the details of the tree removal, but I highly recommend both businesses for the work they performed. Now that the tree is removed, Mike has also given us recommendations of what tree(s) to plant in our yard and we'll be looking to him in the future to do this work. read more

A few years ago I learned the hard way not to choose any home service provider without a personal recommendation. However, when I was in need of a tree service and did not have any recommendations I hit the internet. I searched for credentials. I knew I was looking for a certified arborist, so that narrowed my search. When I came across Arbor Ace, I also learned of an additional credential, a NJ certified tree specialist. It turns out the Mike holds both of these credentials, along with a college degree in the field. Credentials: Check. The next most important thing to me is a provider who cares about what he does. Arbor Ace's website also showed me their involvement in the community. They told the story of rescuing a cat who was stuck in a tree 40 feet above a river. The local police and fire department were unable to help, but there was Mike, up in the air saving the cat! That won millions of bonus points with me, because there is no bigger animal lover than myself. Provider with a heart: Check. I had to take a chance on friendliness and reliability, but let me tell you, 5 stars on each of those too! These guys are great. From the moment I met Mike #1 on the phone, he was friendly and helpful, going out of his way to come to my house that very day. He took the time to look at my entire property and shared his knowledge and advice for every tree in my yard. When the full crew arrived the day of the job, they did not disappoint. They were prompt, friendly, courteous, and professional. I had no idea how much was involved in their work for the day, and let me tell you they are worth every penny. I have been burned in the past, and learned the hard way that you get what you pay for. Their price was more than fair for the work they provided. They left my property cleaner than before they started. I'm sure they made my landscaper's job a little easier when he came to do my spring cleanup the next week. Arbor Ace Tree Service did the job right! I made an emergency call to these guys when a tree came down on my house. They came out the very next day to remove the hazardous part from my house and make my yard safe. They took the time to perform the job correctly as to not cause any more damage than what was already done (there were two very big, very expensive windows located directly in the work zone). They then came back the following week to remove the rest of the tree as well as take down another huge dead tree. They performed outstanding work removing the trees and grinding the stumps. They even ground down extra stumps/roots that were left throughout the yard from the previous homeowners tree company. Mike, John and the crew were knowledgeable, careful and priced fair. They cleaned up after the work was done and left my yard as if they were never there. My flower bed located at the base of one of the removed trees still looked as beautiful as it was (for I expected it to be flattened due to the area it was located). Overall I was extremely pleased that I contacted this company to do my tree work and I will definitely call them again in the future when more tree work might be needed. Mike and his team at Arbor Ace Tree Service were working at my neighbors place for a large tree removal. Initially what caught my eye was their level of cleanliness, as we live on the main section of Allwood rd, one of Clifton's busiest streets - and the trees on Allwood famous for their size. This included their vehicles, machinery and crew without having to block any roadways; safely placed in a heavy childrens area. I had some issues with some of the neighbors backyard trees crossing into our power and communications line coming into the house, and I wanted to inquire as I was impressed just by what I saw. Mike was approachable, extremely professional and stopped what he was doing to answer all my questions and in turn take a look at my issues - assuring he could care for but making sure I was aware he'd be caring for his initial customer. Amazing company! Mike and his crew, gets the job done! I had massive limb break away from my oak tree, during the recent storm. It fell between my yard and neighbors. I can't thank the team at Arbor Ace enough for their quick response, professionalism and highly-skilled work to remove a large section of a 100+ year-old oak that fell on my and my neighbor's property. They were on-site within the hour--on a Saturday morning no less--to assess the damage and begin the work of removing what had fallen and the remaining part of of the damaged tree that still stood, but was still at risk of falling. They meticulously and safely removed it section-by-section using a high-tech crane stretched over two houses without causing any further damage to my or any adjacent properties. We hired Mike the first time 2 yrs ago after seeing him do great work across the street at our neighbors property. He removed a very large tree in front of our house with ease and safety. They did a great job cleaning up and making sure our other shrubs and trees were intact. Our block was hit by a tornado. Our home was lost to the massive oak tree's on our property. Arbor Ace was one of the first responders. They showed up on a Tuesday, the night of the storm. I actually flagged this company down as they were removing a downed tree for my neighbor. I wanted to see if they could help me. They helped me out and were very professional! They quick efficient and nice. They were also very knowledgeable. I asked them about other plants on my property and they pointed out some errors I made by doing things myself. Arbor Ace responded promptly to my call for getting an estimate on removing a dangerous tree limb. I was happy with their quote and scheduled the job for a few weeks away. Over the holiday weekend a storm tore the tree limb and turned the job from 'sooner rather than later' to "Emergency". Arbor Ace came and took care of the limb first thing. They carefully lifted this huge tree truck out of the pool in one piece so that it would not do further damage.
