I am writing to provide an update on the progress of the pool installation at our new construction home, as well as to share some insights regarding our experience thus far. Currently, we are in the process of building the pool with Aqua Pools. I have been working closely with Tony Davis throughout this process, and I am pleased to report that his professionalism and responsiveness have been exemplary. Today, we officially placed the order for the pool, and we are optimistic about the upcoming stages of the project. This pool will be installed in a home that is new construction, and we intentionally delayed completing the sprinkler system and landscaping until after the pool was installed. Our builder Modern Family homes of Indiana has graciously agreed to hold off on landscaping until the pool installation is complete. However, the village has established a specific timeline for when the landscaping must be finished, which is by the end of May 2026. We are hopeful that Aqua Pools will be able to meet this timeline, and we are crossing our fingers that everything proceeds smoothly. It is worth noting that the village is holding a substantial amount of escrow money, which will be refunded to the builder once the landscaping is completed, adding an additional layer of importance to adhering to the schedule. Throughout this journey, my communication with Tony Davis has been outstanding. He consistently responds to my inquiries, even over weekends, exemplifying a level of customer service that I greatly appreciate. I strongly believe that effective communication is key, and Tony has certainly demonstrated his commitment to ensuring a positive customer experience. Prior to selecting Aqua Pools, we explored multiple options--three different builders for the house and four different pool companies--before ultimately choosing Aqua Pools. Our decision was driven by the professionalism and reliability we observed during our research, and so far, the experience aligns with those expectations. I sincerely hope that the overall experience with the pool will be as satisfying as the home building process has been. I will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the project as it advances. So far, everything appears to be on the right track, and I remain optimistic about the final outcome. Aqua Pool has been servicing our pools since they originally opened. We have always had only good experiences with them. When we decided to switch from above ground to inground we of course called on Aqua Pool to complete all necessary work. Today Ruben came out to fix a heater issue we were having. He completed all work and then noticed that something else was amiss, a large flame came up from a gas line he immediately turned everthing off and is in the process of ordering parts to fix. We had an inground fiberglass pool put in with Aqua. It has been a very smooth process. We needed a retaining wall and they communicated well with our landscaping company throughout the process. Tony has been fantastic at answering all of my questions. We communicated via text message during the construction. He has even FaceTimed me a few times to walk me though how to work a few different things with the pool. I'm very happy with the work they did. February 2017 I purchased pool from Aqua Pools-Homer Glen for installation in Spring 2017 and it was paid for in FULL. May 6, 2017 pool was installed by Oasis Builders-Lockport, IL. Installation was a terrible job. They rushed the job, liner had a dozen 1 inch wrinkles, across the bottom of the pool. And several on the walls. They also never cut the hole for the return and left saying it was done. I called them the next day and they never returned because they were too busy. They actually told me how to cut the hole. They told me that the weather was too cold when they installed the liner to smooth it. (when they should have rescheduled the installation) After many phone calls and rescheduled dates for them to fix the issue, they wrote on the contract that they would fix the liner first thing spring 2018, all parties signed the contract and Tony Davis, the manager (of Aqua Pools) agreed verbally and also signed the note. Bill Beushausen, Oasis Builders also signed the note. Both agreed that Oasis was responsible for fixing the liner and the cost of replacing the water. Contract signed & dated by all parties. The first email I wrote to both parties was in March 2018 to remind them to schedule me before the season gets busy. Bill Beushausen, Oasis Builder installer, never responds to any texts or emails. You can't call him because he doesn't answer the phone (wonder why?) and his mailbox is full so you can't leave a message. Which means you have to reach out to Tony Davis the manager of Aqua Pools, since Oasis is their installer. Tony stated it's not his responsibility (he says) he has washed his hands of helping us get this taken care of. Oasis Builder (installer) responded but is reneging on the contract that states he will replace the water at his cost, saying that it's Aqua Pools responsibility to absorb the cost. Both are refusing to make good on the signed contract. I have written NBC Consumer Complaints and BBB for both companies. We've been entertaining the idea of a pool for the past few years. We first contacted Aqua Pools in the summer of 2019. They came highly recommended by several neighbors and friends. We had great initial conversations but we weren't ready to make the plunge. We reengaged with multiple pool builders during the summer of 2020 during the Covid Peak. Out of the 4 pool builders we interviewed and researched, we went with Aqua Pools. We felt they were the most knowledgeable and experienced with Fiberglass Pools. They also didn't try to pressure us to anything and listened to our ideas and what we wanted. We knew supply and demand was insane due to Covid and we weren't sure what the install process was going to be like. We heard a couple of recent horror stories from friends using other pool builders in the area during the Covid mayhem so we were a bit nervous going into it. We worked with Tony from day 1 and our experience from beginning to end exceeded our expectations and put our minds at ease. Aqua handled all the permits and back and forth with the village. They kept us up to date on permitting, potential dig and install date. They also kept our landscaper in the loop and received input from him as needed throughout the permit process and after install as it related to grading. Due to vendor availability, Aqua was able to install our pool ahead of schedule which allowed us to begin swimming at the beginning of the season vs middle of the season. Everyone was professional and easy to work with. Even after Aqua completed the install, they are always available for questions. We have used text message and Facetime to get questions answered about the equipment or just general new pool owner questions. Tony has been very responsive and so helpful. The only regret we have is not doing it back in 2019 when we first entertained the idea. If you are thinking of using Aqua DON'T! Do yourself a favor call Mike from Dutch Barn Pools. He is AMAZING! Keeps in constant contact, work directly with him, he's super professional and in the short time that we have been contracted with him has gotten more done then Aqua did in MONTHSSSS. Mike from DUTCH BARN POOLS has shown us that there are companies out there that actually do care about professionalism, customer service, and quality. We had high hopes for Aqua Pools, they have been around for so long and had knew a couple people that had used them years ago for their inground pool and had a positive experience. However, that was not the case for us. The process started off great. Met with Jim in September discussed what we would like for our pool, was quick to respond through email (forget about even trying to get a hold of him via phone through the business line) he then came out to our house talked with us more, gave him the money to hold our spot and get on the list for the 2021 season. While at our house he assured us that they would start the process April/May of '21 depending on weather. Fast forward to January, Tony calls and says he needs to stop out and get the check for the village permits and get our signatures on the contract. He comes out, we give him what he needs and he too tells us that yes we are on the list for April/May timeline. Here and there I would get emails asking me to provide them with things they needed and I always got them what they needed within a couple days at most. I wanted to be sure we were never the hold up on anything because of course we want our pool done as soon as possible to be able to enjoy it. As it got closer to April I had reached out to Tony wondering what the schedule was looking like could they give us any idea of when they would be starting. EVERY time he had some excuse. The permits at the village weren't ready ( well I called the village and they had told me they were ready and had been ready for weeks waiting to be picked up from Aqua) Then of course it's their distributor's fault getting the product out and other projects being held up. Of course blaming COVID (because who doesn't use that as a free excuse) Finally he tells us that it looks like we won't be getting started until "Julyish". We have a phone call with Tony because of course we are upset and wondering where the miscommunication was that now we aren't on the schedule until July. He gave a bunch of bs excuses and when I called him out on every one that he stated and proved him wrong he got extremely rude. He was unprofessional, spoke in a very rude tone, told me that he doesn't care about my pool and when it gets done, he didn't want to work with us anymore so he'll send us our check back in the mail and hung up on me. I then reached out to Jim (the owner) expressing our concerns and wanting to speak to him. Took him 3 days to call us (clearly could tell we were not a priority) He stood behind his employee speaking to me the way he did and blamed me for his behavior. When he did call he too gave us a bunch of run around excuses when bottom line they DID NOT ORDER OUR POOL! We left it that we would think about if we wanted to work with them and give him a call after the weekend. Well before we could call him, he sent us an email stating he does not want to work with us and cancelled on us. They did send us our check back with no problems, they cancelled our permit - that WE paid for and told the village that I cancelled on him. FALSE! We reached out to a couple other pool companies and all of them said the same thing about Aqua- they have a reputation in the industry of being liars and taking on more than they can do. We also have heard over and over that years ago when Big Jim was running things it was SO much better. Now that his son Jim has taken over it has gone down hill. He takes on way more jobs than they can handle and then gives mediocre services at best. He's all about the quantity and how much money he can make instead of quality and customer service. The owner does a good job of pointing the finger/blame at everyone but Aqua, seems to be his MO that it's never their fault. Somehow the customer is always to blame. Ridiculous. read more

Aqua installed an inground pool late last fall. We opted for the auto cover which I think added about 14k to the cost of the pool. The pool was installed, opened and then immediately closed as it was November. Nobody had been in the pool at this point. So far so good. Aqua then came and opened up the pool early in April. Given the cold spring we had nobody was swimming in early April. I noticed a problem with the cover, maybe the ninth or tenth time I opened the cover. I noticed several small pools of water on the cover before opening one morning. Upon taking a closer look, I noticed several small tears in a long line across the cover. I immediately contacted Aqua, as this was a problem, and I had not used the pool yet, AND the cover was a huge expense of the pool. A serviceman was sent out by Aqua to take a look, and he informed me that a bracket had fallen off in the mechanism that removes the cover and put about 14 holes in the entire length of the cover. He took several photographs of the cover and informed me that he will bring the photos to Aqua. This seemed pretty simple to me, Aqua installed the cover, they did so incorrectly resulting in a misplaced bracket, resulting in tears in the cover on a pool that has never been used. Without another thought, I assumed Aqua would take the proper responsibility for fixing this problem. No one has ever even been in the pool at this point. After waiting more than a week for any kind of communication I began calling, emailing Aqua. I eventually went into their store looking for some kind of response. Jim, the owner at Aqua told me this is not their fault, 'sometimes this happens.' He tried to explain that people walking on it or animals walking on it, none of which happened all winter, can cause this issue. He also said that it was fine when the company came out a week or so before we noticed the problem. Though I have to say, when things aren't installed correctly they don't always instantly break, like when my car's engine broke apart, we drove it for months before it broke...and funny thing is the car company took full responsibility and replaced the engine with a brand new one and no charge to me. The pool cover manufacturer offered to pay half the cost of the cover, and Aqua offered to charge me half the labor to put in a new cover, how generous for a pool I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN IN YET. Resolving this properly would have cost me $2,000. In the meantime, I asked Jim to patch the holes. They patched two of the 14 holes in the cover. I invite anybody who wants to see for themselves to come on over and take a look. If you want a company that stands by their product and craftsmanship, this is NOT the place to hire. read more

I won't give them the benefit of the doubt for the COVID pandemic. Their customer service is atrocious and has been since before the pandemic!! If I could give no stars, I would. DON'T EVER consider Aqua Pools for a pool. Sadly for them, although I think the company could care less, we have had at least five of our close friends in the area ask for our pool company because they were installing a pool and we advised against it. Given the cost of these projects, that's a lot of money lost for the company. We had our pool installed summer of 2019 and besides working with Tony Davis, I could do without the entire Aqua team. Jim Jr. is a piece of work. He was great in the beginning when he wanted our money and commitment, but after that, something to be desired. Never coordinated the job. If it weren't for me being present and at home taking time off work when contractors came, there would have been several screw ups, and very serious ones, in fact, we do have one issue that we've had to live with because it involved our pool deck and slide position which can't be fixed without busting up all the concrete. Service problems have continued through now with the service team not responding to matters that the service techs have been informed of while opening our pool. Because the warranty requires Aqua to do any service, opening and closing to.l not void your warranty, we've had to begrudgingly endure working with them. Don't know how this will turn out, but they apparently on the 'Team' during the COVID-19 crisis...this is what I just put on their Facebook page: I don't know. Using Aqua Pools in Homer Glen, IL (why can't I make an original post on here???) and are they giving me the run around. No information, no answers to my questions (with the excuse that they are very busy during the COVID-19 time, before COVID-19 time, and most probably, after COVID-19 time; they are lucky to be working, as many of us don't have that luxury)...every time I have actually been in their stores there or in Worth, IL, I was the only one), and just throw out number figures too me, without any documentation..."Might cost 8K, but, luckily, only 2K!" For what? I don't know (they did this for my possible pool base repair even before having a look at it...old time used car repair shop tactic, before too many lawsuits). The breaking point is that they couldn't even tell me how many gallons were in my pool weeks after they measured (I found the formula, and estimates for standard pools online) and wanted to charge me 399 plus tax for a white light bulb for the pool! Couldn't tell me what kind of light, where it was, then I looked online, and found out I could buy a multicolored, programmable pool light bulb, with remote...for a grand total of 89 bucks. I keep asking the rep questions, but no answers, as she is 'swamped' with phone calls and 'crazy busy.' She will reply to my emails in a day, but will never answer the questions that I asked...just ye olde 'I am crazy busy' routine. Nothing written done, just 'blind trust.' This is the way that old car repair shops worked. I wish that someone would take responsibility for this...is that you Jim Eiler? With the money I am paying for who knows what, this pool liner replacement is becoming a sinkhole for money, versus a job well done. Please reply! As it stands, the total costs for liner replacement are almost double the original estimate!!! Unfortunately, my daughter doesn't have a printing press in the basement cranking out 100 dollar bills. And here is the response from Aqua Pools VP today (4/4/20). Remember, during this COVID-19 times, price gouging is not only illegal, but also could be coupled with time. This has caused everyone that is working to have an increase in workload. It is also doubled by the fact that since everyone is home, they all want their pools open, serviced, built, etc... Something that everyone is dealing with is needing to be patient when it comes to products and services right now. Everyone is delayed from Starbucks, to Costco, to Amazon and more. We appreciate all of our customers patience. I had a chance to call our tech that was at your house and he said that a light bulb would not fix your problem. It might temporarily fix it but the permanent fix is an entirely new light assembly. Not just a bulb. If it was a bulb, we can get you a bulb for $59 if you would like but we do not feel that is the fix. I read through your post and I don't know what responsibility you want me to take. We gave you a price to refinish the entire bottom of your pool and that does not need to happen so you went form $8,000 to $2,000. That saved you money the way I see it. Lastly, the staff member responded to all of your emails until she got off of work. When you continued to send emails, she responded, on her own time at 1:36AM after your 1:12AM email. Can't even tell me how many gallons are in the pool, and I sent her 3 websites for both calculations and estimates. I just talked to my lawyer, and he said, where he lives, nobody is opening up their pools due to COVID-19. Just be honest, and we will have problems during this tragic part of our American and world history. Covering up, and having to contact you, just to answer basic questions, with nothing written down, or explanations is simply absurd. Yes, you need to take responsibility for your company, and not pretend you are amazon, providing urgent supplies to the nation during this weary time. More excuses...I don't need. We put a pool in with Aqua last year and Jim and his team where awesome, very professional and finished in a timely matter. What really impressed me was how they treated us when they where done and paid, we're new pool people and every time we needed help or had questions they came right out and helped us. We had an appointment on Wednesday at 11 and when we got there Nicki asked us what we were there for, and we said we had an appointment. So she went in the back and came back after a few minutes to tell us that the person we were supposed to meet with, Gage, did not come in because he was in contact with a covid person. We said that this was unacceptable and that someone should have called us and canceled given that we drove half hour to get to their store. I posted my review on google and the owner replied, rather than calling us and apologizing and possible rescheduling, saying in his reply that Gage left the store with a fever of 101. We never got a call to reschedule. This is very disappointing given that it was our first time and we were there for information. We will not go there again nor will we recommend the place to anyone! Don't ever use Aqua Pools in Homer Glen, unless you don't care about your money or customer service! They installed a $50,000 pool, one of their largest, and within 2 years had to replace the heater and had to pay for it because they blamed it all on us! How did we break the heater?!?! We purchased a winterizing kit from Aqua Pools called TLC Total Leisure Concepts. This is a private label winterizing kit manufactured by N.Jonas & Co, Bensalem, PA. Upon pouring the container of algaecide into a pail, the first half of the container poured fine. The second half was rock hard and unusable. It was taken back to the store for replacement due to it's defective nature. The owner, Jim, told us this product needs boiling hot water added to remove it from the jar and this is the correct way to use this product. WHAT? No algaecide has that on their directions! He would not give a refund, stating it was half used. Instead of offering good customer service by replacing this bottle, Jim chose to be argumentative by saying he's been selling pool supplies for fifteen years and he knows what he's talking about. Well, I've been shutting down my own pool for 40years and no winterizing kit or algaecide comes with those instructions! In front of all his other customers, he was argumentative and deceitful! BEWARE! The product is relatively inexpensive but lying to customers and not standing behind the products being sold is costly. Read the other complaints here about this store. He has a 'reason' for every mishap. Notice, it's never his fault and blames the customer. If this was the only pool store around, I'd fill mine with sand, call it a bunker and practice my golf game from it. read more

Had an appointment scheduled to open our pool, I told them it was our first time opening the pool since we have owned the house. They canceled the appointment without calling or knocking on our door after they saw that the pump was not hooked up and the spill over spa could not be opened because the rain. It had been raining all morning and they knew we had a spill over spa. It would have been nice to be notified that we needed to have the pump hooked up before they open the pool. They offered to reschedule but the lack of communication is very frustrating, we will be using a different company. read more

We went to their store, twice. The second time we gave them all the information they requested, the plat of survey and all our wishes. Each time we talked to someone at the store, we didn't get too much information, bare minimum. After we gave them the plat of survey for our property, we were told that someone will calls us in a couple of days to let us know what size of pool we can put in. 2 weeks later, nobody called, so I called them to find out what is going on. Nobody knew anything about our plat of survey that we gave them and all our information. I guess it just disappeared. I was pretty much told that it's my fault that I didn't ask for a business card from the person we talked to. I described the person, I told them the date we were there, so it's not hard to find out who was on the schedule that day. Apparently the person we talked to had no recollection of our plat of survey. So what happened is that that person didn't do her job and lost our document. By waiting these 2 weeks for someone to call me, if I would sign with them today to get a pool, the start date of building it moved from May (2 weeks ago ) to September. I just lost 3 months of summer in 2021, because of someone not doing their job properly, or at all, in our case. I will not do business with them anymore. read more
