If you bought a new house - your hard earned green cash turned into brown DIRT. The stress of buying a home just subsided and now you have to plan for landscaping. This can be a daunting task, especially when you have no clue and it's your first time at the rodeo. The longer you take to do your landscaping is just less time for you to enjoy your lot. Meet Sensei: Mr. Nguyen @ CT Landscaping 1. Honesty - The single most important trait when looking for a landscaping professional to hire. Think of them as an honest master mechanic, hard to come by and you only hear about these Unicorns through WORD of MOUTH. 2. Sincerity - This guy loves to smile and is proud of his work. 3. Licensed Contractor - Licensed contractors can be sued, so they stand by their work and contract terms. Pay the extra $$$ and feel secure, knowing you have an avenue to sue in case things go sour. Don't hire any door-knockers even if they're the cheapest, they know all the gimmicks, and expect excuses, delays, and LIES. 4. Team of employees - He has sidekicks - They work 7 DAYS A WEEK. All are experts in their field and craft. 5. Price - Very competitive. For the quality and overall project, I felt compelled to tip him and his crew. Photos do not do justice to the magnificent work when seen in person. Having a beautiful backyard pays dividends in creating memories and time you spend with family, friends, neighbors, etc. 6. Written contract - Write it down. Golden rule, if it's not written down, it's not enforceable. Everyone's an adult here, so avoid the misunderstanding and write things down. 7. Turn around time to complete - Your mileage may vary since he is in high demand. My case was less than a month to complete. Remember, he runs a business juggling multiple projects, if he only accepts one job a month, he wouldn't be able to stay in business. Our vision was just circle seating arrangement and stamped concrete during the consultation. Mr. Nguyen came by and drew a circle with a spray can. He suggested a curved cement patio. He brought samples for us to select, stamped concrete, cement color, pergola material, seating area, irrigation system, landscaping lighting, drainage, planting (fertilizing), and travertine pavers! Pro tip - Plan for these when getting a quote * Electrical outlets - quantity and location * Irrigation drip system * Drainage - the runoff is very important

I was told I can make payments to my neighbor or he would just pay for the fence if I couldn't afford it. I told Alicia not to put up the fence until I talked to my wife and that I would get back to her by Thursday 8/27. On Wed. 8/26 at approx 8am a note was slipped though my door stating the neighbor was paying for the fence and work was starting at 8:50am. I've owned this property for nearly 20 years and was given absolutely no choice to determine when the fence was going to be put up, who was going to put it up, the style of fence, lattice, etc. They installed the aesthetically flawed sides of the boards on my side, left over debris on my side, exposed nails attaching the boards to the posts, and exposed concrete at every post. Unprofessional.

(7/25/23, post completion 5wks update #10+ c) below) We just…read morefinished our front/back yards makeover: ontime, on budget, and beautifully done! We enjoy our tropical-themed backyard so much now :). Thanks to G (the owner, the foreman, and the hard worker) and his crew. We moved to Brentwood 18months ago. We needed a makeover of our backyard which was flooded during rainy season and poor arrangement of plantation, as well as front yard upgrade. I RFQ'd 5 contractors, and got 4 back ontime. The owner of Pacific Landscape Services (= PLS) is Gatzemani (shortname G). His quote was right in line with another 2, but we were attracted by his overall solution of our troubled yards, and he seemed to be a smart guy. So we did our leap of faith by hiring him to finish in 8wks. Based on our past experience of contracting, ontime seems to be a dream.... but G and his crew made it. 1. Quote is reasonable, G doesn't nickel/dime with small adjustments. I do suggest to communicate clearly upfront to avoid adjustment/rework. 2. G is the worker bee himself and the most skillful one. 3. G always said "have to do it right" vs shortcutting/ easy work, and he did. 4. G is easy to work with, and manages his crew effectively 5. We were impressed by the clean-up on daily base and final closure which really stands out his services. We no longer needed to hire trash dumping guys like our prev projects. 6. If you are uncertain about something, you can ask G who gives his honest opinion but respects the owner's final decision and executes it. 7. G has a broad knowledge of sub-supplier bases+ plantation. We took his recommendation for pavers, pebbles.. 8. They specialize in hardscape/ pavers/ drainage/ irrigation. We have a sloped driveway and connection to backyard through sideyard. The leveling/grading was a big challenge for everyone, but G did it. 9. Restored our deserted pond in the back and transformed it into a beautiful creekbed with moss rocks. The sound of creek river is so soothing and enjoyable (see pictures) 10. The only thing is the SOD which is not doing well. [6wks later after completion] The lawn is 95% good, there are still 2 brown spots at front lawn Few recommendations: a). Any material on color/texture, it's better go to stores (if avail), and/or check samples vs online/brochure. It is very different, esp with big areas and how they age overtime. b). Consult G and make your own final call. The creekbed was a recommendaiton from G, a master piece vs a pond with mosquitoes. We went with our desire of light pebbles vs dark lava stones (an idea from G), and we love our decision. c). Get involved and check the job periodically. We did/do find small flaws (not major) due to inconsistent labor quality during the job, eg. trash was not removed before installing gopher wire, irrigation lines popped after 4wks... G re-did the gopher wire the next day after being made aware, and we fixed the dripper line ourselves. Overall, a very postitive experience!! I highly recommend Pacific Landscape Services.

When Scott came out he told me his crew was the best in the business. He was the only guy who could promise the tree would come out in one day. His price sat in the upper middle of the quotes. They also took out and ground the stump of half a cherry tree we burned two chainsaws on, and took out some yucca bushes and a rose bush without requesting extra. This experience went according to plan, no property damage occured, and I am 100% satisfied with the outcome. These are the best tree guys in Tracy, period.

I, as a home designer in the Bay area, have a reputation to uphold when I refer someone and I would never refer anyone who is not on the top of their game. Recently on a project in Burlingame I had a project that was extremely difficult with an old portion of the home connecting a substantial new addition. The city required a sprinkler system so I called on Rick to design and install the fire sprinkler system. The project went so smoothly that the client called me a thanked me for the recommendation. Once again Rick did a great job. Unfortunately, for Donna T. sounds like a mistake was made when gas heaters were probably installed after the fact to close to a sprinkler head and that set of the sprinkler system. There is always two sides to the story and unfortunately she has made a case that deserves a response.
