I was a bit hesitant to work with an agency, but it worked out great, given the expense of last minute travel to a Department of State Passport Agency. APVI was very helpful in helping me gather the materials together I needed. Don't think that this service will be doing all the work for you...you need to take the time to gather all the forms and prepare your documents, photo, check payment, etc., and then they send you a FedEx label to mail to APVI. Also, you should know up front that you will also be paying an expedited fee to the Department of State on top of what you pay to APVI. Interestingly enough, although APVI's address is in D.C., my materials were all sent to Chicago, which is okay by me, if that's what's easiest for them. My passport arrived exactly on the day APVI said it would, it was well worth the expense. I did have a hard time scheduling a consultation with them on the first day, their staff keeps very busy and it might be hard getting in touch with them. These guys screwed me over so badly. They missed the deadline to submit my paperwork and couldn't get my passport back to me in time to make my trip. While they were apologetic, when I called them to get an update on my purchase and they told me they hadn't submitted it yet, they weren't helpful; for only $400 they would submit my paperwork the following day and then I could drive the 4 hours to DC to pick it up myself! So I placed an order for an expedited passport, and was willing and ready to shell out almost $450 total for everything. However, when I spoke to the representative, whose name is Johnny, he told me that he wanted to warn me that the State has been taking longer than expected lately to release the passports in a timely manner, and that he could not guarantee I'd receive my passport in time. (I paid for 24 hour turnaround time, and he said there's a chance it could take 2-3 business days, which was cutting it too close to my travel date). I really appreciate his honesty. He took the time to explain the whole process to me, and why there might be a delay. This guy has a conscience, and rather than take my money and promise me something he knew he might not be able to fulfill--- he was honest with me and suggested I go a different route. The world sucks now, and there are so many mean-spirited people... it was so refreshing to speak to someone that actually cared enough to save me a lot of money and hassle. So I was worried about getting my passport on time and I did a google search about how I could get it the fastest. I found great reviews for a place called APVI express. Once I called, they explained the process to a T and let me know what I had to do, in full detail. Once I got setup and sent in my order, I was introduced to Johnny M who helped me handle my case all the way through. Johnny was polite, professional, and helped me EVERY step of the way. One of the things he warned me of was that if I had any mistakes, that we'd have to probably restart the process or make some changes, which could then in turn cause a delay. I must have called Johnny like 12 times in one day.. and each time, he was more than willing to help me, never seemed annoyed, and I can admit that I was a bit frantic about getting this all done in time. Johnny assured me of the process, was detailed in telling me about each step. He even went above and beyond by letting me know where my local passport agent was, all the associated fees, and how exactly to sign and process everything. Making this process easy was something I truly appreciated. Anyone who's lost a passport knows how frustrating this can be, so the fact that Johnny made this easy for me was something I truly appreciated. I had to have my 1 year passport replaced with a 10 year passport and after making me complete all the paperwork they called and told me that they don't offer that specific service. The absolute worst. Not sure where to begin. I needed a Brasil Visa 7 days before travel and did some research online to find the most reputable provider and landed on APVI. Everything upfront was fantastic in terms of direction and guidance. I followed everything to the T and I was informed I would receive my passport back and Visa that Friday before my Monday travel. Friday arrives and no passport. I received no phone calls/messages from APVI and left phone messages/emails and got nothing back in reply. Nevertheless I missed my trip, lost the full value of my business class ticket, and lost valuable business time/meetings. I heard nothing back from APVI until the following Monday when they informed me that someone had forgotten to give my passport to the delivery service, sorry. All I received was a $100.00 credit. Unbelievable. Yes, things happen, but communicating with your customers when they do, especially for such a critical item should be the rule, not the exception. I used this service recently to order a passport when I realized I could not find mine only a week before I had to leave. I was worried about it being a scam, but I had a very pleasant experience with the company. I'll summarize. Pros: Fast service. They offer as fast as 24 hours, which is the service I used (although read below for a warning on this) Very easy to contact. I called them at least a dozen times to check on the process and see how the passport was coming along. You should definitely call them before giving them any money just to make sure they can process your order when you need it Takes care of everything for you. You just send them the materials, they go to the state department and apply for the passport, they send it back to you. Painless. They have a clear list (after you pay them) of what you need to send in and how to do it. It's very easy to follow the steps they list out. Cons: It's expensive. You pay them a fee on top of what you pay the state department. If you have time, you can start filling out the form and they may email you a discount code, but the expedited services are expensive and there's really no way around it. However, if you leave it to the last minute or lose your passport, that's just how it is. They don't tell you what you need to prepare as far as documents go until you pay them. I had looked at other services and the state department website and had an idea of what I would need, but you go in pretty blind until you pay them, after which they are very helpful. Timing. READ THIS. If you choose the rush order you MUST account for the time it will take to mail the materials to their office and the time it will take to mail them back. They need to receive your package from fedex by 8:30 AM or they will process it the next day, which can set you back a day in your plans. Then you need to wait for them to fedex it to you, so depending on the timing you could be looking at 3-4 days for the 24 hour service, which is the fastest they offer. Make sure you have enough cushion time. I live in DC and was able to deliver my package to their office, but it was still three days worth of time for the 24 hour service for me to give them my materials and get them back. I was sure to call them ahead of time and make sure they could process the order before my travel date, so if you're unsure I really recommend contacting them first. Related, you need to be aware that not only will you have to prepare the materials, but also get them packaged by a passport acceptance agent, which usually entails making an appointment at a usps office. Be prepared to spend some time contacting the office(s) in your area and making an appointment. Some are walk in, but you may need to wait around for a couple hours at these locations. Getting my application materials together meant I had to take a day off of work. Overall: Good service, got the job done when I needed it. Very clear and willing to keep in contact with me. But be very sure they can do what you need before you give them $100-$400 and make sure you have the time to dedicate to putting the application together. They came through for me and hopefully your process will be as smooth as mine was. read more

My company planned a last minute business trip for me to go to South Korea, and not having a passport, I had to acquire one within 5 days. I thought about trying to expedite the process with the state department, but I didn't have a full day to stand in line. I found APVI through google and decided to try this as a last minute solution. There was one issue with the application, but it was the fault of the acceptance agent at the US Post Office. APVI took the necessary steps to make sure that the issue wouldn't hinder my travel plans, and the customer service was great. We had a terrific experience with this service. We were obtaining a passport for a child and the situation was complicated. Suffice it to say that there were numerous factors such as court orders and name discrepancy problems (the child's name wasn't the same on his birth certificate as it was going to be on his passport since it had been changed legally since his birth). Even with all of this, this service was very prompt, sending us detailed directions for what was needed. Of course we still had to assemble all the necessary paperwork (court orders, etc) and bring it to the passport reviewing service. So they do their part, and you of course definitely have to do yours. But once we had everything together, took it to the passport reviewer and it was approved and given back to us in a sealed envelope, we returned it in the FEdEx overnight envelope they sent us. We had paid for the 5-9 day service and they were Even faster than promised!! They maintained contact at all times and gave us tracking numbers so we knew the status the whole time. They are definitely worth it and if I had to do it over we would most definitely use them again. We highly recommend if you or someone you love needs a passport quickly. read more
