We had a really enjoyable experience overall. The food was pretty good, with everything coming out fresh and flavorful. What really stood out, though, was the service. Stephanie H took great care of us--she was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without us having to ask. She was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, and she managed our table so smoothly; even with kids in the mix. Came here because we were craving the Cesar salad dressing and chips and salsa. We love El Torito's Cesar salads. Our server Stephanie H. Greeted and seated us as she noticed we were standing at the host stand for a minute and hadn't been yet greeted. Stephanie let us know she was going to grab our chips n salsa and would be right back. The only reason we are giving 4 stars is because we wanted Mahi mahi tacos and they were out. They were also out of one other thing but I can't remember off the top of my head. We've been to this location a few times and another time they were out of salsa. Stephanie was super sweet and made sure she checked on us. Here's what we ordered: Fijita salad: 8/10 good size and enjoyed the skillet veggies and chicken. Macho combo: 8.5/10 chile relleno, white enchilada, red enchilada. All were good. The chile relleno seemed a little sad but was still good in flavor. The feijoles de La Jolla were delicious. The white enchilada and red one were both good as well. Cesar salad: 10/10 We visit this location when we're in the area. We do enjoy el torito and will be back again. read more

My dad and I stopped in after a trip to San Manuel Casino, a.k.a. Yaamava. We had the best experience ever. They were playing our jams on the overhead music. Jorge is the best waiter ever he is so sweet and polite. The food was fantastic. My father got a cheeseburger and fries and I got the fajitas with steak and shrimp. We went here for Mother's Day had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be sat. We only got sat because I spoke with the manager. Meanwhile I spoke with the manager and she said it was due to Open Table allowing for more reservations than they had capacity for. Which I have a hard time believing because I make reservations all the time with Open Table & if there aren't tables available, then it won't show availability. They could have had at least cups of water for us outside while we waited in 90 degree weather. On top of that, we had to ask them to turn on the fans both inside and outside. Lastly, the buffet was pretty good but several things were out by the time we got sat. We won't be going here again. But our waiter was nice and very helpful. The floors were dirty too. read more

The Vampiros tacos (chicken or steak) are one of the best dishes that El Torito has to offer. I suggest you order a side of consommé just to take the flavor up a notch. The tacos come with a very generous portion of guacamole, pico de gallo, and a slightly spicy, warm red sauce that comes on the side. The tacos are accompanied by the usual sides of Mexican rice, frijoles de la olla (whole pinto beans), and corn cake. We came during lunch and it wasn't particularly busy, but there were a few tables that were occupied. Service from Umaro was average, not bad nor good. He was impatient and wanted to rush us to order. I had to respectfully ask him to give us a minute. They also offer a lunch buffet for $16.50 each weekday from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. If you're not a fan of buffets, you can order from the menu. They have full-sized dinner entrees and a lunch menu with smaller portioned entrees. Overall, the meal was delicious and I will definitely be back to order it again in the future when I am craving tacos. read more

A little after 2 it seemed like they were done with the brunch as nothing was being refilled so it felt wrong to pay for a brunch buffet to get half a plate. As the workers were bringing out more plates there was obvious left over food on some of them so it made me think they weren't even cleaned just rinsed off. $140ish for two adults and two kids to barely eat a plate of food. El Torito has been a California staple for years, sad to seem them become a dying breed, being a kid in the 90s and going to El Torito was a big deal! This place has always had a special place in my heart. Living in Las Vegas we don't have any so coming to Cali and eating at one is a treat when one is near by. We came into town for the weekend and were staying nearby, I wanted to take my bf since he has never been. We came on Monday September 30th 2024 and I must say the service at 12pm was superb! The place was busy because of all the nearby buisness having lunch time allot of buisness people and they offer an all you can eat lunch that looked delicious! Our server was Gumaro and when I tell you he is the definition of what a server should be! He was very attentive to our needs and had a great personality all while doing it he had over 15 covers alone and was bussing and running all his good keeping all the drinks filled and did it all with a smile. I'm a manager at a celebrity chef restaurant on the strip and I would be proud to be his manager if he was my server! So kudos to Gumaro for his superb service! I haven't been to an El Torito in years. We were visiting the area for the weekend, and wanted some delicious margaritas. There was a group of 8b or us, and we walk in to an empty service desk. And we waited for about 10 minutes before anyone approached us, to get us seated. Our waiters service fell short this night. After being seated we waited another 10 minutes or so just to get water. And then even longer for our orders to be taken. We ordered tacos, enchiladas, bacon wrapped shrimp, sampler platter, and a few kids meals (which were supposed to come with an ice cream sundae. Our food feel short this evening as well. The kids meal wasn't even enough to feed my 7 year old. It was half a miniature sized tortilla and fruit. After my son was done eating, the waiter brings out a go-gurt and when I mentioned that the kids meals were supposed to come with sundaes he said they dont have ice cream. I questioned why it was on the kids menu if you don't have it? And how come this wasn't stated when I ordered the kids meal. Low and behold 5 minutes later he brings out ice cream for the kids meals. I am simply giving two stars for the lack of communication, and slow service we experienced this evening. read more

If I could give this place a minus stars I would. Went here for Mother's Day, made reservations a month before, arrived early and checked in. After checking in the girl informed us, we had two parties in front of us, and she would call us as soon as it was ready. 45 minutes go by I go back up there, and the girl informs us that we now have 5 parties in front of us. I said how does that happen; we made reservations for 11 a.m. it is now going on noon you told me 2 in front now 5, she had NO idea how to answer that question. (Keep in mind there were people everywhere trying to get in) But that shouldn't matter if you made a reservation. I asked my son in law to go into the bar and see if maybe they had a table we could grab and order drinks until our reservation was ready. We go into the Bar (they had a table) my son in law goes up to the bar to order drinks the bartender tells him that a waitress will be coming to our table. The waitress comes to our table we inform her that we are waiting for our table and we want to order drinks, she tells us that she needs to ask her manager if we can since we have a reservation..Wait..What???? that doesn't make sense, we want to order drinks pay for them until our table is ready. The Bar Manager comes out and tells us we cannot order drinks because we have reservations. I have never heard of such a thing, you want your customers spending money. When I questioned her, she had no reply except " I'm sorry, but we can't serve you when you have a reservation, again I have never heard of such a thing...I am a General Manager of a Hotel Resort in Palm Springs Ca and if any one of my staff members treated anyone like this, they would not be working here. I feel we were discriminated against everyone that was getting seated were of a different nationality...AGAIN, we had a reservation that we had made a month prior. I will be putting in a call to Andy, I believe he is the General Manager and sending a letter to corporate. read more
