My family's experience working with Farhad was hands down THE BEST experience we have ever had hiring someone for home improvement work. Our project began when I came home to visit my mom and smelled gas: her old cooktop (and I mean 20+ years old) was leaking gas internally, and PG&E came around to shut the gas off. After discovering that all the standard-sized cooktops were either too big for her cabinets or too small for the existing opening, I finally got an idea to check IKEA and found that their european sizing would work perfectly. The problem was: how to install the cooktop? I used Yelp to send quotes out to many appliance servicing and repair companies and 4Wires was the first to respond. Based on my description of the issue alone, Farhad was confident he could help us with the install and asked if we might also send photos. I obliged and be provided a very reasonable quote for the work the same day. Farhad was very flexible about finding a date and time that worked for us. He arrived within the window he gave us and before entering attempted to put booties on his shoes before we insisted that wasn't necessary. We had the space prepped for him and had even purchased supplies he might need (like a flexible hose), but Farhad assured us that we could leave everything to him. As I mentioned, this project was for my mother, who is older and hard of hearing. Farhad explained everything he was going to do very clearly and was totally patient with my mom--something even I have difficulty managing sometimes! Before he made any cuts, he took careful measurements and drew exactly how the cooktop would sit. We discussed some challenges with the job, such as the placement of the pre-existing gas line, and Farhad gave recommendations and clear explanations, so we felt confident in his judgement. I could tell that he was passionate about his work and cared about the quality of the finish. At one point, my mom mentioned that it would probably be easier for him to cut just one side of the opening, but he insisted we should center the cooktop so it would sit properly under the hood and look more esthetically pleasing. When we expressed concerns about keeping the edges clean and asking if caulk would be necessary, he assured us that he had a tape that would secure the cooktop without causing damage during future removals or repairs like cutting caulk away would. I had to leave for work before the project really got underway, but when I spoke to my mom afterwards she gushed about the mastery of Farhad's skill. The cuts were precise and he didn't take out more of the countertop than was necessary. The placement of the gas line posed to be a logistical and safety concern, and so he moved it to be more accessible, saving us from having to call in a plumber to do the work. He worked neatly and efficiently: despite this being a rather complicated job, he was finished in a few hours. When I visited my mom's after work, I had to marvel at how beautifully the cooktop fit. Everything was in good working order as well, and my mom could start using the cooktop that night. She also mentioned to me that Farhad obliged her by looking at a few other projects in the house, including a light in the kitchen that wasn't working properly and another one in the closet. Farhad gave good advice about the light in the kitchen and even offered to come back and address the closet light the next time he was in town--truly above and beyond! Not only does Farhad do incredible work, he is also a decent and kind human being. If his interactions with my mom weren't enough, he candidly shared details about his family and the life they are building here in the US, and it felt good to support this very hardworking and honest man. Honestly, I think he doesn't charge enough for his expert work and service! In my mind, there is no one else I will ever call for any future appliance need. Farhad opened the machine to empty the filter. It costs $65 to clean the filter every time but he put a hole where the filter is so I can clean it myself! He was the only person who answered his phone, and gave me a rough estimate of what it would potentially cost me. Most of the other highly rated companies did not answer the phone or return my call. Farhad, the owner was honest, reliable and punctual. He offered to put on a mask and use shoe covers. He also cleaned up after himself and left his work area clean. This is 2nd time Farhad came out for us. Last time was to fix our whirlpool double oven back in January (still working fine). This time was for our Samsung stove top where the main burner was igniting which required us to use a lighter. Farhad diagnosed the problem quickly and explained why it wasn't working (contamination breaking the circuit). He serviced it and works fine again. The drain pump broke on my washing machine and I considered this an emergency (not only because I'm spoiled by the comforts of modern technology, but also because I was on my period the week it broke and washing period underwear by hand in the sink feels like time traveling to a place I never want to go). I messaged 3 repair places, and 4Wires was the one that got back to me the soonest with a next-day appointment, so I chose them. They gave me a 2-hour window of time, and then texted me the last minute in that window to say they would be an hour late. So, that was annoying, but at least they were still coming. When the repair person arrived an hour later, I requested that they wear a mask and they agreed without complaint. That was nice. They replaced the drain pump in only 1 hour, which was great. The only bad part was how expensive it was. The cost for replacing a drain pump was $465. The internet says the part only costs $45, so that means 4Wires charges $420 an hour for labor. Either I went into the wrong line of work or they're overpriced. I was in the midst of a "laundry emergency", so I paid it, but I won't use them again. read more

I recently moved to Elk Grove and my movers had dismantled my new Samsung refrigerator to get it through the doors at my old house. It has been sitting in the garage at my new rental house here in EG for a couple of months because the rental home came with a refrigerator. The refrigerator that was in the kitchen was nowhere near as nice as my refrigerator that was sitting in the garage disassembled so I finally decided to hire someone to bring the new one in the house and reassemble it and hook the waterline up. So got home from hospital after being there for about 4-5 days, and we had just restocked our fridge and freezer the day b4 going to the hospital. Not knowing we were going to be gone for the next few days. Get home to find our freezer is leaking and all my food in the freezer is thawing out. Ribs, steaks, chicken wings and more wasted.
