I have never written a negative review of a company before. Unfortunately, Bob Whitaker of Aqua Renovations is incredibly unprofessional, dishonest, and unethical. I highly recommend you do not conduct business with this gentleman. As other reviewers have previously written, he is a one man "company" who runs the business out of his Doylestown home, has no real employees, hires lowest bid subcontractors to renovate your pool, has changed his company name numerous times, and according to several other pool renovation companies I have reached out to fix this mess maintains an extremely poor reputation in the industry. We paid him an initial deposit in June 2021. Months passed with nothing happening. Out of the blue, he then proceeded to demolish our family's pool last fall with two young men showing up unannounced at our home without the required township permits. The work was rushed, sloppy, and shoddy. Our automatic pool cover track was removed and bent in the process. The mortar was not properly and completely removed so more demolition and prep work will still need to be done to prepare the pool for its next phase of renovation. Gallons of saltwater were dumped onto our grass, plants, and trees. Our pool was left filled with debris. In addition, the sloppy demolition may have damaged the plumbing which will now need to be pressure tested. Bob Whitaker had no supplies when he demolished our pool. He failed to reserve and secure our necessary materials. He gave my husband the run-around via text messages for nine months. And has left our family with our four year old son pool-less for the upcoming summer season. He refuses to answer calls or return my husband's deposit. Even though, his incomplete and sloppy demolition has provided no savings or value now that we need to hire another contractor to renovate our pool. I hope my warning can prevent someone else from making the same mistake our family made retaining Aqua Renovations' services saving unnecessary stress, unpleasantness, inconvenience, frustration, and the wasting of hard earned money. read more

As with a prior 1-star reviewer this is also my first negative review post for any company. Aqua Renovations (Bob Whittaker /aquarenovationspa.com) refinished our pool 9/17/20. As of today, 5/29/21, the attached photos show the result of an improper application process performed by Aqua as explained in the following article: poolchloraz.com/plaster-... The top middle photo in the article could have been taken from our pool when the whitening began to spread. Now, as the photos show, 70% of the surface is bleaching out. Aqua blamed our pool closing service company for allowing poor water chemistry which he said caused the issue. The closing chemistry was perfect. Even if it was not, the article above (see link) explains that improper chemistry cannot cause this deterioration, a fact that has now been confirmed by two experts I consulted who confirmed the explanation to be an improper material mix and/or application. Mr. Whittaker (Aquarenovations.com) has refused any settlement regarding this, even when I proposed his contributing only 1/3 of the cost of a refinishing. He alternatively suggested that I sue his chosen material supplier, NPT. I did contact NPT multiple times over the past month to ask that they evaluate this situation. To date, I have had zero response. My attorney investigated Aqua and, as a prior negative reviewer reported, found that "Aqua" is actually one person (Bob Whittaker) who hires other companies to do his work, and maintains no actual business assets to defend legally. He does not have to, and in at least in this instance, chooses not to stand behind the work done by the subcontractor. The customer then has no enforceable legal recourse if that work is poor since the contract is only with Aqua, and not with the subcontractor. Buyer beware. While the Aqua bid was the lowest I received, it has now become by far the most expensive choice. I would encourage the reader to utilize other companies with actual employees, whose higher bids may prove to be much less costly than Aqua since these others will do the right thing and stand behind their work. Bob and his crew did a great job resurfacing our pool and surrounding concrete sidewalks. The pool looks fantastic and like new!!

I called Aqua Renovation after deciding to put tile on my in ground fiberglass pool. The original pool company told me the tiles needed to be place during the manufacturing process only. I contacted Bob from Aqua Renovation and he assured me he could place the tiles. The next year we lost a few tiles in which Bob did replace for free. The second year we lost even more tiles and questioned our decision to tile our fiberglass pool. Bob ask me to give him some time to come up with another solution. The solution is called FIBER TILES. Bob completely removed all existing tiles and replaced with the fiber tiles. We made it thru the first summer without any issues. The fiber tiles can be easily cleaned and soft to the touch when entering/existing pool. I got the runaround...do not use. Bob Whitaker hires cheap laborers that do a half ass job to increase his profit margin. While Bob promised to have water back in our pool within 5 days (before the July 4 weekend), he actually delivered on that promise within 2.5 days! Bob provided great advice on what colors and "bling" would compliment the look of the current landscape and coping. And it looks amazing. His team of professionals all arrived on time, worked quick and were easy to work with. Bob was always accessible to answer our questions. A previous homeowner hired Bob's company to design and install our pool 25 years ago. He did a beautiful job and the original pool surface lasted that long.
