I'm so sorry to say but after spending 2 days at the VA hospital while my son had surgery and eating hospital food (which I have to say wasn't bad after my experience in Applebees) we were excited for a family restaurant yummy meal but that wasn't the case at all unfortunately :( the service was very good so no complaints in that dept but the steaks were very poor quality, Extremely dry and flavorless and the loaded mash potatoes we had to ask for butter, sour cream and add lots of pepper and remove the hard and dry bacon on it that felt like eating small rocks. First of all, we had party of 6, didn't get sit down right away even place was nearly empty. When we finally got the table, the chairs and tables were socking wet, we had to find paper towels on our own to dry them. 2nd, our shrimp fajitas were over cooked, the shrimps were so chewy like biting on rubber. One of the worse experiences with this restaurant chain. Came in for a late dinner and the restaurant is practically empty, yet there's a wait. Team members standing around talking loudly about other employees. One server working and waiting on the tables as everyone else stands around. Food came out cold and unpleasant. Very poor customer service. Jayden was our server and only came by to get us our water and appetizers. Afterwards he would completely walk past us and ignore us. There was multiple customers he was serving while actively ignoring us while we were trying to flag him down. We got sat down at 9:40 with no wait, and he was super friendly at first but after we got that first part done the rest of the visit was horrendous. After multiple attempts at trying to flag him down and finally succeeding we asked him for the check and he didn't ask any questions or ask us if we wanted to order our entrees, mind you we still had our menus and were the only table that had our menus. We ordered the appetizer sampler and it tasted fine, there's no complaints about it. Just about the customer service, I would also like to include that he was just wandering around at times and we were wondering if he was just busy but it looked like he was just doing nothing. Food was good and dinner specials were honored, but the bar service was very slow and there were 2 bartenders and 1 customer sitting at the bar. So why did it take 30 min to get my beer?. I don't know you well enough to tell you the story of how I ended up at this Applebees, so let's just skip over that part. THE STEAK: My god, the food here sucks. I ordered a sirloin steak that was advertised on the menu as either 8 or 9 ounces (I don't remember exactly which). Part of the problem with picture menus is that the pictures show a BIG beautiful steak shot by a professional food stylist in a studio set up. What I got on my plate instead was the saddest, misshapen piece of low grade beef I think I've ever seen. If you look at the picture I posted, you'll see that the size of this thing barely qualifies as a chicken tender. And it was basically slapped on a plate and previously frozen French fries thrown on the plate. After dinner, I asked my mom if I could pop one of her muscle relaxers because my jaw was so sore from gnawing on this piece of meat that had the texture of rehydrated beef jerky. THE TABLE: As I was praying to God to make me a bird so I could fly away... far, far away... I looked up, and on the wall of our booth was a big collage of pictures of the local police department. Okay, I get that this big corporate giant is trying to fool people into thinking that they're a local community restaurant by posting pictures of local firemen, little league teams, etc. But honestly, this is the most awkward, inhospitable, and unappetizing thing you could put on the wall, just short of pictures of local morticians. You can see from the pictures I posted that I was looking up at pictures of SWAT teams, a militarized police force, and even a picture of some cop in full tactical gear on the side of someone's house with an HK MP5 submachine gun raised and ready to kill someone. The GF and I were pleasantly delighted to find that Applebee's has a great $5.99 lunch menu (mon-fri). She starved me that morning because she wanted to beat the holiday traffic on our journey from San Diego; so I was good n hungry when we arrived. When our hostess handed us the menu, she was quick to point out the $5.99 combo special. They all looked yummy in the pictures. You can mix and match them too. "Create your favorite combo. Choose a soup and salad, soup and sandwich, salad and pasta-whatever pair you love.", Applebees menu. I ordered the Three-Cheese Chicken Penne + Caesar Salad. The salad was typical but the penne was delicious. I could have easily gone for another plate just for the taste. I was surprized though how I was satisfied from my combo. I was thinking, "Ain't no $5.99 lunch special gonna satisfy me unless it comes with a free prime rib steak". But yes, I was full and happy that I didn't bust my diet. The GF had the Tomato Basil Soup + Grilled Shrimp 'N Spinach Salad. I tried so hard to resist gobbling her salad; it was so damn good. Next time I'm gettinnat fosho.. fosho! Oops, just had a Superbad moment. Only beef I have is with my waitress. She was one of those, "Hurry up people. Eat your food and get the hell outta here so I can stand around in the back of the room and BS with my co-workers". It was lunchtime on a Wednesday so you know the restaurant was less than half full. After waiting for 30 minutes after we were told 10-15, we noticed that they took 2-3 party's to be seated before us even though they came after us and when we asked, we saw that he crossed our name off and we were not even seated! This place is ridiculous. The restaurant was empty, and yet it took over an hour for us to get our food. Almost our entire visit the waitress was no where to be found. We asked for a refill on our drinks and she took 15 minutes to come back and help us. When we finally got our food it came out luke warm and not great. Apple Bee's is your typical chain diner, nothing extravagant but always consistent. This location in particular isn't ever too busy but is ALWAYS too cold. The temp in here is below freezing regardless of how hot/cold it is outside. Not too sure what's up with that but don't show up here without a sweater. As far as the menu goes the mashed potatoes and salmon are always good. That's a regular for me, as well as the cavatappi pasta--yum! The sampler is always good, that seems to be a go to for my boys. Apple Bee's typically has a $5 mixed drink that's seasonal; They switch it up from time to time. I've had a summer drink and a Halloween drink, both were basically the same idea but not too bad. Especially not for $5. There is always a lunch special I think a 2/$20 or 2/$25 something around there. It's a pretty good deal and worth giving a shot. Overall I'd suggest this place for an easy, reasonably priced lunch or a few drinks on happy hour after a long day at work. read more

Went to this Applebees on Saturday for lunch and had a fantastic lunch!! I had the pork chop with the Cajun shrimp topper, with garlic green beans with bacon, and garlic mashed potatoes.. YUM ! All of it was perfect and delicious!! Ordered a Perfect Margarita, it was also perfect! My husband got the baby back ribs and steamed broccoli..he said both were delicious!! A huge shout out to Manny who was our server.. He was attentive and checked several times to make sure everything was the way we ordered it, and delicious. Definitely a top notch server.
