Last Spring/Summer we worked with Aquos Pools and they came up with a beautiful design. More amazing than we could've expected. We picked out the tile, the finish of the pool, the coping as well as the hard scape. We were a little taken aback by the price, but then we have never put a pool in before, so what do we know? We left with their quote and went to our bank to get a home equity line of credit which we told them we were going to do. Once we secured this home equity line of credit we called them back several times and left several messages with their answering services and they have not returned any of our calls, not sure why. Here we are a year later and they still have not returned our calls. I know they have moved from their Manteca location to Lodi as we visited both places again with no luck. Looking at all the great reviews on line for this company. I'm really surprised that we didn't at least get a call back from these people to let us know why they're not interested in pursuing the beautiful plans they drew up for us. read more

Do not do business with Cecil Gunite or Aquos Pools. Multiple missed appointments, poor or no follow through on appointments or job commitments. Played some shady business on materials and contract price. Sean will tell you want you want to hear then ghost you when It's time delivery said commitment. They unnecessarily destroyed yard, left a mess and then when called out about it, lied. Then I showed him pictures I had taken before during and after. He said he would make it right. Then never followed through. The only time they are good talking to you is when a payment is do. read more

Beware, nothing but issues with Mr Tapley's (owner Aquos Pools) "proprietary System". Mine does not work and i now know others that are having the came issues and are not happy. They blame the pool pump company for a system he designed and take no responsibility. Pool balancing was never completed and they asked me to pay for the pool school and balancing 8 months later. Cracks in the corners of the concrete with chunks coming out. Got the runaround for almost 3 years because i have a bad impeller on the pump, never replaced under warranty, wouldn't even answer the phone or return calls. We were happy with the build until they dumped us once they had their money. I would give zero stars but it wont go that low. I have a complaint filed with the Contractors Licensing Board and they are under investigation. read more

I wish I could give you the company half of a star, the only reason for half is the original build went extremely smooth. But that's where the quality stopped. Their intro says, "Out team is dedicated to providing custom pools that allow you to create lasting memories." Yes they created a nice pool, but the quality of the build and materials are subpar. And once Covid19 hit, this pool builder used it as a crutch to let our warranty expire without correcting our issues. Here are a few of the problems we've had so far; -Immediately after the install we began to run into problems; -We began to have huge cracks in the concrete and the coping around the spa cap began to separate from the walls. The company sent someone out to try and fill the gaps with caulk but it was a mis-matched color and has since separated again and there is now a 1" of separation. -The electronic control system that was "safe" per them in the sun has faded and all the buttons have cracked. -Two of the LED lights in the pool and the LED light in the spa. -Because of the cracking concrete and coping separating the rock on the wall between the pool and the spa has now come loose. -The pool sweep has never worked correctly and has already needed to be rebuilt by our pool cleaning company. -The pool heater has had a leak they they said would self seal. I have emailed and called the company and now they won't even call back. Don't use the company!!!! We had this pool installed in 2017 and have used it only 3 summers and spent a ton of money on our backyard and now need to spend a ton more to fix their terrible work. I think its important to reflect on my past experience, look at the future, and talk about the state of pool building today in general. Inflation is a b*tch. that's for sure. What you could afford in the past is far fetch these days, and until the overspend from consumers halts, prices wont relax, incomes wont level out, and the cost of money will remain high. But with Aquos, one thing is really important. The pool at the house I sold, the pool that we've learned to miss :(, it's still functioning properly, it's still beautiful, and I have to say - I'm a difficult customer, it's a fact. Thing is, I'm a cash buyer at this point, and with the money I've saved, I still cant justify spending the amount a pool costs today. That being said, Harold took the time to meet with me and discuss a potential pool at my house, ignoring my previous review which is pretty rough to read. I think that Harold has a great mission in his business and is developing some great solutions with his patented filtration system. I'm not an early adopter, and it's important to mention that Harold did not pressure me to only go for his cool new solution, but he took the time to explain the engineering to me, and as a nerd, I couldnt help but want to offer suggestions (ones he's of course already thought of). I want to say that I'm pleased with Harold's family business, the time they take in listening to concerns and needs, but at the very core, they are realistic and if you cant you cant, if you can, thats great! My last experience was also my first, and after running through the quoting period a second time with 5 different builers, Aquos still came in at not just the best price, but I also had the confidence knowing that I could swim in the pool and it wouldnt fall apart, just like my last one. I know that the issue I had the first time, I have more knowledge about and it wouldn't happen the next time. All in all, Harold is a local and he's always been pleasant, even when I'm a pain in the tush lol. Thanks again Harold for your time, and when I'm ready - I know I'll only have to look to one place. Aquos built my pool this summer and I was amazed by the quality of work. I prefer working with family owned businesses where I am treated with respect and not like a number. The office girls were always helpful and my pool was finished just in time for a huge family bbq. I highly recommend Aquos. I purchased a house with a pool that was built By this company. When I'm trying to figure out how to schedule a daily cleaning with the machine, an error message came up. I reached out to the previous house owner but unfortunately she doesn't remember code. So she suggested me to call the company directly. The first guy who I spoke to immediately want to transfer me to the warranty department without understand what the situation is . I told him I don't need the warranty thing. I only need to know how what is the key code is or what should I do with this. He took down my information and then transfer to the lady. I don't think that lady had a good day so far. She said if I need to know more about the pool, I can buy the school package for $200 and someone will teach me how to use the pool. I told her I do not need that package. I only need to know what the key passcode is or how to pass by it so that I can schedule the robot cleaning for my pool. Omg she was so rude and hang up on me. Then I called back. This time was a girl. She doesn't seem like she want to help out. So of course she transferred me to the angry lady again. So far the only useful information that I received is the name of the manufactory for my pool pump. And the name of the rude lady - Andrea . So be careful when you do business with this company. When we decided to put in a pool, we met with five different companies. Aquos designer Joni was extremely easy to work with. She listened to what we were looking for, made changes as needed, answered all our questions, provided insight and recommendations. We were impressed with the visualization software of what our completed pool and backyard would look like and the fact that this is a family owned and run company. We signed with Aquos in November 2019. We were given a dig date for December 2019. We didn't hear anything from Aquos through December and got a knock on our door on a random Saturday in January from a guy saying he would be digging our pool and wanted to look at the project. He stated he would be digging the pool Thursday of the next week. Come Tuesday, we get home and our driveway is blocked with trucks and dirt; they were digging the pool. This should have been our first sign that communication would not be what we expected. We very rarely heard from the lead scheduler Ozzy. I would often call and text without receiving a response for days at a time. If I was lucky to get a response, it was never a straightforward answer, always open ended or he needed to check with someone else. For example, we had an issue with the deck, and I was always told someone would be out Monday or Tuesday. They would not show up, then it was Wednesday or Thursday, then next week. We never knew where we were in the project, what the next step was or when someone would be at our home. One of the main reasons we chose Aquos was because of their family owned and run status. They may be a family owned and run company, but they subcontract out all work. The only part of the project Aquos/Bud's concrete competed themselves was the initial dig. Everything from rebar, plumbing, gunite, tile, concrete, plaster, was all subcontracted out. This makes it extremely difficult to hold anyone accountable. This makes communication even more difficult since we didn't have anyone to speak with directly. Every time we would ask a question, we were told we had to get in touch with Aquos and as stated, communication was close to nonexistent. This was extremely frustrating when there were issues to be addressed. The only time communication was timely, prompt, and direct was when a payment was due. My husband took it upon himself to get started cleaning up our yard since all the subcontractors left such a mess and so much garbage. Andrea was helpful and sent someone out to clean up, but the yard needs more work and he left their fence and a large piece of wood. I'm not a concrete expert, but I don't think the wood stays on the back of the wall forever? Are the tiles supposed to be this dirty? This is extremely disappointing when you pay a company such a large sum of money and get such mediocre work. A light at the end of the tunnel was Frank, who met with us and walked us through all our equipment. He provided us with so much informative and detailed information not only on our equipment but water chemistry and how to keep our pool sparkling. I am now worried about the owner's responses to other posters regarding issues pertaining to their saltwater pool, as that is what we went with based on Joni's recommendation. We've also been told by a concrete specialist to anticipate deck issues in 3-5 years based upon the lack of a border and expansion joints. Only time will tell. Joni, Frank and Andrea were all amazing and our pool is beautiful (if you don't pay attention to the details) but if we had to do it all over again, we would go with a different builder. read more

We selected Aquos to build our pool this summer for multiple reasons. They are family owned which was important and I have multiple friends that have used them. We owned a pool at our last house and hated cleaning the cartridge filters and the cost to replace them. We are very happy with the proprietary Best Clear system that Aquos installed. Finally decided on Aquos, mainly because they are a family-owned and operated business, with 40+ yrs of experience. Harold Tapley (owner) sat with us for over an hour, on a Saturday, and answered all of our questions and concerns. We were equally impressed with the design of our pool/spa by Joni (we had concerns that our backyard was too small). The actual construction went smoothly and remained on-schedule. Ashley was our schedule coordinator and did a great job of updating us daily throughout the process. The crews that did the actual manual labor were very professional, skillful, and timely. Cliff was our project manager and was on-site, overseeing the crews, and checking in with us consistently. We've been enjoying our pool since August. I initially called five companies to give us an estimate on a pool. One made an appointment to see our backyard and never showed, one came by and never got the quote to us, another didn't call us back for two months, and two companies gave us a quote and showed us what our pool would look like. We decided to go with Aquos Pools because Dave and Harold were personal and did not beat around the bush with anything. They told me I could use certain things to accent our pool and not do other ideas I had in mind to help save money. They were not here to make a dollar, they actually wanted us to be happy with a pool that will last us a long time. That's why I have referred multiple people to them already. I felt comfortable with Dave and Harold and so did my wife who was the one who would be home most of the time throughout the project. Shawn, who worked with us directly throughout the duration of the project was easy to get ahold of and always got back to me even on the weekends. We used Aquos Pools last year to build our pool/jacuzzi. Everything went great up until the building process. I spoke with numerous different people throughout the building process and it appeared as if they failed to communicate with one another. Things that said were going to be done/included were not (ex; salt water system, re-installing the fence, leveling out the ground after digging, trimming pipes from the ground). My husband had to pay out of pocket to re-install the fence. The company said they would later use that as credit for the salt water system, which at the end was never installed. Water pipes are sticking out in the middle of the yard (never trimmed down). We tried to reach out to the company numerous times to address the issues after a failed inspection and they never replied. We had to go through the inspection process/paper work on our own. Would NEVER recommend this company to anyone and whole heartedly regret giving them our business. read more

*******UPDATE**** They will sell you a dream, only to leave you with a nightmare. They will rip you off and have NO problem doing it. They're all about the money, the customers satisfaction doesn't matter once they've collected those BIG payments. Their sales pitch is "we're a family run business that's been in business for 40 years." They bashed several other companies we got quotes from and all the things they bashed about the other companies, they did. Deflection at its finest! You'll end up doing some of the job yourself and paying them, even though they didn't do the work. If you don't pay them (even though the work isn't done) they'll threaten to put a lean on your house. No discussion first (because they don't respond to people, even after asking to receive a return phone call over and over, even asked for the owner to call and that still has NOT happened) Just the threat of a lien! All over $500.00, because the other huge payments they received LONG ago for work not completed. Still no final inspection with them doing a walkthrough with us and no sign off from the city ... which we already paid in full for as well. They have nobody that comes to check anything their subcontractors do, they just wait for the homeowner to complain and then delay after delay. We have countless e-mails asking for communication and work to be competed only to be ignored and told lies. Good luck getting anyone to call you back or return a e-mail. They have blamed everything on "covid" & sub-contractors, which they're responsible for because they hire them! They don't however have any issues with covid preventing them from starting another job two streets over before they finished ours. In which the people decided to use them based on our pool being built in the area. The job went two months over the promised date, stone was installed incorrectly and was cracked. They sent the stone subcontractor back to fix the stone. That subcontractor dropped a few larger pieces of stone in my pool and decided to use the skimming net that had not even been used to attempt to get them out.. left the net on the pole and tossed it on my side yard, leaving stone in the bottom. I called AQUOS and was told to use my pool sweep to pick up the stone. Hmm so ruin my brand new equipment and do even more clean up after your subcontractor?? They ruined our fence by ripping it off to gain access after agreeing several times they were done using that access point, leaving our yard open and creating a huge liability due to the construction to name just a few things. They also sprayed Gunite all over the windows. This is one more thing I had to notify them of due to them not checking the work of subcontractors. I was told it would get cleaned, yet if I wait ones for them it would still be there. I had to have it cleaned. Their signature response to everything is "your pool looks beautiful" they're like a broken record! Zero respect and integrity. Read the Yelp reviews and give your money to someone who will actually care about your experience regarding a huge investment and not just the money in their greedy pockets! Next steps ... formal complaint with the CA. State licensing board, complaint with BBB & arbitration. I will add more pictures later of the filthy backyard, discolored concrete, etc. later. I've also noticed a majority of the good reviews they have are not recent. The recent ones Indicate many of the SAME issues! Again ... also read the Yelp reviews before making a decision. I'd like to give less than one star for customer service if that was a possibility As the business responded, yes these are old pics. They're old because we had to wait and wait for them to clean up.. yes it is now cleaned up for the most part. These photos are to show how things were "cleaned up" to their satisfaction apparently. But the forms would still be there and the trash as well had I not called several times to repeatedly ask to be done and removed the forms on my own.. they can comment as much as they want, they were never here to see it themselves as they do not send anyone to check the work and they choose not to follow up with their customers u less it's to collect money. I, the customer had to send photos per their request since they couldn't be bothered to check the work. I could have subcontracted the entire job myself and had a better experience. Clearly by reading recent reviews we are not the only ones with a bad experience. We've recommended Aquos to 2 of our neighbors and they are digging in Mar 2018.. so they can swim an entire summer. Lastly Bob who everyone calls Grandpa who laid our decking and additional concrete was really good and so knowledgeable.. They left a lot of dirt of the whole of the pool that we had to pay a junk removal to remove it, because they do not know why the contractors that they hire, (BECAUSE THEY DO NOT DO ANY OF THE JOB!) do not removed them! Good evening Yelp family, I hope you're staying safe during our shelter in place. Its been a long time, but here is an update on the pool. My wife and I filed a complaint with the California State License Board (CSLB), and we took Aquos Pools (Harold Tapley) to Arbitration (American Arbitration Association per our Contract). The Arbitrator ruled in our favor finding Aquos Pools is responsible for the POOR WORKMANSHIP. The Arbitrator stated, "Based on all of the evidence, the Arbitrator concludes that the concrete was poured INCORRECTLY and thus caused the ABNORMAL CRACKS. The cracks are not normal. This is the RESPONSIBILITY of the Respondent (AQUOS POOLS)." The Arbitrator found Aquos Pools was in violation of the American Concrete Institute ASTM C94 guidelines. There were two pours and the batch tickets state each pour took well over two hours. Please request a copy of your batch tickets if you use Aquos. It should also be noted, Aquos Pools concrete foreman Steve Rainey admitted the concrete was dry prior to the pour, and they added water to the concrete. The batch ticket states, "the addition of more water is done at the purchaser's risk". The Arbitrator ruled the purchaser Aquos Pools is responsible for the Problematic concrete which was poured. The Arbitrators award was issued on March 24th, 2020. Aquos Pools remitted the monetary award 40 days past due, but at least we were paid. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!
