So some friends were in town and wanted to go to this specific Applebee's as we had a lot of fun memories they are years ago so we revisited tonight. The food was not horrible everything else was lol. Our server was probably the worst server I've had in my life of 42 years. He needed to be prompted multiple times for every refill, for silverware, to take the napkins, for us to order food. There's basically absolutely nothing that he did that was a good job or even approaching mediocre. At one point I asked him for a refill on my Pepsi. Several trips by our table and no refill I asked him again. He said oh is it regular or diet, Fair question... I told him it was regular he walked to the drink dispension station walked back and brought me a diet... He screwed up the bill and with my understanding of their POS ordering system it pretty much looked intentional. Our meals each came with a fountain beverage and no beverage with specifically listed and then additional beverages were charged to the bill. When the manager was advised cuz he needed to fix the bill he tried to joke with us that the employee was trying to rip us off. On top of all of this the restaurant was maybe 20% full and people were waiting 15 to 20 minutes adjusted the door to even be approached let alone to get a table... I'm sure there's a laundry list of things that went wrong for them tonight that could be a viable explanation for all of these horrible experiences. Maybe. Last night, I went to Applebee's with six other adults and a toddler. I actually called ahead before we came to let them know we had a group of seven, including a child, and asked if there was a wait. They told me there wasn't, so we headed over. We arrived about 15 minutes later and were seated right away, which was great but unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Our server, Riley, came over after we had already been seated for about 10-15 minutes. She didn't greet us or ask how we were doing she just asked what we wanted to drink with her hands clasped and a very blank, borderline irritated expression. The whole interaction felt cold and dismissive, like we were just a burden to her. She only brought two of the drinks out at first, and we specifically asked for the toddler's drink since she was asking for it. Riley told us it was "coming with the rest." A few minutes later, she brought out three more drinks, including the chocolate milk for the child, and took our appetizer order. But still not everyone had their drinks, and we had already been there for over 25 minutes. Eventually, Riley came back to take our meal orders, again with no notepad, which surprised us considering we were a party of seven. We reminded her that two people still hadn't gotten their drinks, and she just repeated, "It's coming," and walked away. No apology, no sense of urgency. We finally got the last drinks and appetizers, but by this point we had already been sitting there for nearly 45 minutes with just drinks and starters. When our food came out, we had been there for over an hour. One of my friends had a piece of hair actually wrapped around her ribs not just a stray hair on the plate, but physically wrapped into the food. Another friend ordered a medium steak and received it practically rare barely cooked at all. Riley didn't come check on us or ask how anything was. We had to stop her as she walked past to let her know what was going on, and even then, she didn't apologize or say anything helpful she just took the plates and left. At that point, we had no appetite left and asked for boxes and the check when she returned. She brought the plates back about 20 minutes later, but we just packed the food up and left. We didn't even eat at the restaurant. The worst part is that both my friend and my boyfriend got sick afterward and were throwing up the next day after eating their food from there. Thankfully the toddler didn't eat much because I can't imagine how much worse it could've been. We spent around $200, and even with the poor service and all the issues, I still left a tip not because it was deserved, but out of habit and respect for restaurant workers in general. But this experience was beyond disappointing. I've worked in restaurants and I've managed in them, and I know what good service looks like. This wasn't it. The restaurant was nearly empty, so there's no excuse for how unprofessional and careless everything was handled. The food and service was awful. I understand why its so dark in there now. I had to send my salad back it was not fresh. The table was sticky that should have been my first sigh.I was picking out old dark brown pieces of lettuce, when the entrees came out the coleslaw was supper sweet and not fresh and my little 6oz steak was hard as a biscuit. I had one bite of everything and was done. I paid and then told the waitress why we didn't eat. The waitress only came to the table twice to take the order and take check. Absolutely terrible! I ordered the oriental chcikne salad with fried chicken. I was given a salad with a pile of almonds and honey mustard dressing. I told server it was wrong and she took it away. Came back with the oriental salad With grilled chicken which again, was not what I ordered. the breadstick was so hard - like it was microwaved My husband ordered the broccoli fettuccine. They were out of Broccoli and no substitution was offered. My daughter ordered hot pretzels - no issues with those. She also ordered the chcikne finger platter w French fries. the chicken fingers came out without the French Fries . The chicken was so overdone, the chicken was hard. The fries Arrived a good 15 minutes after the chicken fingers. Overall, the edible portion of the meal were the pretzels. We are done with Applebees. The employees are not trained very well and don't even know what is included with meals. Last month I ordered the Strawberry Balsamic Chicken salad with extra dressing and received no extra dressing, no breadstick and a total of one strawberry in the salad. This was honestly the worst dining experience we have had in agrees. We wanted something easy and quick and figured this would be a fine choice. My husband got a pasta dish, and the noodles were still hard - the chicken fingers on top tasted horrific, like they were cooked in 3 month old fryer oil. I got chicken which was fine, but it came with rice that also was hard and inedible. My child's food came out last and was steaming hot - this was the only hot meal of them all. The food wasn't even worthy of taking photos of. It was the most mediocre meal I have ever had. And I will never go back to Applebees ever again. I used to go to Applebees all the time in the 90's. They had great food. What happened??? Our server was fine, albeit a little scatterbrained. We ordered the queso and chips and the queso was thin and watery in consistency. And it came in a big bowl that was filled up maybe a quarter of the way with the saltiest nachos. I asked for more queso because HOW???? Could they serve so little AND THEY CHARGED ME FOR EXTRA!!! I stopped here for a quick lunch. The food and service here is generally pretty good. My favorite is the Fiesta Lime Chicken. Service was a tad slow today but that's to be expected due to staff shortage anyplace you go. It was a very satisfying lunch. I really feel bad for the people who think this is good food and cannot afford to dine at a real restaurant. When my wife and I were younger this was our "go-to" restaurant, the food quality was better and our kids loved it. I rarely enjoy chain restaurants now, but for sentimental reasons we decided to give Applebee's a try on a rainy Wednesday night. We will never return! Steak was like chewing shoe leather, mashed potatoes tasted like instant flakes, riblets reminded me of beef jerky. Everything was either bland or over salted. Order was wrong, missing items, most of the food inedible, overcooked or undercooked. We then waited approximately 2:42 seconds to get our drink orders the woman that took our drink order was professional and quickly took our order with no issues. While waiting for our food the host was squatting behind the table vaping and then took a sip out of a double cup... he was also throwing up gang signs. I've been to Applebees tons of times In my life and I like to try new places or satisfy my Indian cravings when I'm out this way. But they have lunch specials for a good price. I got a half a oriental chicken salad and a bowl of French onion soup for 10$ total. I have only written 2 other 1 star reviews, but its truly deserved. One might ask and I feel this way myself - Why have you been so many times if you have had so many bad experiences? Over the Christmas season we always buy a bunch of Delta Sonic packages because they have excellent deals that include a $20 Applebee's certificate. Often we give the Applebee's certificates away but this year we thought we would keep a few as we live near-by and thought the Carside to-go would make for an easy dinner option. We did the Carside to-go about 4 times between Feb and March this year and only one time was our meal ready at the time quoted. 10-20 minutes we waited over the time given. Only one order was correct and how we ordered it. They have forgotten salad dressings completely, left off major portions of salads ie: Thai sauce on a Thai chicken salad missing, Put mayo on sandwich when asked for it off, french fries given instead of onion rings that we paid an up-charge for and one salad that was literally half the size it should've been. Online ordering isn't user friendly as it has minimal options to customize, you would have to type in comments or call to order if you want options not listed. Although customization and even their general way of making items will likely be wrong when you get your order. Online ordering also doesn't always have newer items listed to order online. They added a Nashville chicken sandwich to the menu which I was really excited about but the chicken was really dry, overcooked and had minimal hot sauce on it. The only positives I could think of were when I actually got the onion rings I ordered they were super crispy/excellent. My husband also liked the flavors in the Southwest steak salad. After a 40 minute wait we were called to be seated. One has to wait outside and be texted when the table is ready. We went for the 2 for $20.00. The choices are a shared appetizer or 2 side salads. We both choose the Caesar side salad for a starter which was very nice with crispy Romaine, a handful of seasoned croutons and some shredded Parmigiana cheese with some Caesar dressing. For our main course, we both choose cheeseburgers which come with French fries. It was not too much of a wait for our cheeseburgers. Both of our burgers were very thin patties compared to Applebees burgers we have enjoyed in the past. Perhaps the regular burgers, which cost slightly more as there is no side salad, are made larger/thicker? My burger was cooked well(choice was "pink or no pink"), but it was so thin and well cooked that it was in pieces in the bun, making it a bit difficult to eat. It was almost like eating a Sloppy Joe. The cheeseburger has red onion slices, tomato, lettuce and pickles inside the roll. The taste was good, but very, very difficult to hold together.
