We sopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Nicely decorated, clean and large restaurant. Plenty of seating. The server was really nice and helpful. We got the nachos, plenty to go around. We ordered them with chicken but there was hardly any chicken on them. I got the smokehouse burger. The fries were average, a bit over salted. The burger was dry and the flavors really didn't mesh that well. I asked for it to be cooked medium but it was medium-well, more on the well end. Normally I would've sent it back but I didn't have time to wait for a new one. My friend had coleslaw with his sandwich. There was hardly any dressing on it so it was basically raw plain cabbage. I've always been a fan of BJ's. My go to order is the Mediterranean pita tacos, which never let me down. Big fan of the daily deals, especially the $5 pizookie. Well! That was less than stellar! 6:30 reservation for 5 adults and one child...finally got food at 8 pm. Waited 30 minutes for non alcoholic drinks. 45 for the sparkling sangria. Food: the appetizer pretzel arrived after 40 minutes. I ordered a medium well burger with bacon. It was freaking hammered ( as I like eating sand ) and stone cold as were the fries... just awful. Two bites and I was done. The chicken sandwich and fries were awful. Steak was overdone and cold. The prime rib had been sitting and had an off color. The other steak was ok because it had a sweet sauce over it. The poor 5 year old didn't get his food until the waitress was reminded he had nine. His pasta with sauce was dried out and lacking sauce. The Pizookie thst came with the prime rib meal wasn't even offered. If we waited for they had it been offered it would have been midnight. Very very disappointing. I don't know what their problem was but it was AWFUL!!!! Did tell the hostess on the way out who suggested we speak to the manager in the back. Well, we were in the area and thought we'd give it a try. Our #1 son and favorite daughter had already been to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and raved about the wings, so we figured, why not? It was happy hour, so we ordered drinks while looking over the menu. #1 son went with a burger, I opted for a chicken sandwich, and the Duchess chose the fish tacos. The food arrived fairly quickly--but it was just meh. Nothing special, and of the three of us, my son was the only one who really enjoyed his meal. My chicken sandwich was overwhelmingly rich, loaded with mayonnaise and a sriracha slaw (plus even more slaw on the side). My wife's fish tacos, unfortunately, were cold. All in all, it was about what you'd expect from a chain restaurant. Quel surprise! I can't help but wonder how long it will take for the "Henrietta effect" to kick in--that initial surge of popularity new restaurants enjoy along chain-restaurant row. BJ's seems to fit right in and, for now, appears to be drawing diners away from 110 Grill, Red Robin, and LongHorn Steakhouse. First time at bjs with my girlfriend, it was an amazing experience! The atmosphere is very welcoming. The menu had amazing options, I went with the jambalaya. Our waiter was kind enough to point us to the back of the menu, where you could get a deal on your meal for only 13 bucks and a free dessert! If he hadn't pointed that out we would've payed a lot more. He was very patient and respectful, and made us feel appreciated. The food was delicious - I would definitely recommend the strawberry shortcake pizookie which disappeared a bit faster than we would like to admit. I've been around long enough to estimate if a restaurant will last or not. Unfortunately, I don't think this one has it together enough to stand the test of time. We ordered the viral Pizookie (chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream) for takeout. We selected curbside and nobody ever brought our order out, so we went in to get it and it was ready and sitting there as several workers walked pasted it. When we got home and tried the cookie the entire cookie was burned, charred in the worst way imaginable. It had an odd burn smell too. It was not digestible and huge disappointment. Don't bother making a reservation here because they don't honor them. We made an 8:00 reservation for a Saturday night and arrived 15 minutes early. We didn't expect to be seated at that time, but certainly expected to be seated at our reservation time. There was a line of people waiting for a table, so we went to the bar, which had only one bartender on a busy Saturday night, therefore it took 15 minutes to get a drink. When I went to the hostess' station to check on how much longer it would be to be seated, as it was now past our reservation time, we were told to wait because she was busy seating other people. The people who had been waiting when we arrived were all seated, which tells me that they didn't honor our reservation at all, they simply added our name to the wait list when we arrived. Why would there be a line of people waiting to be seated, if they all had reservations? You would think they would have a table waiting for the people who made reservations, and make the walk-ins wait, but that doesn't seem to be how they operate here. Also, if you know you have busy Saturday nights, make sure you have enough staff to accommodate your customers. Poor management all the way around here. We ended up leaving 15 minutes after our reservation time when we were still waiting as other people were being seated. Also, the two drinks we ordered...one specialty drink and one pint of beer, came out to $25 after tax and tip. If you're going to charge those prices, then your service standards should match. read more

Every time we have gone to BJ's they bring out fruit and gold fish for our child shortly after we order for him which we do immediately (before we put in our own orders). They have never given us a hard time about ordering separately and have brought out more of the fruit that he preferred when we asked if they could. I will admit they are understaffed so they take a longer to get refills and such. But they have never let us down with our kiddo and their food is good. Went tonight for dinner around 6:15 pm on a Sunday. Waited 40 minutes for table. The hostess offered people waiting to be seated a slice of pizza. I thought that was a nice touch. Our server was wonderful. Whenever we asked for something that was missing or that we needed, he practically ran for it. It took awhile to get our salads. We ordered 2 Caesar and 1 wedge. They were delicious. For the main entrees we had ordered the weekend 3-course Prime Rib, a sirloin and a sirloin with shrimp scampi combo. The prime rib looked like they took a beautiful piece of sliced prime rib and recooked it so it was tough and browned on both sides. The sirloin was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were cold, but we enjoyed them anyway. My daughter loved her strawberry shortcake pizookie that came with her 3-course meal. So. I got there and can't say the host staff wowed me in any way. The hostess asked me if a booth for 6 was okay. I told her no that I had specifically requested a table. She consulted with another hostess and told me "that should be okay" Well, thanks considering I made a reservation for a table. We were supposed to be six but ended half of our party not showing up which is fine because they sat us at a table for four with two chairs on the ends. This table would have been very cramped with dishes and drinks for six on it. Also when the hosts texted me for my table I was standing there while three or four employees were chatting. With their backs to us and one looked right at me and they kept on talking. Hello. You called me, I did not hesitate to approach and make you wait for me and now I'm here. I did my part, you do yours. The service was okay but very slow. Yes we said we had six people that were supposed to show. We had three we let our server know that we were probably the only ones. We had put our menus closed in a pile a sure sign we were ready. We waited a very long time to have our order taken. We had food attempted to be delivered to our table that wasn't ours. And later drinks. Like what is going on?? Our food was acceptable. My friends both said this is not a place they'd think to come here again too but wanted to try it. My friend was underwhelmed with his Parmesan crusted chicken. My other friend had egg rolls that she said tasted like they had probably been frozen and a vegetable deep dish pizza which she said was okay. I had the cherry chipotle salmon and I substituted the broccoli for mashed potatoes which were hidden underneath and couscous (which was spicy and lemony-I liked it!) kind of surrounding it and my fish plopped on top. It was actually very good salmon and was the right choice. But I wish my potatoes had been a little operated. The plate presentation is nice. I will give them that. The photos in the menu are beautiful. There never really looked like there was a wait on a Sunday night. The newness has worn off. I feel though that there's a lot of competition on Jefferson and if they want to survive they need to step up their game because again it's just okay and really get their front of the house staff up to par. Came with a party of 6 -- 4 adults and 2 kids -- for a 5:45pm reservation. We ordered drinks and appetizers quickly, and placed our dinner order around 6:15pm when the first round of apps arrived. The appetizers were all pretty tasty, and things started off promising. One positive: the server initially told us they were out of calamari, but she double-checked with the kitchen and came back to say they actually had some. We appreciated the extra effort there and the calamari turned out great! Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We waited over 45 minutes for our entrees to arrive, with barely a check-in from our server during that entire time. When the food finally showed up, one of the entrees (chicken tacos) was missing. The server told us the kitchen was still working on it, which felt odd, since chicken tacos shouldn't take that long to prep. Another 20 minutes passed before the missing dish arrived, without the side it was supposed to come with, and by then, the rest of us were nearly finished eating. It made for a very awkward and frustrating dining experience. We asked to have the late meal removed from the bill due to how delayed it was. The server said she'd speak to the manager, but when the bill came, not only was it not removed, we were charged for it twice. We had to ask again to get it fixed. Lots of tables throughout the restaurant. I sat at the bar near the huge bar list on the wall. Very impressive list. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. A little concerned about initial ratings but decided to give them a couple weeks to get more settled in before we stopped by. We joined online waitlist which was easy through their app or online website. We arrived for an early dinner at 5:30p and the location was starting to fill up quite fast. Definitely recommend adding your party to the waitlist. We were seated within minutes of arrival. Location is smaller than I thought initially, there are some tables around the bar area and seating at the bar. Outdoor seating was nice to see for the few months we will be able to use it here. Several large screen TVs at the bar and lots of sunlight and open space. Upon arrival we realized there were deals every day. On Wednesday their loaded burgers and unlimited fries were only $11. Burgers were seasoned well and juicy. Fries crispy, possibly with a thin batter on them like Burger Kind-ish. There was an issue with my husband's order, which they quickly fixed with wonderful customer service. BJ's is a brewhouse, we didn't have any alcoholic beverages. They have a great list to choose from including local varieties of beers, ciders, seltzers and cocktails. They also make their own sodas - my husband got the root beer, in a frosty mug. The root beer has a great molasses/vanilla flavor, highly recommend. I wanted to try their house made black cherry soda, but they were out. I appreciate they have free refills on their house made sodas as well. They also have diet dr. pepper, which is rare. If you join their app, they will give you a free dessert ($9 deal). They have many varieties of Pizookie's, essentially a warm fresh baked cookie in a pan with ice cream. We got the seasonal variety, PB Smores. It was so rich and fudgey. You can get vanilla or chocolate ice cream - we got a scoop of each. The chocolate was so rich! They use Ghirardelli chocolate in the cookie and ice cream, and it shows. They also offer ice cream floats with their house made sodas, sounded good. Customer service and wait staff were great. Longer wait times than generally expected, but it was quite busy at dinner time. I am rating 4 out of 5 in the setting of appropriate expectations of a chain brewhouse and the overall value with specials and deals on app. Great option for casual dining, excellent dessert. i have been to BJs over a dozen times when I lived in CA and loved going - usually for work events. This is why i was stoked to find out BJs was coming to Rochester because it brings back so many good memories. Today marks the 4th day they have been opened and it is the first NFL game of the season. so needless to say they were very busy - but anyone who has been to BJs knows they are always this busy. The servers were defintely not ready to handle the rush of customers and were under prepared in many ways. however they had wait staff on from other locations in to help with the new servers which was definetly needed and very smart. they picked up where others slacked and made sure the food was still delivered in a timely manner and apologized for the new servers. we ordered the hot and spicy bone in wings - they were some of the best wings i have ever had ! just keep in mind they are smoked. we ordered the hickory bbq brisket nachos - these were average and wouldnt reccomend them - they lacked the meat and cheese that make nachos ! now lets talk about what makes BJs so amazing - PIZOOKIE!!! which is a warm under cooked cookie of your choice with vanillia or chocolate ice cream on top. we got the white chocolate macadamia nut pizookie. I never eat sweets and i could not stop eating this it was so delicious! Best dessert of maybe all time! in additon to the amazing food the atmoshpere is great ! huge and open and perfect to watch sports and have a beer. the reason they are only getting a 3 star is unfair because they are still new and training. i will have to come back and reevaluate in a month or two. read more

Server Sabrina disappeared for 25 minutes after taking our order. Had to find a manager to get our drinks. Manager did not apologize. No attempt to apologize and service did not improve after manager was notified. Sabrina pretended like she was surprised we didn't get our drink orders. Just apologize and tell us you're overwhelmed or slammed. Being disingenuous is not attractive. Other waiters were delivering drinks. Burger was ordered medium rare; it was well done and burned on the outside. No attempt to refill drinks without us hunting waitress down. Just really bad experience overall.
