An impressive demonstration of how many employees can walk directly past a table while collectively pretending the table has entered another dimension. We waited roughly 20 MINUTES FOR WATER. Water. Not a dry-aged steak. Not a soufflé. Not somebody stomping grapes in Napa and personally delivering the wine. WATER. After a while, I actually started counting how many times waiters and waitresses walked past our table while we waited for water and coffee. At that point brunch became less of a meal and more of a wildlife documentary: "Here we observe the elusive server in their natural habitat. Notice how gracefully they avoid eye contact while passing the same thirsty table for the sixth time." It would have been hilarious if we weren't actually paying for this experience. What really stood out was how completely uninterested much of the staff seemed. Nobody appeared particularly happy to be there. Nobody seemed concerned that customers were sitting around waiting for basic service. It felt like everyone was simply going through the motions: walk by, look busy, disappear, repeat. And apparently we're not the first people to encounter painfully slow service here. Other reviewers have complained about waiting excessively for servers and staff standing around while customers needed assistance. So our experience doesn't exactly sound like a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse. I also have to address something uncomfortable. I'm Asian and was having brunch with Black friends. I'm NOT accusing anyone of racism because I cannot possibly know what was going through anyone's mind. But when employees repeatedly walk past your table while providing service elsewhere, eventually you start wondering, "Is there some reason we're invisible?" I shouldn't leave an expensive brunch wondering whether our group was being treated differently. Maybe race had absolutely nothing to do with it. I genuinely hope it didn't. But the service was poor enough to make the thought cross my mind, and that's not a feeling any restaurant should leave a customer with. The frustrating part is that THE FOOD WAS ACTUALLY GOOD. That's what makes this experience so ridiculous. You can serve excellent food, but if customers need to consider sending out a search party to locate someone willing to refill a glass, something has gone terribly wrong. A restaurant positioning itself as an upscale steakhouse shouldn't make basic hospitality feel like an optional DLC package. Beautiful restaurant. Good food. Service with all the urgency of someone waiting for their shift to end. Maybe next time I'll bring my own water bottle, coffee thermos, and a little bell. Or possibly a flare gun. At least then somebody might notice the table.
