Pedro and his teams did a great job for us overall. We needed to resurface the cement on our front porch and add a railing for safety. From the beginning to end, Pedro was an excellent communicator. He was very responsive to both text and calls. He came quickly for an estimate and then fit us into the schedule. The pressure washing job was excellent. Then the cement team came to do the resurfacing. The main part of that was beautiful, but there were some cracks at corners and seams. Pedro got a team back to do some fixes, and we were happy with the final result. It was harder to get the railing team in. Took him 3 tries with 3 different subs to get them out, so there was a couple of weeks delay. Throughout, Pedro kept me informed of what was going on. Pedro was such a pleasure to work with and communicating with him was great. We had a change to the framing of our driveway we asked if he could make and he happily agreed to do it. We were worried it would be extra work for him or difficult but he just wanted us to be happy with the end result. His workers also dug out two large plants for us last minute that we initially didn't think needed to be removed. Pretty impressed with the work from Pedro and his crew. I got a total of 4 bids and his turned out to be the most competitive. We were looking for a demo and repour of our old concrete patio that was all kinds of cracked and uneven along with adding a new 6' x 14' slab. During the consultation, Pedro was very knowledgeable and gave me thoughtful solutions to my worries about water pooling in areas and not having enough drainage. Since this was in my backyard patio, the crew had to wheelbarrow out all the old concrete and the new concrete but was able to pull it off in a total of 4 days. Apple's caught my eye because it was a locally owned family business. I called, and Pedro came out same day to measure and quote our project. I had 2 other quotes and Pedro was very competitive with pricing. I felt comfortable with him and the quote and moved forward. He said that they would be able to complete the project within a few weeks. To my surprise he texted and asked if they could start the demo and prep on Saturday same week! The guys came over on Saturday to dig and prep for paver install on Monday. Very friendly team and very communicative! Monday came and they started to lay the pavers. By the end of the day they had about 50% of the work done. We anticipated a Wednesday finish, but they killed it and finished by 5pm on Tuesday! They all did a phenomenal job! This review is for the driveway project done in January 2024. Pedro's team did a new driveway and walkway plus channel drain for my in-laws place. We are happy about the quality of work after almost a year and the drain works very well in many rain storms. He also accommodated my last minute design change on the walkway. Pedro's team did a great job. Pedro is very responsive, unlike a few other contractors we tried talking to. His team did a lot of prep work and clearly did the right thing throughout the process, even when it wasn't easy. They demolished existing asphalt and brick and dug up grass. They trimmed hedges out of the way, buried a rain downspout and ran plumbing under the concrete pour, worked with me to bury two tubes for future irrigation lines, and did their best to blend the concrete pour with our existing asphalt. They used rebar and added in the Davis Color "sandstone" color to the concrete, giving it the color you see. A bunch of guys worked hard and they were very pleasant to talk to. Our front porch has a free-floating concrete slab that you step onto off of a wooden deck on a craftsman style front porch. Portions of the concrete were settling due to poor construction by the original builder who did not compact the ground sufficiently and did not use rebar in the concrete. Pedro and his crew demolished the settling concrete, added rock and compacted the ground, reformed the sections using rebar, and repoured the concrete. Prior to performing the concrete work, the project required removal of aluminum railing and a step to the wooden porch to access part of the concrete, and also removal of shrubbery. Upon completion of the concrete work, Pedro rebuilt the step and had the railing reinstalled. He also removed the roots from the shrubs which enabled me to easily replant the area. This was not an easily accessible area to perform repairs to. It sits atop a rockery that had to be worked around. In walking my dog all over neighborhoods around our house, I see projects that start and sit uncompleted, so I was a little concerned; because if that had been the case in our situation, it would have denied us access to our house except through the garage. Pedro started the job on time. He and his crew were here every day for five days until the job was completed. They were at all times responsive and professional. Pedro's cost to perform the work was more fair than another estimate I received and there were no hidden charges at the end. Their overall workmanship on the project was excellent. I have another project I am considering in the back area of our house, and I would not hesitate to contact Pedro when we're ready. We just finished our project with Pedro and his crew and it turned out excellent. Our project was large and complicated, with multiple stairways, platforms, landing pads, curves, etc. The crew worked extremely hard, hauling away substantial debris (by hand, uphill) and hauled in tons of concrete (by hand) given lack of access. The crew communicated throughout, asking if forms were approved before pouring and making adjustments where requested. The project ended up taking longer than anticipated due to unknown existing material conditions, but there was only the slightest additional charge related to additional material cost, which was more than reasonable. Particularly since Pedro's bid was the most competitive we received. The end result is as we envisioned it and we are very happy with the way it looks. We have a lot more concrete to replace on our property and will certainly be giving Pedro a call when we are ready for the next phase. read more

From our first consultation meeting, to the completion of the job, Pedro and his crew were professional, punctual, and communicative. I had a cracked cement retaining driveway wall that needed to be replaced. It was a bit tricky, as a drainage pipe sat right next to the wall. The house was built in 1949, so the drainage pipe (that feeds into the sewer line) is made of clay. Pedro and his crew excavated around the wall, then hand dug the area around the pipe to make sure no damage would be done to the clay pipe. Beyond craftsmanship, what really stood out about Pedro was his punctuality to all of our meetings. I met with Pedro twice before accepting his bid and the fact that he was punctual to all of our meetings, gave me confidence that he would also complete our job on time (weather baring). Pedro also stayed on budget and did not go a dollar over our agreed upon bid price. Great communication with Pedro at the beginning stating quality of work, price and warranty for a driveway install. (We had gravel/dirt before) Overall, good job with the driveway. My wife and I are happy with the driveway. I should have been tipped off when he gave the estimate using super loose measurements. Then the job started and one of the borders was incorrect. I asked to correct and I got a response of no problem, that's more concrete. No change order or price adjustment of any kind mentioned. Then Pedro texted me mentioning needing to "trim " a tree. This trim ended up taking out 1/3 of the entire tree, making an odd eye sore in front of my house. I mention this and Pedro says "it will grow back, it was in the way." Keep in mind we had new foundation poured at my home a couple years ago and the tree was not in the way. The cement truck went all the way down the gravel driveway and was good. Anyway, the tree now massacred, also his crew broke my pathway lights. -they replaced these with different type but hey, they tried to make it right so that's a plus. Then he says "when can I collect payment" and hits me with a 23% up charge, over his estimate, for the "more concrete". I asked for paperwork of this and asked when he was going to tell me the work performed is $2,000 more that he thought. He said he texted me, and he did, saying "that's more concrete", but there was never talk of charge, change order, $$$ or the +23% over estimate. This is not okay. Any adjustments to the initial estimate should have authorization. After this I ask for the paperwork again, he emails it with "I regret taking this job". "I didn't make any money" Why email me this when you made the estimate and you are the pro? I don't make driveways. I rely on the pro to tell me how much it costs and go from there. When he came to pick up the remaining balance he said thanks. I asked "thanks? You said you regret this job?" He said "whatever man" and bounced. Now I have a good driveway but am left feeling like I got taken and guilty for his mis-measurements in the beginning. If that's really what the issue was? Oh well. $10k gone but at least I don't park on muddy gravel anymore. 3 stars for overall completion time, product received etc. 0 stars for service and communication/expectation matters. **Edit: Now it says the business is closed? (3/12/2020) Removing a star as my warranty is probably void now. read more

We so highly recommend Pedro and his crew. They created a concrete sidewalk to lead up to an existing wheelchair ramp, and the end product surpassed our expectations by far. When the weather put a literal damper on the plan, he quickly let us know that the start time would be adjusted (only by a few hours) to wait for the rain to stop. We ended up adding a little square footage from the original plan to include a landing pad for a new set of stairs off a new deck. My naturally curious husband frequently went outside to admire the progress and never felt like he was intruding or unwelcome. The crew worked so quickly! Our project was totally complete in two full days. They disposed of the displaced soil (but gave us the option to keep it if we wanted), and even were kind enough to dispose of the giant, heavy pavers that had been in a section of where the new sidewalk is. Pedro and crew educated us on how to care for the concrete to make sure it lasts an incredibly long time. I can't say enough about the excellent experience we had with Apples Construction.
