Cyndie was able to manage her AND teach her. She also helped her love swimming. So much that she actually agreed to join our local swim team this year without all the normal resistance that we usually get when we suggest new activities. That is a HUGE win in my book, only made possible by Cyndie. Cyndie is respectful of MY time and my investment. She starts every lesson time and gives my daughter focused attention during the whole lesson. Her online scheduling was easy, quick, and clear, accommodating my hectic summer schedule. The price honestly took me back. More than any other swim teachers I've done with my others kids. As I think of my 2 other kids swim lessons, they spent much of the lesson trying to convince them to get into the cold pool, and managing their shivers. Cyndie HEATS her pool. (And as a PG and E customer and pool owner, I KNOW this is not cheap $$$) What I also know is, warm water equals quicker learning and more success. I taught swimming lessons (including parent and me) for many years and directed aquatics programs, so armed with that experience, I went into my daughter's first lesson yesterday with realistic expectations. I know my 13 month old isn't going to learn to swim, but we can sing songs, play in the water, and have fun, yes? =) Unfortunately, there were no songs, no introductions made, and absolutely no group direction or instruction given. We were in the water for the 1/2 hour and had 3 interactions with the instructor, who was going from kiddo to kiddo and proposing different activities they could do with their parents (kicking, bubbles, tossing the toy and reaching for it). To be honest, this is not my issue. When I called the city to speak with their aquatics representative, I explained that I wanted to share some feedback about the class with the intention of helping their team improve the kiddos' experience. The only response given by the individual I spoke to was, "Well she is one of our newest instructors." What I was hoping for was some kind of action-oriented response that indicated that there would be some improvements made. That being said, I had high hopes for a fun experience, but we will be looking elsewhere for our parent and me classes. I hope that this will help folks who are considering enrolling in future sessions.

Everyone at Valor are so nice, supportive, and help one another whenever some of us are struggling. The coaches are so helpful with teaching us different techniques and to boost our mindset. He picked this school to train at! It was the atmosphere. The kids class are awesome! There are games involve, drills and friendly little competitions that kept kids very attentive (which is extremely difficult to do for 4,5,6 year olds). This gym is very clean and easy to get to (just west of I-5 freeway off of Hammer Lane). The classes are laid back and offers a very chill and stress free environment. I love that they play lots of 80's and reggae music in the background during classes. Tim and Stella are fantastic instructors! I liked so much for my son that I started training here too once I saw my son was getting after it! Honestly, I was apprehensive at first because I had a couple reasons: 1:I had an old neck injury and was scared of aggravating it, but I have not because everyone I roll with is super cool and respectful about my condition. 2: I train at another martial arts school; Tim and Stella are totally cool with it because they know I'm just trying to become a better martial artist. Everyone here is super cool and easy going. The instruction is first class. I had came from another Jiujitsu school and had to adjust to an entirely new way of thinking, analyzing my game and strategies (10th Planet is on another level). It was great starting over again and being humbled. One thing about training Jiu-Jitsu, it puts your ego in check pretty quickly! If you wanna train with ego, the mats quickly adjusts that issue. Come in with an open mind and an attitude of ready to learn. Learning Jiu-Jitsu is one the best empty handed skills one can learn to effectively have self defense skills. They gi and no gi classes.
