Our project began when I came home to visit my mom and smelled gas: her old cooktop (and I mean 20+ years old) was leaking gas internally, and PG&E came around to shut the gas off. After discovering that all the standard-sized cooktops were either too big for her cabinets or too small for the existing opening, I finally got an idea to check IKEA and found that their european sizing would work perfectly. The problem was: how to install the cooktop? I used Yelp to send quotes out to many appliance servicing and repair companies and 4Wires was the first to respond. Based on my description of the issue alone, Farhad was confident he could help us with the install and asked if we might also send photos. I obliged and be provided a very reasonable quote for the work the same day. Farhad was very flexible about finding a date and time that worked for us. He arrived within the window he gave us and before entering attempted to put booties on his shoes before we insisted that wasn't necessary. We had the space prepped for him and had even purchased supplies he might need (like a flexible hose), but Farhad assured us that we could leave everything to him. As I mentioned, this project was for my mother, who is older and hard of hearing. Farhad explained everything he was going to do very clearly and was totally patient with my mom--something even I have difficulty managing sometimes! Before he made any cuts, he took careful measurements and drew exactly how the cooktop would sit. We discussed some challenges with the job, such as the placement of the pre-existing gas line, and Farhad gave recommendations and clear explanations, so we felt confident in his judgement. I could tell that he was passionate about his work and cared about the quality of the finish. At one point, my mom mentioned that it would probably be easier for him to cut just one side of the opening, but he insisted we should center the cooktop so it would sit properly under the hood and look more esthetically pleasing. When we expressed concerns about keeping the edges clean and asking if caulk would be necessary, he assured us that he had a tape that would secure the cooktop without causing damage during future removals or repairs like cutting caulk away would. I had to leave for work before the project really got underway, but when I spoke to my mom afterwards she gushed about the mastery of Farhad's skill. The cuts were precise and he didn't take out more of the countertop than was necessary. The placement of the gas line posed to be a logistical and safety concern, and so he moved it to be more accessible, saving us from having to call in a plumber to do the work. He worked neatly and efficiently: despite this being a rather complicated job, he was finished in a few hours. When I visited my mom's after work, I had to marvel at how beautifully the cooktop fit. Everything was in good working order as well, and my mom could start using the cooktop that night. She also mentioned to me that Farhad obliged her by looking at a few other projects in the house, including a light in the kitchen that wasn't working properly and another one in the closet. Farhad gave good advice about the light in the kitchen and even offered to come back and address the closet light the next time he was in town--truly above and beyond! Not only does Farhad do incredible work, he is also a decent and kind human being. If his interactions with my mom weren't enough, he candidly shared details about his family and the life they are building here in the US, and it felt good to support this very hardworking and honest man. Honestly, I think he doesn't charge enough for his expert work and service! In my mind, there is no one else I will ever call for any future appliance need. Warranty Misrepresentation, Management Silence, and Zero Accountability…read more I am extremely disappointed with Airport Home Appliance and would strongly caution others before purchasing extended warranties here. In May 2023, I purchased several major appliances under Invoice #SOA52784 and made it clear that I wanted the appropriate extended warranties for my appliances. I relied on Airport Home Appliance's expertise when selecting both the appliances and the warranties. No documentation was provided that would have allowed a reasonable customer to verify that the warranty sold was incorrect or incomplete. Fast forward ~1.5 years: my Café induction range (stove) requires a $1,200 repair. This is exactly the type of failure extended warranty coverage is intended to address. Beginning November 20, 2024, I contacted Airport Home Appliance repeatedly (Nov 20, Nov 26, Dec 3, early Dec, and Dec 10) requesting warranty assistance. Every single time, I was told that a manager would call me back. No one ever did. When I finally received a written response from the store manager, it referenced the wrong appliance entirely (the refrigerator) and failed to address the actual issue: that Airport Home Appliance sold the wrong warranty and provided no documentation to reasonably identify the mistake at the time of purchase. The response simply stated that a warranty could not be added now -- completely missing the point. Since that response, Airport Home Appliance has gone silent. This experience shows: Poor warranty guidance at point of sale No documentation transparency Repeated broken promises of management follow-up Incorrect and careless responses from leadership Complete lack of accountability once payment is made For a company selling high-end appliances and extended warranties, this level of customer service and post-sale support is unacceptable. If you are considering Airport Home Appliance, be aware that once there is a problem, you may be on your own.
