First, the bread they served was molded... not just a tiny spot, but several and clearly something that should've been caught before it ever made it to a table. Then, as if that wasn't enough, there was a hair in my food. When we let our server know about the moldy bread, she told us the only thing she could do was comp our sodas. Between the lack of food safety and the lack of customer service, I won't be returning.

The menu was surprisingly broad, though a few items were unavailable at the time. The food was decent--nothing over the top, but solid and familiar dishes with standard portions. Service was friendly and attentive, which added to the overall experience. The interior is open, with a few wall-mounted booths and a clean, casual vibe. There's not a lot to compare it to in the area, but it does the job well and seems like a go-to local favorite.

The coffee, unfortunately, is ass. Bad enough that I genuinely hate docking an otherwise great local business two stars for it. The espresso tastes like someone emptied a bunch of used Keurig pods and cigarettes into pool water and boiled it for seven hours. Burnt, dirty and aggressively bitter, without any of the flavor that makes strong coffee actually good. And that's what makes it so frustrating. This is exactly the kind of independent bakery/cafe where I WANT to buy a great latte instead of going to Biggby or another chain. There's a huge opportunity here to be the legit coffee spot in town, and the rest of the place already deserves it. Please, for the love of God, fix the espresso. Your pastries deserve a better wingman.
