I started with The riblets about 3 ounces mostly bones , so I ordered the shrimp next as soon as the riblets came , 30 minutes later 5 small shrimp came out . Was there two days ago. Walked in and no one taking names to get a table. Asked girl wrapping silver ware and she said you can just sit at the door and wait it be at least 25 minutes because we are not taking anybody in because the cook is backed up. I looked around and there were lots of open tables so after seeing that I asked the girl could you seat us any way and maybe we could get a drink. She said I guess I could do that. Upon presenting our credit card, Mary (our server) says "well it least it's not Trump on there! I have seen several of those, and I am not a Trump fan". We came in on a Friday night. The place is pretty empty but service from kitchen still very slow. Quesadilla Burger was terrible AGAIN. We had one a couple months ago and it too was terrible. Not crisp, burger very tiny too small for shell, soggy from over drenched in sauce. There is plenty of staff, and the very few customers here, have been seen having to walk over to the bar after a lengthy wait with no drinks. This location has been on a rapid decline. I went into your stuff before closing time and received very rude customer service from a very old lady with grey hair and glasses. She told me the store was closed in a very rude manner a half hour before closing. I just wanted to charge my phone and she was very rude and kicked us out. As I got older, I can say that I have increased my knowledge of food, drinks, craft beers and appreciation for Applebee's. I went to Applebee's on Gull Road on Saturday, October 12th, and I really enjoy this Applebee's. It has nice staff and I love the healthy options on the menu. We had their $1 dollar drinks (October's Drink is the Vampire) it came with fake vampire teeth. Which was fun and creative. Atmosphere: I love being able to watch the game in almost all the different areas. I enjoy the option of a booth or table. I enjoy how spacious the booths are. Overall: I give this Applebee's a 4. A friend really wanted to go to Applebee's despite my protest. I've had only bad experiences. But here's a story of a bad situation turned wonderful. There we met a really super, special, awesome server named Kolvin. He provided excellent service from the moment we sat down. He got our drinks to us quickly, joked around with us a bit, and other awesome servers and himself got our food to us. And he was so awesome to keep checking in with us. Our Piña Coladas were very good, our thanks to the bartender for getting us toasty on this chilly day. The Chicken Penne my usual go to, was a let down. I ate a bunch of pasta and finally went in for the chicken. Only to find it was strangely chewy...the meat on the Chicken Penne I know is grilled. But I've never had it chewy before which alarmed me. It looked grilled on both sides, but I am unsure if it was just a bad piece or not. I didn't eat any further to check, but it wasn't like I wanted to test that theory with my intestines. The rest of the food came out freaking amazing! I let Kolvin know and he immediately asked if there was anything I wanted instead. Normally when something like this happens I am told it will be taken off the bill. But, he let me switch it out with an Oriental Salad instead. I did enjoy it as I was indeed hungry. But, It's not a dish I'd get again as it reminded me too much of Coleslaw with almonds. It's totally not Coleslaw though. The manager was such a sweetheart, they checked in with us to make sure I had my fill, and that just melted my heart. Kolvin even wrote to us as well. He wanted to make sure we had a good time time dining there and make everything right. So kind! And it's not just these two that have their all. Throughout the whole meal, we caught glimpses of hardworking staff. Getting orders, sending them in, bringing out stuff so quickly. But we also saw them laughing, encouraging, and helping each other. That's the side of things people miss while digging in their yummy food. Such hardworking awesome staff, this is the awesomeness that has won me back as a customer. Applebee's Yelp check-in offer is the best deal in town (get a free appetizer with purchase of a drink). Even better yet, one of my favorite Michigan craft beers was on tap when we rolled up to the bar yesterday (Passion Blaster, a passion fruity rose ale from New Holland. Not at all 'beery,' but a fun summer drink). The bartender who was working with such a charmer and made our visit that much more enjoyable. I loved my chicken wonton tacos ... Tangy, sweet chicken and slaw in what is functionally a wonton shaped taco. I'll probably get this every time. My husband's brisket quesadilla was as you'd expect, our her friend John's pretzels and beer cheese was okay. I'm pretty finicky about my soft pretzels and there are much better options in town, particularly Latitude 42 and Webster's. We felt so bad for the staff who were mostly twiddling their thumbs since the massive construction project on Westnedge has ground most Westnedge businesses customer flow to a halt. We ordered water and got that and my girlfriend asked for a few minutes to look over the menu. That was the last we seen of our server even though she dropped of a drink at the next table.
