I love this place. Very local with affordable and delicious food. That being said, I'm not a food snob. I can get down with exquisitely prepared boxed potatoes any time. Their fried chicken is delicious, and they are happy to make it all dark meat for me. Sometimes they do a "Clucker Burger," my mom's favorite, with tater tots and fried chicken tenders on the burger. I mean WHO does that? Culinary genius. There's plenty of walker parking, heaping portions of everything good, and a pancake the size of Paul Bunyan's head. If you're local, you'll probably see someone you know. There's something for anyone who likes a traditional diner-style menu, and there's a specials board a mile long. I'm thinking I need some fried chicken, so I'm gonna head on over there. Calling ahead to make sure they're open. read more

Agree 100% about the comment about poor reviews from out-of-towners. This place is exactly what is appears to be. A dive for excellent comfort food. My service was fantastic and my breakfast (traditional) was spot-on. I am an out of towner here and easily recognize the city-type out of towner's poor reviews (e.g. that review mentioning social distancing... Really...? Stay home... that should provide distance enough for you). In summary, you won't be disappointed here. Good food at a very reasonable/inexpensive price. read more

I feel almost like I'm cheating writing a review of Mr. B's since they're both our neighbors and, from about the moment we arrived in Michigan last year, some of our favorite people. Sufficed to say, my family and I have enjoyed many a meal here, and love it as much for the great home-style comfort food as the family atmosphere. You start to recognize the "regulars" (and there are a lot of them) very quickly, and it feels like you're a part of something special when you're there. There are a lot of cherished staples on the menu, but I've noticed new specials appearing lately with the new owners and I'm very excited about what they're trying out. They're making sure to keep their loyal customers happy and still experimenting with new ideas and recipes in a fun way ("Date night" specials on Saturdays for instance). We got really lucky having them be across from us and we plan to go there for a long, long time. read more

I ordered the biscuits and gravy, my husband order a western omelet. The biscuits and gravy were awful!!! Very thick gravy that tasted like flour. The waitress asked if I wanted a box and I told her my opinion of the gravy. She said the owner likes it that way. What??? How sad when he can't even give the cunsumer/customers what they want. My husband said he wouldn't order his omelet again. The waitress was very polite and helpful. The dining room, possibly the entire restaurant, needs some serious updating. One of the best short order meals Iv ever had. Ordered steak and eggs breakfast medium rare, and goddamit got medium rare. Over easies were perfect too as were the browns. Good vittals in the last days of a forgotten neighborhood once home of hard working men and whole families. Come for the gritty nostalgia if you like. But come for the perfectly prepared American menu that will leave you happy you made the trip. read more

It gets 4 stars for being what it is. A hidden away, hole-in-the-wall crumbling dive with standard artery-clogging fare done PERFECTLY. Don't come to Mr. B's to find something you've never had before, or to see the architecture or ambiance. Come to eat all the same greasy comfort food you're used to, done to perfection by regular folks who are happy to see you. Oh, and it's not in the best neighborhood so don't leave your purse on the front seat of the car :). read more

Many out-of-towners on here. I'm local and can't think of one complaint in 21 years of going to the Dairy Bar,. Really! I can't say that for anywhere else. Simple but plenty on the menu. Always good food and always prepared right. I've eaten here more often than anywhere in town and was never disappointed.. Service is great even when they're busy. Love the pancakes! The greasy foods (burgers/ fries / fish) are never funky and I have a sensitive gut. Always safe. Can't say that for many place's in town. Great track record in my book so I gotta give them 5 stars! Oh, prices are very reasonable. It's the furthest local restaurant from me but the 1st place I recommend to people. read more
