I have been coming to this Applebees more than six nights a week for more than 20 years. I was a regular regular and it was a comfortable place for many, many years. Now I have no plans to ever go back. Approximately a year ago a new group of regulars began coming in and they have taken over the atmosphere. Constant profanity, misogynistic comments directed at servers, and inappropriate comments are the new atmosphere brought by these regular bar guests. This is not a family restaurant atmosphere. To make matters even worse, the management seems to have little interest in stopping this constant profanity and/or any concerns over the inappropriate and misogynistic comments directed at their own servers/bartenders. This is not a good choice for anyone with children, not a good choice unless you are willing to listen to a loud and constant barrage of f-bombs and other vulgar language. read more

I'm a regular but I had the worst experience this evening. First, our original server was not friendly and very short. We asked for a different server but the key manager suggested moving us which I did not want to do. She had a trainee take over. The trainee was wonderful. When my food arrived it was entered wrong. I'm a vegetarian so I requested a pasta bowl with no chicken. Our original server had put the order in as a pasta bowl with no broccoli. Less than 5 minutes after the new server took the wrong bowl back, she comes back with a new bowl that had no chicken in it. I'm sorry but i have a feeling like i know what happened and do does everyone else reading this review. I've never complained about this place until now. I am truly disappointed. read more

Got put on waiting list while I was in schoolcraft ok 25-27 mins ok I can make that or so I thought we'll I cancelled that one and made another one when I got to centreville 12-27 mins ok that works by the time I got through centreville my waiting time went up ok no problem gives me time if I get behind Sunday drivers on a Saturday ( which I did) anyways when I get there we are 3rd in line ok great looked 15 mins later 2nd in line wait time unknown please see host so we did said there was still another 30 min or better wait. Look around there are tables empty that hadn't been cleaned off and then a couple ladies came in looked at the hostess and asked if they could just sit at the bar the hostess said sure you can do that. Excuse me we were on waitlist they just walked in behind us and are allowed to sit at bar, so why wasn't we offered that opportunity there was only 2 of us. I get people eat at their own speed but when you got about ten tables that are clearly being used but not cleaned off yet that is where I draw the line. I was really wanting a steak, settled for Culver's instead and we weren't the only ones that left there and went to Culver's. This was an awful experience. Not being offered bar seating but two other were given that opportunity. I'm not saying I won't go back but maybe next time I will ask for the bar instead of them offering first. read more

It's an Applebee's. It's exactly what you would expect. Decent food. Decent environment. Nothing amazing, but nothing amiss.

Hermosa is the best waitress I have had in a while. She was so attentive and did everything above and beyond. Amazing woman and she deserves a raise because it's hard to find friendly and good people now a days. Definitely will be back. The food is always good here and the ambiance is a vibe. Look forward to coming more. I travel for business here every couple of weeks and she's definitely a keeper. read more

Tried going to this Applebee's last night, was in Shipshewana for a horse show and the sidewalks rolled up about 8 pm there. So we looked up restaurants near us that was supposed to be open until 11pm on Thursday night. We got there a little after 10 and we got out of our suv and we heard a click at the front door. Needless to say they locked us out. If your time schedule is posted at the door and on website you should be open till 11 pm. Poor customer relations and can still see people eating their meals. Waited 45 min for a table. Ordered a perfect margarita with salt on rim. Came with sugar in rim. Got our appetizers. Got finished with that. Waitress comes by asks if we would like dessert. I said OK and we would like to have our meals before we get dessert. Got margarita back and I swear it was all alcohol. Hunted down the manager myself she makes me a new one. You know what you're going to get at Applebees, and this one is no different. The service was fine and pleasant, got a free appetizer by checking in on Yelp. The food was tasty, I had the 2 for 25 meal selection which was a fine value. Nothing stood out as incredible, but nothing stood out as poor. Standard, expected, pleasant. read more

Server was very rude and never told us they were out of fried shrimp. My husband ordered fried shrimp and she said they were out of it. He had to re-scan the menu and she stood there and rolled her eyes! No pre-bussing done, we had to ask her to take away our appetizer dish! Had to ask for a ice tea refill, then when she brought it she handed it to my husband and put it right in front of my face and said nothing. Very rude. We went today to celebrate my daughters birthday and they messed up our order majorly! First they brought my plate out 10+ minutes before everyone else's food was even going to be ready. Then they didn't bring my husband's steak out so he ended up eating my salad and mozzarella sticks for his meal. Once they finally brought it out it was the wrong steak so we asked for the correct steak and they again brought out the wrong one. When they brought a refill for the Sierra Mist it was all carbonated water so we thought after she replaced it she would bring a new one but never did. I had the pleasure of dining here last night while in town on business. Usually, when I travel, I prefer to eat at local joints, non-franchised...but if you've ever been to Sturgis, you quickly realize that this is about as "fine dining" as you can get. Besides, I just wasn't feeling Mexican food or fast food, so Applebee's it was. My server was Tom, a very friendly and chatty guy who genuinely seemed to enjoy his job. Check-in on Yelp got me free fried green beans (score!) which were delicious. The main course was the grilled salmon with a side of fire roasted veggies. Everything was phenominal! The salmon was perfectly grilled, moist and flavorful. But those veggies...WOW! I'm very impartial to veggies in general, especially lately, but these were in a class of their own. All in all, great experience. The next time I'm in town, Applebee's will be on the radar...unless I'm feeling like Mexican food. read more

Curbside needs work!. I have ordered To Go several times and every time I have had to go in and get my food. Today I waited 10min then called and let them know I was there, waited another 5 min and I just went in. Turned out the order was all wrong so just got my money back and left. read more

Don't order pasta if you like yours al dente (I'm a bit of a pasta snob, though . . .), but they do a very good job with shrimp and chicken. The chicken, in particular, I'm impressed with because it never seems dry. Haven't tried the steak so can't comment. Pleasant atmosphere and reliable fare. We've always enjoyed good service here, too. Glad to have a reliable sit-down place like this in a town where there's not a ton of options. I was pleasantly surprised by the buffalo wings, as well.
