I visit every time I'm in Rochester. I believe they are the best wings in the city. In the DMV wings are not really what one would call good. Buffalo wing factory was good some years ago but I don't stop in anymore. Jimmy's in Herndon are ok, passable. We went for lunch to Jeremiah's, Jefferson road location. Bar seats were available so we sat there. I ordered a tall Yuengling and she ordered an iced tea. The location has a stack of history for me. In the cooler months outside there are heating units and a bar so if you want to sit outside they accommodate you. On to the wings, I order 10 medium heat done crispy. Not may people at lunch time and my wings are up in a flash. Yuengling was gone...so I order another one. Wings are crispy and tasty. Worth the ride and the wait. The salad had no salt, and only 2 tiny pieces of a soft carrot in it. Burgers were cooked ok but no flavor and hot sauce was lousy.Ketchup on our table was almost an empty bottle, checked 2 other tables for ketchup and the were the same. If this is a form of portion control, did not appreciate the empty bottle splatted on my shirt. other person ordered a brisket sandwich with curly fries. Sandwich was bad, brisket was overcooked and pulled not sliced. Fries are what you would expect to find in the very bottom of a frozen bag of fries, just small pieces of fries and they were over fried and hard. Usually a go-to but today was terrible. 1st beer requested was completely flat. Then a different beer ordered to replace that one was stale. My clam "chowdah" was thinner than chicken soup, definitely not a chowder, and the clams were like pencil erasers. My "extra crispy" wings weren't crispy at all and the meat was like rubber. We had to ask for napkins, flatware, 1 alcohol menu had to be shared around the table, empty ketchup bottles (not just our table but all 3 surrounding the table we were siting at, I ordered a tall beer and a short was delivered, it took a long time to get our orders placed and took a long time to get the food. Four of us visited on a Friday-boy were they busy. Only took about five minutes to be seated. Waitress took our drink orders quickly, and came back in no time with our drinks. Restaurant was very loud, but it is a bar, after all. Multitude of choices on the menu, everyone was able to find something they liked. Our kids got burgers which were both nice and big and they really liked and. I wanted to try two different flavors or wings, so I had to order 5 and 5, for $20?!? But I was confident they'd be good based on what our in laws said. We sat outside on a Thursday for dinner. Wasn't really busy, happy hour had been over for a bit. But unfortunately we had to wait just over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Tried asking the server/bartender that was taking care of us but he was either behind the bar or over on the other side of the restaurant/patio, nowhere near our table. Food finally arrived, 5 of my wings were barely room temperature(Korean bbq), which just tasted like soy sauce and sesame oil. My wife's cheesesteak was super dry, just meat and a little bit of cheese. Overall the wings were just average, definitely not worth $20 and a 30min wait. Don't plan on going back. This place is so wildly inconsistent. One time you'll get get perfectly cooked beautiful wings, and the next you'll get shrunken overcooked well-done wings. Our hockey team ate here for a team meal (Saturday lunch) and had a good experience. They allowed us to make a reservation for 20 people, and they assigned two wait staff to our group. Most people really enjoyed their food, and the service was excellent. Large beer selection, wide variety of menu items, and plenty of seating made for a great experience. We had one waitress who was amazing, and she made up for the other who was pretty grumpy. I had the steak tips and my wife had the meatballs. The steak tips were awesome, but the meatballs were just so-so. A lot of the other meals like salads, nachos and burgers looked good as well We would eat here again, but it's probably geared more towards large groups or informal situations. But then... - two of us asked for a glass of ice on three separate occasions; it finally arrived AFTER we were done - no silverware - we ended up eating with our fingers (not graceful for mandarin oranges) - waiter never checked on us- we would've ordered additional drinks with/after dinner maybe even dessert. We have been going to Jeremiah's original restaurant since the early 90's. This was our first Jeremiah's other than the original. I am glad to say this location has the best wings around!! I have eaten wings all over the country and never found better wings than Jeremiah's Catatonic wings. We visit Rochester about once a year and the ONLY place we visit every time is Jeremiah's for wings. We had Sam as our waitress this evening and she was great. Ask for Sam and tip her well. When a friend suggested we meet at Jeremiah's Tavern when we visited Rochester, I looked them up on Yelp and was not impressed with the ratings. Then I thought, we're here to see friends and if that's where they want to eat, so be it. We arrived on a busy Friday night and was told it was a 30-45 minute wait for a table. 18 minutes later, our pager went off and we were seated at a booth away from the noise and traffic area. This allowed us a great opportunity to catch up with friends we see only once or twice a year. My hesitation turned out to be unfounded. Food was very good as was the service. In our group we ordered a Cobb salad, bee sting chicken salad and two apple pecan chicken salad wraps. All were excellent. Came here for a work lunch because of the location. We made reservations but really didn't need to since there was hardly anyone here. Hostess wouldn't seat us until the entire party was present, I normally agree with this but again the place was almost empty.I did like the interior of the place, all the hardwood floors and benches. We had one server for our group of nine but it seemed like she could of used an extra person to help out. It took a bit for us to all get our drinks and place our orders. We shared some appetizers, the onion rings (crispy with a good taste) Also the pretzel with dipping sauce, the honey mustard sauce was disappointing. For lunch I ordered the Reuben (corned beef) you can get it with turkey...no thanks. I love Reuben's, but this one was nothing great. A bit soggy and just blah. Was told that this is one of the best spots in Rochester to get buffalo wings, and that recoomendation was not wrong. The wings were great. Perfectly coated in sauce that had a very nice spice that wasn't overwhelming. And the tater tot poutine was excellent. Sauce Selection: Buffalo (Mild, Medium, Hot) Catatonic (Jalapeno based hot) Wise Guy (A Spicier version of Catatonic) Holy Habanero (With habanero chunks in it!) Pow Pow (Creamy peppery garlic sauce with a little kick to it) Nawlin's Blues (Buffalo cajun garlic parm with blue cheese crumbles) Teriyaki Pineapple (A sweet and sour wing) Tavern BBQ (Thick and tangy) Garlic Parm (Buttery goodness) Cajun (A dry rub) Bee-Sting (Sweet and Spicy) Jamaican Jerk (You already know what it is) Korean BBQ (Sweet, peppery and spicy) I'm honestly impressed by the variety of sauces they have. Each sounds delicious and their chef's must really be in the lab whipping these up! Below the sauce selection on their website you can find the wing prices. They're in the following order 5 Wings - 7.99 10 Wings - 14.50 20 Wings - 28.75 30 Wings - 42.75 50 Wings - 59.49 My thoughts on reading these prices. THESE ARE SOME EXPENSIVE ASS WINGS. I'm shocked they cost this much but so many people say they're the best in town so I'm sure it's justified. IMPORTANT NOTE: Jeremiah's doesn't allow you to split sauces unless you order 50 wings. If you want a variety of sauces, you have to order by quantity for each flavor you want. Ordering over the phone, I was greeted by a nice young lady who took my order. She was very attentive, quick and to the point. I like that. I settled on the following sauces: Bee-Sting Catatonic Nawlin's Blues Pow-Pow I ordered 5 of each flavor and my total was $36 dollars and some change. That's STEEP for some wings, so they better be FIRE. When picking up my wings, it was a very in and out process that didn't have any unnecessary talking or conversation. Driving back home, I immediately noticed that these wings smell AMAZING. The big body caddy was filled with an aroma of spices and flavors that had my mouth watering. Could these be the best wings I've had yet? Let's get to it. Opening my big brown bag of deliciousness, I noticed that each flavor was packaged individually in a cardboard box with foil and paper. I really do appreciate the great packaging and presentation. Everyone in Rochester should learn from this because Jeremiah's packs their food better than anyone else (It's also recyclable!). Nawlin's Blues: These wings have a bit of a kick to it! The sauce is full of flavor and the blue cheese crumbles really do make a huge difference in how they taste. The parmesan flavor didn't stand out to me, but the rest of the flavors made their presence known. If you love buffalo wings and blue cheese, these are a MUST TRY. My first wing wasn't the most crispy but BOYYYYY was it JUICY. These wings had me drooling. Bee-Sting: This sauce is INCREDIBLE. Sweet, tangy, spicy and oh so delicious. I can't say enough good things about this sauce! The heat is JUST right, and I feel like I could taste a hint of honey in it. If you love country sweet sauce, you'll like this one even more! They're mouth watering delicious and a must have if you're in Rochester! This was definitely my favorite sauce out of the bunch. Pow Pow: This sauce SLATHERED these wings. The flavor was reminiscent of garlic parm but with a bit of a kick as you eat them. Initially I was unimpressed by this flavor. It felt bland on the first bite and I didn't enjoy them as much as the other flavors. Regardless, I ended up dogging these wings because they cost so much. I'll be damned if I let food go to waste! Catatonic: Bruce Lee must've made these wings because they got some KICK to it. It looked like these wings were slathered in a buffalo sauce and covered in chunks of jalapenos! As a spice lover, these weren't as hot as I wanted them to be, but they were still alright. Not my favorite flavor, but still pretty good. Final Thoughts: These wings are pretty good and I was pleasantly surprised at how much flavor they packed. Packaging was second to none and I really appreciate the detail and time they put into presenting these wings. Most wings had a little bit of crisp to them but it wasn't consistent for each wing. Personally, I think they should bring the price down a tad. I understand the effort and money that goes into the packaging and presentation of these wings but I just don't think that 20 wings for 36 dollars is worth it in my book. Are they the best in town? So disappointed. My parents went early evening to celebrate my moms birthday. The restaurant was nearly empty. My mothers food came (French dip) and the bread was burnt and meat friend out. My parents (83 and 89) told the waiter on three occasions that the meal was not satisfactory. The waiter did not offer a new meal or apologize.
