I lay on the floor and looked under it, felt behind it, checked the rear of the compartment to see if something had fallen inside, but I could find nothing to keep it from closing. But it would not shut. As anyone who owns a Sub-Zero knows, an alarm sounds when the doors remain open, and there's no way to turn it off. So, every 30 minutes or so, the alarm kicks in. Needless to say, I wanted this fixed promptly and correctly. There are only two certified Sub-Zero repair services in my area. I called one, and the wait was about 10 days. When I called Best Appliance, they were able to send a technician in four days. It was difficult living with the sound of the alarm, but early Monday morning, Dennis arrived on time and immediately assessed a problem he'd seen before. One side of the railings were stuck because of ice. He went in, took the railings on both sides apart and cleared the buildup. There was no ding, ding, ding, ding while he worked or when he finished. He also recommended I buy new railings. They had been updated and improved, he said, and they were much less likely to have this problem. I'd had my Sub-Zero for 10 years, so I took the advice. He installed them two days later. They glide much more smoothly than the ones I previously had. I paid about $650 for parts and labor, and I'm delighted with the value I received. He answered all my questions and gave me a couple of tips that will come in handy. I highly recommend Best Appliance.

They even called to say they could squeeze me in a day earlier if it worked with my schedule. Their technician, Jay, arrived about 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment block. We tried repairing it ourselves by first replacing the water inlet valve, but that didn't help. Then we replaced one of the hoses that had a small hole. Still no luck. When we found out family would be visiting for spring break it was time to get it professionally repaired. Wakehub was quickly available and when technician Kiryl arrived Thursday he meticulously checked everything on the dishwasher before discovering, after pulling it out and turning it on its side, that apparently a rat had chewed all the way through the pump hose and also built a little nest under my dishwasher! Yikes! Kiryl said this was not a part that he kept in stock because it is so specialized, but he could order it and should be able to install it in about three days. I told him that we had really hoped to get it fixed before company arrived in two days. He then looked through his supplies and found a pump hose, unfortunately the measurements were off so it would not work. He gave me a very reasonable quote on the repair and said he would do everything he could to get it done before Saturday. The next day, Friday, I was pleasantly surprised upon receiving a message from Kiryl saying he would be here in 30 minutes to install the part. True to his word, he arrived and took about an hour to replace the part and show me how the dishwasher was now working. What a relief! Kiryl is the most polite and accommodating service person I have ever had in my home. He is incredibly thorough and knowledgeable about his craft, and went above and beyond in meeting our needs.
