I taught swimming lessons (including parent and me) for many years and directed aquatics programs, so armed with that experience, I went into my daughter's first lesson yesterday with realistic expectations. I know my 13 month old isn't going to learn to swim, but we can sing songs, play in the water, and have fun, yes? =) Unfortunately, there were no songs, no introductions made, and absolutely no group direction or instruction given. We were in the water for the 1/2 hour and had 3 interactions with the instructor, who was going from kiddo to kiddo and proposing different activities they could do with their parents (kicking, bubbles, tossing the toy and reaching for it). To be honest, this is not my issue. When I called the city to speak with their aquatics representative, I explained that I wanted to share some feedback about the class with the intention of helping their team improve the kiddos' experience. The only response given by the individual I spoke to was, "Well she is one of our newest instructors." What I was hoping for was some kind of action-oriented response that indicated that there would be some improvements made. That being said, I had high hopes for a fun experience, but we will be looking elsewhere for our parent and me classes. I hope that this will help folks who are considering enrolling in future sessions.

The Ron Williamson Youth Activity Area is completely separate from the playground found in the Lodi Lake Park. It is located on a small grassy peninsula way in back of the park. This area is surrounded by the Mokelumne River Riparian. There are a few picnic tables next to the parking lot, but most of the picnic tables were located under a huge gazebo towards the end of the play area. In front of the activity area is a small playground with slides and climbing structures. This whole area is surrounded by water so small children should be closely supervised ! As always be aware of your surroundings and be safe !

She doesn't just swim well, she knows how to say things in a way that you can actually process her directions and do them. I had spent at least four summers trying to learn in group settings and simply couldn't.. that's a reflection on my lack of coordination and fear LOL it took her one day in the water with me to get me treading water because she could tell me how to do things in a way that made sense to me.

Cyndie was able to manage her AND teach her. She also helped her love swimming. So much that she actually agreed to join our local swim team this year without all the normal resistance that we usually get when we suggest new activities. That is a HUGE win in my book, only made possible by Cyndie. Cyndie is respectful of MY time and my investment. She starts every lesson time and gives my daughter focused attention during the whole lesson. Her online scheduling was easy, quick, and clear, accommodating my hectic summer schedule. The price honestly took me back. More than any other swim teachers I've done with my others kids. As I think of my 2 other kids swim lessons, they spent much of the lesson trying to convince them to get into the cold pool, and managing their shivers. Cyndie HEATS her pool. (And as a PG and E customer and pool owner, I KNOW this is not cheap $$$) What I also know is, warm water equals quicker learning and more success. And that is what Lodi Swim Training has provided my daughter, Success and a love for swimming.

There are two big rooms where room where TigerX classes are held such as Zumba, Bollywood, Yoga, Kickboxing, etc and you can look online for the schedule. And if the rooms are empty you can use it as a quiet place to stretch or do your own workout. Or you can play ping pong, but you it will cost you a few cents (Pacific Cash accepted) to get a ping pong ball but you get to keep it. If that that doesn't interest you, there are two racketball courts and you can rent rackets and balls for free. And probably the biggest highlight (*no pun intended) is the rock climbing wall and there are student instructors there to guide your way up. What I don't like about Baun is how the hours are short on the weekend and during undergrad breaks - which sucks for pharmacy students who are here year round or the community that use this gym regularly. Also, at the beginning of this year they took away the stairclimber :( and put in some other mock stair climbing replacement machine which I don't like at all. Overall, it's a pretty good gym for Pacific. It's "free" for Pacific students since its included in the tuition. I believe its around $25/month for alumni and I don't know the price for the regular community. It can get pretty crowded after students return from break but after a week or two it dies down quite a bit. There are showers and lockers available so you can freshen up afterwards.
