Let me start by saying if you see the bad reviews they're all over a year old. About 6-8 months ago, this place has new ownership and management. I discovered it because I've been following FordBossMe on YouTube for a couple of years. The channel was, and is, hosted by a man named Rich. It originated at a Ford dealership where he was a Master Technician. It was obvious he was knowledgeable and CARED about the work he performed on customer's vehicles. Since I started watching the channel he got an opportunity to partner up with the new owner of this place. The Ford dealership he worked at was too far for me. Brighton is much closer so I gave it a try for some maintenance I needed. I cannot say enough about the experience!! Rich and his team did a great job. Wow ...just recommend a friend here and I am extremely surprised to see theses recent bad reviews. I used these guys to fix my car to pass a failed emission test. They worked on it and it passes. Plus the lead mechanic was up front with me about what could go wrong and if that happened I wouldn't be charged for any parts that were ordered. l was referred to Brighton, they claim that they were going to wash my engine, I had taken my car to another foreign and domestic auto, they did not do the job correct. When I had brought my car there, there wasn't any check engine lights on And my car was driving smooth. As soon as they called themselves, repairing my car, my Mercedes was sounding like a jallopy. My car gave Bill a hard time, but he didn't give up until the problems were fixed. He was persistent and made me feel my car was in good hands. The gas pump, gas filter, brakes, and exhausts leaked were repaired. I will definitely take my vehicles back to them for service. read more

But oh i wish i listened to the reviews! they had my car for over 2 weeks and didnt fix the problem! instead of them to tell me from day 1, they kept the car for 2weeks and still charged me like they fixed it! i took it to my uncles mechanic and he got the job done in 1 day! speaks a lot about the lack of competence of these guys! read more

I rarely write reviews even when work is bad, but these guys, these guys just topped the list! so, i was going to take my audi Q7 to my regular mechanic because smoke was coming out of the hood but not overheating. My guy already told me it was because of oil leaking on a hot manifold. But when i went to start it one morning to drive to the mechanic, the battery was totally dead! so i called a tow truck to tow it to my mechanic, and when the tow guy got here, he said he knows my mechanic and its expensive, says he knows a good place and then recommends these twats called Brighton automotive inc! He seemed like a honest guy and i know my regular mechanic kind of overcharges so im like cool, lets take it to these idiots! (But now i realize the tow truck guy is in cohorts with these idiots) If anybody recommends this place to you, say a BIG NO! because thats the trick! im sure he got a kickback. Anyway, we get to Brighton workshop and the old man (i pray he dies in his sleep tonight!) Bill checked it out, fixed the battery (although charged me $700 for new battery and replacement, thats ridiculous already) and then he checked out the main thing, why the car was smoking under the hood and said oh "its an exhaust leak blah blah blah" and he also said "But there is also an oil leak" im like yes i know that, but this smoke coming out the hood, that exactly is causing it? is it the oil leak or the other thing?, he said its the other thing "the turbos, exhaust something something" im like are you sure, he is like ABSOLUTLEY! im like, so if you fix this, the smoking will stop? he says "absolutely! 100% the smoking is not because of the oil leak! i have been working on this cars for many years, trust me , i know!". Im like cool, how much is it to fix, he gives quote of $2,000 im like wtf!!!!! but cool he seemed like a nice guy, old man, funny so im like whatever, fix it, as long has it will stop the smoke from the hood. he again assured me ABSOLUTLY, SMOKING FROM THE HOOD WILL STOP! He then keeps the car for a whole week! a whole week! and today i just went to pick her up and just before reaching home, YOU WONT BELIEVE IT, the smoke comes out of the hood again! like literally 10minutes drive smoke starts coming out (and before i came to pick it up, he said he drove it for 50miles to ensure no more smoking) which was clearly a lie because less than 10mins of driving, car started smoking again! i opened my hood and oil was leaking, clearly its the oil touching the hot manifold that is causing the smoke (like my guy said)! so whatever he fixed for $2,000 has nothing to do with the smoke coming out the hood because its still happening like i didnt just pay 2k for it to be fixed! and he assured it wasnt the oil leak causing the smoke! at this point im not even sure they fixed anything or put any new parts (they quoted me 1k for parts)! im going to be requesting for the parts bought invoice. And the annoying part, when i called to say "yo its smoking again" he was like " thats not possible! i tested it for 50miles, blah blah blah" .... then he starts laughing, this modafuka started laughing on the phone! Bill, you dont know me, you dont know the power of witchcraft, the amount of badluck that will fall on you when when i am done with you spiritually! i feel sorry for you! that 2k i paid you whatever you use it for it will bring back pain to you and your future generation! I've been dealing with Brighton Automotive for over 5 years, and I have never been disatisfied with the work that they do. I've gone in flush with cash and asked them to get me back up to snuff and been satisfied with the results. I've gone in with MAJOR work needing to be done, and they would take the time out to break my bill down into ESSENTIALS, SHOULD BE DONE and OPTIONAL without even batting in eye. In a market where repairs technicians sometimes resemble the vultures flying over Bugs Bunny as he lay in the desert dying of thirst...its refreshing to deal with a company that seems to get the fact that we are in a recession...and at all times the customer's concerns and well being should come first. if you are a South/Southwest sider and need some work done? So my review is based off the poor customer service , I have been to them for years and having service done on two different vehicles, I call in o 6/24/21 spoke with a guy about getting the lights replaced that they did not have in the last time I was there, he asked could I drive over there so he can see what's need , I explained I am being ordered to active duty military and live up by Foster I can't just drive over there to show with the time crunch, he asked me to send photos to his phone in which I did that morning , he never returned the call or followed up, I call the next day, and Bill was very off putting on his response , and sort of lecturing me, as if I did not have a reason to be upset, claiming that he is a veteran as well, and if so then he knows the stress that you already have with uproooting and driving across the country and you don't need the additional stress of poor customer service and follow through, when you are leaving soon, the time wasted I could have driven my vehicle to somewhere else and had the work done. I am giving this place 1 star solely because they are just like a dealership and charged ridiculous prices.. I went here based on their reviews but was charged 825.00 for front brake pads, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, and brake pad sensor. .. I took my receipt to the other mechanic shop I was thinking of taking and was told that 500.00 would me most they would of charged... worse part they didn't even change the oil.. So I feel rip off.. I paid ninety dollars for Brighton to do a diagnostic (more than any other shop I've ever been to) and the guy would not VISUALLY check a spark plug, granted I had a few things that needed to be looked at, but the gentleman flat out said "no I didnt check it." Really!?!?! read more

So I took my Jeep here for a horrible performance problem (any time I stepped on the gas it would die). I did a tune up and still the problem persisted. At this point I I needed my car and had to work. I took it to the shop. They said they would give me a call. A week had passed and I had to call them. The mechanic said since my jeep was an old model they were waiting on a diagnostic reader and would do a basic check in the mean time. Another week had passed and still I waited! I called back and the mechanic said he was still waiting on the tool. Ha I end up waiting almost a month for them to tell me I needed a fuel pump!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! I told them to change it asap as I needed a car for work and after all was said and done they tried to charge me $1200 for the fuel pump and diagnostic!!! Never did I agree to an over priced job over the phone! Told them I would not pay so so much and was told that they had to diagnosis manually! I went to this place to try to get a door hinge for my truck he quoted me at $300 to get it fixed, which it was only one spring it was broken I got it fixed for $100 , this man is a crook he like to add on other problems just so he can charge you more money , i spoke to the old man with the white beard, I would not go here and I would not recommend this to anybody this place is a rip off. read more

I have been to Brighton Automotive twice for major repairs. I must say that I am happy with the work performed. In my opinion the work done was thorough and I could definitely feel a difference in the performance of my car. I felt the prices have been more than fair in comparison to going to a dealership. When available they were able to find me discounted parts for my car. I have worked with Bill both times I have had major work completed and he has been honest and available to answer questions when I call him. Its good that I have only worked with Bill because now he knows me and my car and I do not have to re-explain myself to different people. I gave it 4/5 stars only because each time I took my car in the length of time they kept it for repairs was a bit stressful, but I didn't get too frustrated because I did want the work done well. read more

So I have done business here before, and recommended people this place but after today I won't anymore or be recommending anyone else, so I'm an army reservist and had to go in for duty today,and upon leaving I noticed my tire was flat, when I tried to put air in the tire you can literally hear it coming back out, so I tracked all the way back to the city passing several places to come to Brighton to keep business with them, upon arrival at about 2:15 p.m. the front desk claims the tire guy isn't even in to order tires, but was supposed to get someone to look at my tire, but then comes back and claims the door is broken so they aren't doing anything else, which is totally bullshit because there is another customer who was sitting in there who just paid for services so how are you going to get his car out, I notice that this place tries to stop working an hour before they close, so you have a customer who has done business with you on a few occasions and has driven double digit miles from highland park, IL to to this establishment, when I could have just tried to find somewhere else and this is the service or lack of service you receive. I feel like this is truly unacceptable and they can count on my never returning, or having anything good to say because all this excessive riding around on a flat tire can definitely cause further damage to my vehicle which creates more expenses.. We had taken the car to another shop for an estimate on front axle/suspension work & were shopping to compare prices. Unfortunately car broke, so we had it towed here since they seemed to be reliable/honest? We were told price would include new part/labor, would get car to run& a 90day warranty. They asked for full amount up front before even starting job. I reluctantly paid full amount, got a call the next day and was told car is not safe to drive, it wouldn't even start. They left it parked on street behind shop. I went for keys, was given a bill to sign &Told there would be no warranty. As a matter of fact, I didn't even see car raised, to see what if anything was done. Definitely my fault for not insisting to have job explained to me & shown what.had been done. He did however let me know they had contacts who could purchase the car for JUNK! Way to go. I would think if a mechanic is evaluating a problem( under carriage) they would see that the car needed more work to run properly. Don't you have to be under the car to remove & replace new axle ?? I was told I should have told them about the other mechanics recommendations. Really! read more
