As quiet as I try to keep this, I grew up in this general vicinity. Taking a trip down Memory Lane with my siblings, we stopped in to Curley's. It's not the same Curly's of my childhood that burned in a fire, which is probably a good thing! But this was really nice. The menu had many choices. There's pool tables and electronic dartboards and it just seems like a fun place. We tried the walleye sandwich with fries, a burger and the 11 cheese grilled cheese with tomato soup. It was all very tasty. The beers were good. The service was attentive and helpful. read more

Ive been coming to Curly's for 15 years. Used to come occasionally but now this is my go-to. The new menu is...fantastic. Scratch-kitchen inspired, delicious and very creative. True scratch kitchen. Homemade mushroom soup is a must. If youre looking for CHEAP food, go somewhere else. There are plenty of fast-food options. If you're looking for GOOD food, go to Curly's. Curlys has new owners and it's obvious in the worst of ways. The old owners were residents of Colon and worked hard to make Curlys a place for everyone. They served the community and the evidence of that was everywhere on the walls. The new owners have increased prices dramatically--$15 for a chicken salad sandwich and fries are extra? What's worse, our waitress told us she couldn't get us smaller bills for change which forced us to tip either 50% or nothing. We tipped her and left. If you are vacationing in Colon, you know there are t many places near the lake to eat that have good food. I finally are ate Curly's after years of coming to Long Lake. My brother-in-law and I ordered the prime rib sandwich and fries while sitting at the bar. The fries were fresh and went down fast, they tasted like crisp fresh cut potatoes. The prime rib sandwich was delicious. Only suggestion more horse radish sauce. My brother-in-law was halfway through his meal and mine was already gone! That delicious! They have some interesting fish and items hanging in the wall. Three TVs in the bar area and another Kino display running all the time. The bar tender gave us ample attention even when it got busy. I believe there is a jukebox playing somewhere but couldn't locate it. Also there are pool tables in the back near the rest rooms. read more

Ordered a couple of pizza's for our son's birthday, boy what a surprise when we picked it up. That supreme pizza on the right was $49+ & both together was $80.00. It would have been cheaper to go to Italy pick up a pizza worthy of that price. I tried Curly's bar for the first time today under new management and they didn't disappoint! I ordered the fish and chips and was delivered a hot plate of just that! The fries were "curly" and the fish was hot and served with a lemon with two tartar sauces which were phenomenal. The one thing I recommend is that the coleslaw be replaced with something else like cottage cheese or applesauce or something other than coleslaw, because people are picky eaters like me! Anyways the wait staff was friendly and the time to get food was excellent, mainly because the server said, "it was a slow for a Tuesday." Here are some pictures of my fish. I've been coming to Curly's for years, and it's sad to see how much it's changed under the new ownership. One of the best parts of this place used to be the pool league--it brought in a great crowd and gave the bar real character. Unfortunately, the new owners got rid of it without any explanation, taking away a big reason many of us came in the first place. To make matters worse, the prices have gone way up. What used to be an affordable, friendly local spot now feels overpriced and out of touch with the community. Really disappointed in the direction this bar is heading. read more

Curlys is downtown Colon and is the one of the main restaurants on the strip. They have a stocked bar, several pool tables, and outdoor eating. I went during magic week (first week in August) and there was live performers. During my visit, Just Joe was juggling fire torches, and engaged the audience with his sense of humor that very enjoyable for adults and kids alike. I ate a grinder and I recommend only getting the half size and it's pretty big unless you are sharing. The service was great and considering they got fairly busy, the waitresses never skipped a beat. If you find yourself in Colon, I would definitely recommend eating here read more

Food was just ok, not really memorable, just average. Service seemed to start out OK but then our server got busy with other people and talking to other people and so it wasn't very attentive and when we asked to make sure our food came out hot, she took offense to that and then our food came out just barely warm probably because she was just too busy waiting on other people. The ambience is the usual sports bar. nothing memorable about that either probably would never go there again. read more

Curly's has lost their way under the new ownership. No longer the small town bar you want to hang out in. Prices have increased dramatically. No Mancino's subs anymore. Food was ok, but not worth the elevated prices. Ordered a sausage pizza and was charged for two toppings, Cheese was charged as a topping? Not extra cheese, just the normal cheese you would expect on a pizza. Hoping this was just a blunder on their part. Considering you can get a pizza that is better next door, for less money, that is a better option for pizza seekers for at least the time being. Not going back for a while and hopefully the ownership will learn their customer base and make the necessary adjustments to satisfy the locals. read more

I'd walked by Curly's a few times and it always smelled SO good, I told my boyfriend months ago that I wanted to try it. Yesterday we finally decided we'd go, we looked online and saw they closed in about an hour and a half and decided to place a pickup order instead. We come in 20 minutes later, and I notice a small table with some baked goodies by the front door. I tell my boyfriend to go up to the bar and let them know we have a pickup order so that I can look at the sweets. I get done looking and meet him over at the bar where he says he hasn't been helped yet, no big deal, it looked like the bartender was busy talking to some customers. While waiting we looked around at some of the cool stuff they had around for the next time we came in. We both like pool so we stared down the tables for a good while, noticed a dart board and some other stuff. We go back to just standing at the bar talking, and one of the women the bartender was talking to, who I'm now assuming is a manager or higher-up of some sort, scoffs and says, "Are you guys dining in orrr....", with much more attitude than necessary. We'd been inside for probably 8 minutes and she was annoyed simply with our presence. The food was nowhere near as good as you'd expect it to be with the prices you pay. I got the 'I'm an adult', it was bland and dry, my boyfriend got their club grinder, which he described as "eh", it didn't seem very fresh, the homemade bread was just okay, and the topping to bread ratio wasn't great. For $40 I was expecting a little more. I will say, it's very clean inside and has a cool vibe, but that's about all we found that was good. If you want a good grinder take a trip to Kalamazoo and try Kazoopy's. read more

The Boneless Chicken bites are straight up from the Tyson chicken bag from Walmart. Nachos and grinder and tacos were ok, nothing to come back for. Just had to write a review. This place is dear to me and my family. Many a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion spent here. Most of the time the food is great. It has been declining in quality over the past couple of years though. Probably more disappointed to see the service deteriorate. Tonight we ordered some takeout and when arriving 5 minutes after the quoted time, the employee told me my order was still in the oven. 2 other people got their food and only after a woman working in the bar came back to see why I was still waiting did they find my order that was ready even before I arrived. 10-15 minutes of additional time spent because the employee couldn't read the ticket. Breaks my heart. This place and these people mean so much to my family. I really hate to see the reputation get tarnished. read more

We recently ordered food for takeout over the phone. The order went well and pleasant. When my husband brought our food home I was very disappointed. The onion rings were very good and tasty, but the subs were severely lacking in items. They were very skimpy on meat, mayo, lettuce, & cheese. Their food is a total rip off. I highly recommend going somewhere else. Ive grown up in this town and have eaten the amazing food that has come out of this place. We haven't ordered from them in a while & it was disheartening to see what we got for what we payed. My sub tasted of bread & mayo. I could not taste the meat or veggies. This place is a 3.5 star joint. The food is decent... but it's not going to knock your socks off. They are known for their grinders, so get a grinder. If you get anything else, complain about it, and I find out... you're in trouble! You get a half and it's ENORMOUS. Better if you can grab another person to share to get a full one because it's cheaper that way. They have a full bar with decent enough selections of wine and beer. The staff was friendly, though, admittedly, not the fastest despite there being hardly anyone else in the bar. You park on the street... but you're in Colon, so you can find plenty of parking. Overall enjoyable place to grab some grub in Colon. The one-star reviews baffle me. Really? One star is for the worst thing ever. This place would have to work really hard to be worth only one star. Calm down, folks. It's a BAR with BAR FOOD. Decrease your expectations just a touch and you'll be happier in life overall. read more

Curlys bar has been recently remodeled after a fire. Things have changed! Before the bar was an old, small town tavern with the smell of smoke and old booze that was the only option for night time drinks around the Colon and Palmer Lake area. I have to admit, I liked it as this provided an atmosphere of what bars used to be like. After a long wait, the new Curlys is larger and cleaner than ever. It now looks like something that belongs in the city. From what I can tell the menu has not changed much, which was pleasing to my family because we love the grinders! I have visited Curly's in the past (before the fire). Back then the food was good and the building was typical towny bar & grill. Back then I probably would've given them a 4. Since the reopening my wife and I have stopped by three times, but we've never had any food. The first time I took the whole family, my wife and I and three kids. We were seated, but nobody came to take our order. It got late. Kids got grouchy. We left. The second time I took the whole family again. We sat down, placed our order, and then we waited. We waited more. I asked the bartender. She said the food was on the way. She came back and said the kitchen just started our order. She came back and apologized because it's been a really long time and she doesn't know why it's taking so long. And then she came back to tell us that the kitchen had lost our order and they never actually made it. At this point we had been there for about an hour and a half and we live a few blocks away so we went home. My wife tells me that she went in a third time with our oldest son and that they just got completely ignored. Eventually my son told her to just take him somewhere else. We're basically done. We live in the same little town and we have no inclination to come back here. read more

The food here was very burnt. It's an okay atmosphere, but like I said food isn't all that great. My friend ordered the nachos and I kid you not they were burnt to a crisp, and so crunchy that she was having to try and pull everything apart, like the cheese itself turned into rubber.
