I don't even know where to begin. This was easily the worst dining experience I've had in a long, long long time. First off, the place is filthy. And when we got there, they handed us packages of plastic utensils, announcing that they had run out of silverware. Just getting a table was a project because they didn't want to open up a section, claiming that they didn't want to dirty the tables. Of course, the service was painfully slow. Long periods of time where we never saw our server. But worst of all was the food. Simply terrible. I ordered a burger thinking that they would not be able to screw that up. But boy was I wrong. My burger was cooked beyond recognition. Basically a chewy hockey puck. It's a miracle this place stays in business. read more

Came in at 6pm with my wife. The place was maybe a third full. We ordered diet Pepsis which took our waitress ten minutes to bring to us. Because we've had bad experiences in this area where restaurants serve appetizers followed closely by our entrees, we decided to stagger our order. So we ordered nachos as an appetizer when she brought our sodas. At 6:15 she came by to take our entree order (burgers). At 6:40 our waitress came by to say our food should be out soon. I asked her to clarify if she meant our entire order and she said yes. I told her we did not want to be served our appetizer alongside our entree and she said "I got you." We've been in this place for forty minutes now and thirty minutes since we ordered our appetizer. At 6:50 I went over to the bar and told the bartender I wanted to speak to the manager, which she said no problem she would get one. At this point we had decided we just wanted to pay for our sodas and leave. At 6:55 our waitress came by with the nachos. I told her I had requested to speak with the manager (to which she replied "I got you"). Looking at the nachos, the cheese sauce had formed a skin so it was clear these had been sitting out for a while. I decided this terrible restaurant and its imbecilic staff had wasted enough of my time. So my wife and I just up and left. The table next to us (who had requested their check 20 minutes earlier from the same server) watched us in envy as they continued to wait on the most basic of tasks that this waitress couldn't fulfill. Again the place was a third full so no one here was busy or backed up. Terrible service and we will never be back. To anyone reading Kickback Jack's is just up the road, which basically has the same menu and prices but they also have great servers too. I had a pregnant waitress the last time I was there...she went out of her way to check on us and made sure we were happy. So we left her a 25% tip. The one at Applebees got squat but frankly I still feel ripped off even without paying a dime. Avoid. I posted mostly the same review on Google. Someone from corporate posted a response asking me to leave my contact info. so that someone from this location's management would follow up with me. As I am a glutton for punishment I did so. A Michael S., who identified himself as the Kitchen Manager emailed me asking when would be a good time for him to call me. I replied but never got a call or email about it. So for anyone reading, if bad service can ruin your dining experience the way it can mine, do not bother with this location. read more

I'm going to start off. I've been going to Applebee's for years. One thing that has been consistent is it's never consistent. This includes service, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff. Traditionally an Applebee's it always appears that it has a dirty feeling about it. This includes the bathrooms, the seating area as well as the outside patio. The staff is genuinely not pleasant and spend more time talking to each other or people that they may know or come in all the time. The food is an average portion, sometimes I feel it's not hot enough or kept warm enough before they serve it. For the cost, it would be average for what you're getting. Typically Applebee's draws usually a little bit more of a rougher crowd as well. They definitely are a hangout place. Ranking: out of 10 Ambiance- 2 Service- 2 Cleanliness- 1 Friendliness- 2 Cost- 3 I would say Applebee should follow their own slogan "eating good in the neighborhood". Visited this Applebees for a late meal and i was very disappointed. I was sat at a table and it seemed like i was just forgotten about. They had one waitress serving multiple tables when there was help all around. When she asked for assistance from another employee she was told that she couldn't help. Even for the atmosphere being enjoyable i was not pleased with the service or lack there of i received. Although I messed up I thought I was getting one of my items on the happy hour special but didn't realize that until I got my check. I wish our waitress had've brought that to my attention by saying hey do you realize that those are not on the special cause I was debating between the happy hour specials and the appetizer combo. Which would've came out a lot cheaper than what I had originally ordered. But regardless, I had a great time the waitress was great the food was good. So it was a great Friday evening. Let me start by telling you this isn't a rating on the food. I have eaten here in the past but it's been so long I certainly can't remember. I think it's about the same as other Applebee's, no worse no better. What I am posting about is the experience in the bar. I've come here for years while I'm in Richmond. It always seems to be on a Tuesday night when Jen is bartending. Every single time she is phenomenal. Great personality, remembers what I drink and on her game. In fact this past visit I was actually amazed she remembered me, it had been nearly a year since I was in town. She not only remembered me, but remembered my job, and the different beers I've drank over the years. The crowd is fun too. They all know each other but unlike some regulars, they like to talk to everyone and have a good time. If you're not into that, don't worry they'll leave you alone. But if you are looking to meet some new people for a few hours and have a few laughs...they are the ones to do it with. The chicken was the only thing i really didn't like (that's only bc i'm a texture type of person) but the noodles, sauce and broccoli is what made this dish really good. We went to the Applebee's in Colonial Heights. They only had two sections of the restaurant open. We just wanted a drink, so we asked the host if we could sit at the bar and he said yes, the bar is open. We sat there for 20 minutes and not one person came and asked us what we would like. There are servers walking around but not one person came and ask us what we would like. I would say it was the worse service, but we didn't get any service. I will not go back. Hubby and I had running around to do and dropped into Applebees for lunch on Friday. I cannot for the life of me remember if it was early or late but the place was not crowded and we loved that. We were greeted very courteously with a smile and asked if we wanted a table or booth. That is also something we like, as we prefer booths, not sure why but we do. Our server, I'll preface this by saying I am seriously wretched with names, however this one, I will never forget. Our server's name was Fantasia, and she is a lovely girl with extremely gracious manners, who would befit an upscale restaurant. That is saying a lot, her skill level surpasses this establishment. That being said, the food was good! My eyes are DEFINITELY bigger than my stomach that is for sure, but everything was wonderful. I cannot remember the name of what I ordered, some kind of meat stew thing on top of potatoes, and my husband had ribletts, we shared Mozzarella sticks, all cooked perfectly. So I decided to call Applebys, no answer. The hostess was sitting behind a partition with holes in it, where she could see me,on the other side of hostess desk and never acknowledged me. Visited Applebees for the first time in a while tonight. My boyfriend had an issue with the taste of his chicken tender entrée and didn't eat much, which after tasting, I completely agreed with. I had already asked our waitress, Barbie, for the check, and I was nervous to send food back. Been visiting Richmond for work for the last three weekends. I have to say I am impressed with the bartender staff at this Applebee's location. On the second weekend I was here, they knew my name and the two drinks I always drink, draft miller light and a double Jameson neat. Tried this location again for a 3rd time and it was worse than the other 2 time I was here. We were seated by the host who was cool. We sat there over 15 min and no one came to get our drink order or even acknowledged we were there, in fact they didn't even noticed when we left. Finally, the point-of-sale device on our table was for another table, so I had to trust the server with my credit card. There was nothing special about the dishes and no particular dish that I would want to eat over and over again. After a 6.5 hour drive my family was starving. We chose Applebee's because it's a stones throw away from our hotel. Placed the order (dietary)with special instructions and waited close to an hour to be ready. Upon arrival they couldn't find my order and suggested it might be at their other restaurant 4.6 miles away, I assured them it was their restaurant and she checked again and found my order. Something told me to check the order before I left and I am glad I did NONE of the instructions had been followed. The young lady claims there were no special instructions and offered to redo the order, after waiting over an hour for our food I wasn't waiting any longer. I asked for a partial refund and she declined and stated it wasn't their fault, I ordered through a app and I needed to take it up with them. I left the bag of food and called the service and received a full refund. They've not only lost a customer at this location we won't patronize their restaurant in our hometown. I'm only giving a star for this place because of our server Courtney and of course, because you can't really give them a 0 star. This place is straight garbage. My husband ordered the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp. The chicken is covered with Cajun seasoning, and I love spicy food, but the chicken has waaay too much Cajun seasoning that it's unbearable to eat. It was so disgusting. I asked the manager kindly if they could make my husband another one with way less seasoning only to be given the exact same amount of Cajun seasoning on his chicken.
