Finally found someone who can style my very thick hair! Arnil is meticulous and can artistically make a game-plan right away when you tell him what type of hairstyle you'd like to achieve. He's really good at what he does, which I guess comes with years and years of professional experience. All these and the fact that he's really nice make you sit comfortably on his salon chair while waiting to be prettified. I've gotten my hair color done on the East coast for years, and was looking for a salon while I was back in town in the South Bay, and am SO happy I found this place (thanks to our fellow Yelpers). Arnil and Natasha both did an incredible job making sure the length of my cut and tones in my color were exactly what I wanted. We all know how important this is, especially for haircuts, as I'm one of those people that doesn't ever want more than a trim to my hair and am always nervous it will be shorter than anticipated. However, they were extremely transparent throughout both processes and made sure that was not the case! Arnil, such a miracle worker. Can't believe how he was able to transform my daughters's hair to look normal again. Brought her to one small, would say not an expert on balayage and ruined her virgin hair. So decided to take her to AR Salon and hoped he can fix it. And boy did he work his magic. First time at this salon had an appointment with JD and he did such an amazing job to transform my hair from a dark brown to a light ash blonde with highlights to blend in my natural roots. It's been a year since I moved back to sunny Southern California and I've been to 4 different hair salons...just trying to find "the one." I think I've finally found it! In talking to my stylist, JD, AR Salon has been around for at least 18 years. They participate in hair competitions, attend hair conventions, and are constantly looking and learning about new styles and products-- they really care about keeping up with the current styles :) Anyways, I came into AR Salon looking for a trim/cut and full color. JD spent a few minutes looking at my hair, asking some basic questions (likes/dislikes...and even what I disliked about prior cuts so he could make sure NOT to have me experience it again). Then we went straight to the coloring. Our first go ended up with my roots being too light-- no worries though, JD apologized and went back and we started the process all over. JD really took his time and made sure not a single strand was left uncolored :) and this time, everything came out great! We found my color! As for my cut, my style is fairly simple and straightforward so a simple trim was all I needed. While I admit the visit took a bit longer than I expected, but honestly, I'd rather spend the time and have it done right than vice versa. The only downside is the location-- you'll likely have to find metered parking, which limits you to 2 hours (and they're pretty strict about enforcing it). I ended up having to run out halfway through and put in more money. It was all worth it though. read more

My boyfriend scheduled me an appointment here since it was a convenient location. The services were good. No complaints there. Joe was really nice, good at his job, and had only positive things to say. The stylist next to us (the owner, I believe) shared a story with her client and me about a prior incident with a previous customer. Her account of the situation was so opinionated and begrudging, that I was left with an impression that the studio is lacking in any sort of customer service. Again, my services were good - but if the were trying to retain new customers as regular customers, I suggest they practice some censorship. read more

I drive all the way from Studio City to get my hair done at AR Salon. They are AMAZING! Beautiful location with easy parking down in Hermosa Beach. I have super long hair and have had different salons take FOREVER to update my color, but AR Salon not only did it quick, but did a better job than places I have paid double the money at. They used an Olaplex mix in the hair color to help prevent any damage and I have never loved my color more!! They also did a great cut to refresh my whole look, without changing it too much. Jim Morrison was once quoted, "Some of the worst mistakes in my life were haircuts." The same goes for me too, but those terrible haircuts would have never existed or ruined past awkward yearbook photos, or prom pics if I had gone to AR Salon. Before I found AR, I used to pay $50+ for a haircut at franchised salons in the mall only to leave with choppy hair and uncut split ends. Enough was enough, and luckily I had the opportunity to work in Hermosa Beach where I found Arnil. The salon has been voted in Easy Reader's "Best in the South Bay" for years and it's no wonder why - I leave with fabulous hair every. single. time. My stylist here is Arnil (the co-owner) and his hair chopping skills and eye for the perfect cut & style for his clients has changed my life. I've never had so much volume or bounce to my hair since Arnil. I have no idea what I'll do when I move out of California since I no longer trust anyone with my hair but him! Every stylist here is superb at their work since they begin as assistants to the owners before becoming a stylist at the salon. It's a hard test to pass. A friend of mine goes to Ashley regularly and she has amazing hair as well. I showed up on AR's doorstep for the first time with terrible hair. It was long, dry and a multitude of various hues ranging from black to blonde....all on the same strand of hair. I sat down in Arnil's chair to have my hair (and life, cause lets face it ladies our hair is practically everything to us!) changed forever. Arnil was the first and only stylist to even attempt at correcting the damage that so many stylists before him caused. Most people would just try and color over it with one color. Not Arnil. No. He busted out six different colors and literally painted each section of my hair until it was uniform. By the time he was done he said it was a vast improvement, but still wasn't up to his satisfaction. He told me to come in again the following week so he could make it perfect.....at no charge!!! Needless to say I've been a loyal customer ever since. I truly appreciate that he takes the time to listen to what I want and he offers his opinion on how to best achieve what I want. I know I always leave that salon feeling like a million bucks. Every time I go I get an awesome salon experience, something that I'd never had before. I've even got my husband going to Arnil. He used to be a supercuts kind of guy and didn't understand why I would pay more than $15 to get my hair done. After his first cut with Arnil he said to me, "I get it now. Arnil is an artist." Been going to Arnil for two years now. At 49, I've been to some of "the best" stylists in Beverly Hills and New York. Without question, Arnil is the most talented colorist and stylist I have ever had style my hair. His color technique allows my hair to still look great even with two inches of outgrowth. He is so meticulous with his cuts - I've never had someone so thorough and detailed, and it makes such a difference. My hair moves so well. He is like a maestro for hair - each cut is a work of art. This is the first "real" professional salon I've ever been to. Jenny was great! She was honest about what would and wouldn't work with my hair and sincerely suggested things that she thought would improve my experience (and hair). I'm usually not as stoked on my hair like I was yesterday. I couldn't stop looking at myself in the mirror & talking about how much I loved it! I would recommend Jenny 100x over. Only four stars because Jules isn't there anymore. As a guy, I like getting my haircut just about as much as I like going to the dentist... That changed when Jules started cutting my hair. She is great. She's so good that I categorized it as a minor life crisis when I called AR to make an appointment and she was no longer there. They offered to have another stylist cut my hair... but I just couldn't do it. Nothing against AR. Seriously, it is a very nice upscale salon with great prices... and it's at the beach. I have been searching for a hair salon in the South Bay since because I was tired of having to drive to the westside. Read so many reviews about AR Salon and finally booked an appointment online. I wanted warmer colors in my long, dark hair but I also wanted a more natural look. Heather took the time to look at my hair and sit dow to chat with me. She did an AMAZING job and Arnil went out of his way to pitch in which made my first experience at AR Salon even more WONDERFUL because they really make you feel SPECIAL. The color and cut that Heather gave me turned out beautiful and I have been given so many compliments.
