We had work done by Apple's Construction in March. Pedro and his team came to us at a pivotal point in the condition of our house - we were right in the middle of a roof replacement by another company, and needed our two chimneys (one for the fireplace and one for the oil heating exhaust) to be repaired/refurbished due to some crumbling brick among other issues. The roofers had to pause their work until the chimneys were sorted out, and Apple's was one of or maybe the only company that would come out on such short notice. We were previously planning to replace our old chimneys with metal ones, but at the last minute we found the circumstances wouldn't allow for that plan to work. We were also dealing with a lot of rain and wind coming down on our incomplete roof, which seemed fine because the underlayment was already installed on the roof, but caused us anxiety anyway. Thus, it was crucial that the chimneys be replaced well, with good care and in a timely manner. If you've had masonry work done before, you know it involves a lot of debris that can damage property if not done carefully. Pedro and his guys were helpful in keeping me informed about the process. I asked them many questions regarding the process and the quality of the work, which to some companies can seem overbearing; however, we wanted to make sure the work was done right and could not afford extra costs or a bad repair. Never was Apple's dismissive of our concerns; they went into detail about how they would complete the project and even invited me up to the roof to show me the finished product. There was a very pleasant surprise along the way, as well. Long ago, our chimneys were built with a kind of brick that is no longer sold in stores and very hard to find. While discussing the project beforehand, Pedro and I agreed that the only way to repair the brick would be to take out the damage/chipped bricks and replace them with mortar. That just seemed like the reality. But on the day work began, Pedro brought some bricks that were sized at the exact specifications we needed. How he found these blocks is a mystery but we were thrilled since we expected only mortar patches, which would serve to repair the chimney but not look too great. Within three or four visits the damaged bricks were taken out and replaced, the old mortar that sealed the bricks together grinded out and re-tuck pointed, the chimneys pressure washed to remove moss/other debris and sealer applied. Our chimneys look phenomenal now; in fact they are the best looking in the neighborhood, and it was well worth the money. Our roofers were then able to come back and finish the job, which obviously couldn't have happened without Pedro and his team. I would recommend Apple's Construction for your masonry needs. We also saw that they do driveways/patios and would consider them for such a job in the future. read more

We found Apple's Construction from a Google Search. Pedro is a lovely person and his crew was hardworking. We are overall happy with the final product but I would not recommend Apple's given their lack of attention to detail to finish out the job, messiness, poor communication, and frustrating customer service. The quote they provided us with wasn't detailed at all and was copy and pasted from a previous job, making it hard to know exactly what we were paying for. Then they requested final payment before the project was complete and were really difficult to get a hold of to come back to finish the job once we provided final payment (our mistake for paying them before it was done). The concrete patio they poured looks great in the end, but has a pretty significant divot that collects water that we are frustrated with, and if it wasn't for us nudging them countless times, they wouldn't have come back to finish the details like sanding the edges of the concrete. Most frustrating of all, they poured concrete against siding on our house that has dry rot without informing us or placing any pressure treated wood there. Their work exposed more siding to our house that they didn't even cover up with flashing. We now have even more moisture coming into the house due to the exposed siding that they didn't deal with, and the work to replace the dry rot is going to be even more difficult because they poured concrete right up against it. These guys were moving way too quickly to do truly quality work, not worth $10k from our perspective. read more
