One day, my car decided to stop in the middle of the street, in traffic, and wouldn't turn back on. How awkward and stressful. So we got it towed (shoutout to AAA!) to our regular mechanic. He looked at our car, ran some diagnostics, and couldn't figure out the issue. He ended up playing the guessing game of, let's try this and see if it works. All at my expense. Guess what? It didn't work. So they wanted to try something else. At my expense again. This time I said, sayonara, I'm done playing games. So, my husband and I looked up other mechanics in the area and read their reviews. We came upon a new mechanic down the block from our home and took our car there. Although they were very friendly and helpful, they also could not figure out the problem. So, back to square one.
Finally, my husband came across the online profile for Monclare Auto Repair. He called them, explained the situation, and they told us to bring the car in, which we did. They ran a full diagnostics test on the car and sent a link to view the results via text. The test they ran was so thorough, and the results were equally thorough, including pics to better understand the issue. Then Pedro called us to go over the results. We discussed which repairs required immediate attention and which were not as immediate. Pedro was very patient and answered my 47 questions. He explained everything in great detail and was completely transparent. We finally agreed on the repairs we wanted to get done that day, and Pedro and his team got to work. Another cool feature they offer is that they update the original link they sent, with repair updates. For example, they upload pics of new parts they purchased, as well as pics of the new parts installed. That way, you can follow the progress in real time. When it was time for us to pick up our car, we went in and met with Pedro. He explained all of the work they completed, the entire process, showed us pictures, and answered my additional 24 questions. All very patiently and kindly. My husband and I immediately both knew that we had found our new permanent mechanic.
Since that initial visit, our car has run smoother. We have taken it in twice since then, once for a routine oil change ($30 cheaper than our old mechanic, and way faster turnaround!), and once for additional work that needed to be done (yes, our car is a hot mess). Each time, Pedro has explained the process thoroughly and patiently.
Dealing with car issues and repairs can be extremely stressful and expensive. I have dealt with many different mechanics and was beginning to become a skeptic. I truly believe Montclare Auto Repairs has changed my perspective. Our experience with them has been extremely positive, and all we have received from them was honesty, transparency, and hard work. I 1000% recommend them!!
