As fast food franchises go, I think Culver's heads the list. The traditional franchises (McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell) are pretty tired and should be avoided. Arby's can be creative and interesting sometimes, & I do like the Reuben there. But Culver's, like this one on Gull Road in front of the Wal-Mart, is actually pretty decent. The buildings all seem to be cookie cutter (the one on 9th Street seems larger), and the furniture and decor seems identical from franchise to franchise. The TV monitors broadcast nothing but promotional material, but the sound is always off. It eliminates someone getting upset that sports is being broadcast, or FOX news. We met a friend for dinner. The evening we went was to meet the next door neighbor of my mother's who was attentive when she was ill. This Culver's was her idea. I had a double mushroom Swiss burger with krinkle fries & a soda, they each had the 6 piece shrimp dinner with cole slaw, krinkle fries, & a roll. Loved the burger, shrugged at the krinkle fries, was refreshed by the additives in my diet soda. The other two thought the cole slaw was negligible, the dinner roll was surprisingly good, the krinkle fries were okay, and the shrimp were tasty. But the cocktail sauce was, in their view, repellent. The word they used was "horror." No malt vinegar at this site for the fries (unlike Otsego). There were oodles of children, so the place must be a dinner destination for families. We had not eaten at Culvers in several months and decided we would order takeout for dinner. The order was taken promptly and the employees very professional. The food took about 5 minutes to deliver to my car. Drove home in about 6 minutes. I have to say this is the worst food ever from Culvers. The spicy chicken sandwich was so tough, there were bites that you could not chew. The onion rings were so over cooked the onions had disintegrated. The lemonade was so watered down and I ordered without ice for all three of us. The Butterbuger deluxe was just ok, as were the French fries. The chicken tenders were over cooked and tough - my dog would not even eat them. What a waste of $36.00. We will not be back. read more

Every Culver's I visit delivers the same quality experience: fast & friendly service, good food, and clean facilities. They're better than a McDonald's or Chick-Fil-A but not as fancy-casual as a Panera. This particular location was the perfect spot for me and my friend to grab two ice cream of-the-days and talk for 2 hours. Around the dinner rush, an employee handed a sheet of coupons to every table like "Hey, we value your business. Come try more of our delicious food." The restaurant isn't too loud despite being busy and playing oldies and country music. Their crinkle cut fries are my favorite fry out of any other fast food chain. And their ice cream creations are usually great too, especially if they're topped with liquid marshmallow. One thing that blows me away about this establishment is that they have quality facial tissues in their restrooms. I love this location. Tons of busy employees, ultra friendly and that's both inside dine -in and via the drive thru. I tend to be baked and somewhat annoying with weird stuff I like or ask for. I had the chance to try the Culver's on S. Westnedge and I love this place. The last time I went to a Culver's I had the bacon cheeseburger value meal which is excellent. The cheese melted nicely, the patties were juicy, and the fries were ok. This time armed with coupons, I went in with a friend, and hoped to use them. Of course they took the coupons for a buy one, get one cheeseburger! For a few bucks more we got fries and a drink with it. Then they were nice enough to let us also use a buy one, get one free two scoop! The frozen treats they make in this place are so good! You start out with a base flavor like vanilla or chocolate custard. Then add up to two toppings to give it that personal touch. If you want a traditional scoop like a turtle or double chocolate. But my experience at Culvers tonight was not the best ... ordered the new BLT Spinach artichoke chicken sandwich... super excited... when I received my meal there was no BACON a crucial part of a BLT ... when I was able to talk to a employee I was told they would bring me bacon ... wait what .. The Culvers Chain has the best food, with the most consistency and creativity that I've ever enjoyed. I don't go to any other fast food restaurant any longer! Their style is fast-casual with a very good order numbering system. There are three in the Kalamazoo area and they all are 5/5. Had read and heard good things about Culver's so I decided to give it a try. At checkout I was greeted by the store manager who was happy to run through the menu with me and explain how stuff worked. When he learned it was my first time there he very kindly offered a number of coupons and menus in an envelope. Everyone else, from the waitress to the janitor, was very polite. My first time eating here. Staff very friendly taking my order, fast service. The place was spotlessly clean. I saw several servers go directly up to customers and assist them to find their way around the condomints, another held the door for an elderly woman. Be aware this is a restaurant that doesn't think wearing gloves is important when they prepare your food they actually told me it's healthier for me if their employees don't use gloves.
