On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, we dined in at the Applebee's Grill + Bar #2020017 of Pittsburgh, Pa 15235. I ordered ribs. Contrary to the menu the full rack (11 ribs) double-glazed baby back ribs were "NOT-FALL-OFF-THE BONE tender. I had to "saw" between the bones with so much force I could have cut a 1/4" plywood. I told the server many years ago, with different owners, the ribs were properly identified as fall-off-the-bone tender, but not my order. She smiled. The seasoned broccoli and the garlicky green beans were on one large saucer instead of separate bowls but they were great. We shared the apple pie skillet dessert with one scoop of vanilla ice cream. We chose not to have the caramel sauce on it and it was good. CAUTION: ALWAYS ASK FOR FALL-OFF-THE-BONE TENDER RIBS. read more

I'll start this off with I hate going to Applebee's as I feel most people do but when you're hungry and Texas Roadhouse wait was too long that's where we ended up. We had a group of ten so we had to wait a bit which was expected. The food was average if not below as it always is The service was not up to par at all! they ran out of half their menu including the mozzarella sticks for the combo and refused to swap out for pretzels which seems like an easy switch. The combo comes with 4 choices and the choose your own only comes with three. Plus it's cheaper. When the manager came over when asked she was rude about it and lacked customer service she suggested we buy another buy the pretzels separate even though THEY ran out. She also said "we ran out since businesses was so good" to me Im hearing that they could have comped the pretzels or just allow us to switch as requested. As the manager if that's the expectation the servers can't be much better. Our server was nice she just seemed overwhelmed dealing with our big table plus other tables so she wasn't on top of it like she may have been in a slower day so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt When it came time to pay my pap couldn't get the discounted price because I'm younger than the required age but the person That's PAYINB is the correct age so for them to be sticklers like that is really ridiculous. That's more of a company issue but honestly I've been to chain restaurants where they will just give a small discount to appease the customer. That's the point of customer service. read more

We've always been pleased with our visits to Applebee's, but not this time. The food was okay, but the service was definitely lacking. Upon arrival, I told the hostess that we needed either a table or a half-and-half because I can't sit in booths. So, what does she do? She seats us at a booth then walks off (smh). Luckily, someone else nearby seated us at the table across from the booth. We then got a mini-menu, not the full one. We had to ask for the full menu because we knew before going what we wanted to order (our usuals), and none of them were on the mini-menu. After ordering, we waited for our meals. And waited. And waited. After waiting for over half and hour. The booth we were initially seated at and later occupied by a couple already had their food. I finally flagged our server (who never came to our table once since taking our order) and asked why our order was taking so long. She said she'd go see if there was an issue with the order. Uh, we shouldn't have had to ask her to do that! When we finally got our food, I had to ask for silverware so we could eat it (smh). We shouldn't have to ask! My granddaughter had to ask for steak sauce, and her medium-well steak was medium, not medium well. All in all, it was a most disappointing meal that was supposed to have been a celebration of my two grandchildren's birthdays. read more

Love our neighborhood bar and grill! I feel like we always have a great experience at Applebee's. We were sat right away, greeted and placed our drinks in such a timely manner. The server was super sweet and attentive. We shared the sampler and tried the new grilled cheese burger! I recommend trying it at least once because it was a hot comfort meal on a cold winter night. Took some food home and love being able to settle up directly at our table. read more

Service has always been slow. We've been there 3 times. The food last night was terrible. The fried chicken on the sandwich was rubbery. The fries were undercooked and lack luster. The cilantro rice was terrible. My husband's grilled cheese hamburger Was average and there was hardly any tomato soup. All in all, it was not a good experience. read more

Applebees in My impression is going downhill. Covid has killed everything even a good family restaurant in the neighborhood, the service was wonderful the food was lousy. The burger was burnt, little meat, The tomato was larger. The onion rings the breading was horrible and wonton tacos were thrown in a bowl very messy. I would not recommend this restaurant, and I don't think we will be returning. read more

This review come to you from a sports bar atmosphere that comfortable, relaxing, and full of televisions where you can eat, have a cocktail, and watch your favorite sports team become victorious. My review is regarding an Oriental SALAD I FOUND ON A MENU AT Applebee's. I don't know what the dressing ingredients are but WOW, such an array of flavors dancing atop a bed of fresh crispy greens and either fried or baked chicken sliced into squares. This pick has seeds, dried rice strips, lettuce and all the wonderful ingredients that has the taste of freshness from your own garden. The service is to be applauded and appreciated with kind wait staff and host or hostess. This is a short review of a big salad, not just any salad but a salad full of flavor. A must try to be enjoyed and savored for the palate. read more

I ordered a 12 Ounce Rib Steak with Garlic Potatoes & a side of Boneless Wings. Wings were fine, but the potatoes had a hard crust on top. Like cement! My ri Steak was suppose to be Medium Rare. It was RARE, and should of been back in the field. It had a bone in it and didn't even look like a rib steak. I asked to talk to a manager TWICE but the waitress just ignored it I guess. NO taste at all. I just came from the airport and was starving so I ate the steak pretty much raw. I ate it and I paid for it. But for the first time in my long life i didd not leave a tip. They should be ashamed!!! $57.53 for the total meal. read more

They got my order wrong and they put crispy onions on my Usually I like Applebee's but not today!!!

Have gone twice recently and service and food were horrible! We went last year too and again it was horrible. Not going again!

We came in for dessert after a tour of the hospital. I ended up getting loaded cheese fries which were really good. Cake was great also. Our server Chey was so sweet. Super friendly and did a great job. We will be back! We live on the other side of Monroeville so we are not here often ... but good to know the service is so great here. Restrooms were clean and tables were clean. Plenty of parking also. read more

Food was pretty good for Applebees, our waitress was super polite and was very quick with filling drinks and bringing napkins. Our grandma snapped at her and she kept a smile the whole time and was extremely forgiving when we apologized for her or needed extra napkins because of a spill. There was a lot of people and not a lot of waitresses, but they did extremely well given there was only 3 of them. If you don't go for the food, go for the staff and ambience. read more

A consistent chain with a menu that leaves me with many options that takes me a moment or two to decide. There are so many that are colorful with veggies and so many that seem healthy. This pleases me very much. It was lunchtime and they have specials in which you can choose 2 from different categories for prices by category. My husband chose that option and had 1/2 a grilled club sandwich and a chicken Caesar salad and I had the crispy chicken salad. We were both satisfied with our choices and finished every bite. Service was good, quality of food was great, prices were fair. read more

A nice family dinner or so I thought. They never brought me the soup I asked for. We never got the marinara sauce I asked for 2 times for our appetizer. Then they bring the wrong meal to my wife. They then added sour cream to my potato after I asked nicely for none. It was a disaster ! We eat out very often as a family and it won't be back to this place. Sadly I have to give one star. read more

Came here for something cheap and fast to eat last night. My friends and I decided to try their $1 strawberry margarita's. It was incredibly sweet, tasted more like puree than anything else with no alcohol taste. But hey, it's a dollar, I can't expect much. We did a few of those, but after feeling literally no effects, I decided to stop drinking so I didn't get a sugar headache later in the night. We ordered the $13 app combo. We did two orders of that for the table. The sizes were really good for two people to share, so we had more than enough food with three of us. We ordered the spinach dip, the white queso and chips (not enough queso in the dish, especially compared to the spin dip), pretzels, buffalo boneless wings, mozeralla sticks and quesdillas. Nothing was outstanding in taste, but nothing was bad. It was.. exactly as we had expected. Can't complain! Service was a little slow for a Sunday night with barely anyone in, but our server was nice. Just seemed busy with closing work. Probably would not do that app combo again.. later that night my stomach was killing me from all of the greasy food. I think next time I'll try to include some greens in my meal and maybe quit the $1 fruity drinks, since they're essentially just puree and water. read more

How hard is it to get an order right? Is it possible to get a food order served on a plate commensurate in size to the food being plated? If you are notified that the food delivered is wrong, is it too much to expect an apology, and not hear "I've never actually looked at the menu" (sly look, wink, wink, nod nod...like it's some funny inside joke). There's a reason I've not been to an Applebee's for years...nice to see that some things just never change. The food was passable, my rack of ribs jammed onto a too small rectangular plate with broccoli and the wrong kind of fries (ordered the garlic fries, not plain), the waitress displayed not a care that the fries were wrong, and quite frankly I don't do lemme fix it - get it right the first time...that is your job. Corporate culture, staff training...fail. read more

Placed an online order, was given wrong order & did not realize until already home (I know, I should've checked bag before leaving) called & asked for it to be replaced & was told 15 minutes (the order was just 1 meal) arrived back at the restaurant within 15 minutes & waited another 10 minutes. Checked bag & went home. The fries were definitely new, however the chicken wrap was not. Didn't eat it due to it being 45 minutes since original order was to be done & did not want to chance getting sick. Didn't even bother to call a second time read more

More like 2.5 stars. Not the best Applebees I've been to but not the worst either. They seem to have some strange policies in place. If you order car side to go after 8:00 they make you go into the restaurant. They also won't seat until your entire party is there even if your entire party is two people and the restaurant is fairly empty. The servers were fairly unprofessional. At one point our server shouted over our table to the bar tender about something. I suppose that sort of thing happens when the oldest employee that evening appered to be under 30 years old. Not that people who are young can't be professional, but this crew certainly was not. Service was also fairly slow. Often I had to ask more then once for either more water or a side of sauce. Food is typical of any Applebees. As long as you go expecting chain restaurant food, you won't be disappointed. The best deals are to go after 9 and get half off of a nice selection of appetizers. read more

Applebee's is the first restaurant that I have visited since the green phase . I was hoping for a reassuring experience that left me feeling confident returning to eating out. Many of the waiters and waitresses wore their masks below their mouths around their chins. They might as well not have worn them. Managers should in force the serious health measure. I don't know when I will feel safe going back???? As for the food, my Bourbon chicken and shrimp was seasoned with way too much garlic. My husband liked his ribs. The mask laxness ruined my experience! read more

I stopped by here just to get a Caesar salad and meet my sister for some drinks. It wasn't busy tonight so I was happy that I wouldn't have to wait or squeeze through the large crowds. By the time I got to the restaurant my sister had already ordered her meal. She got the shrimp and rice dish which I thought was very bland. The rice was cooked pretty well and the shrimp too but it just tasted like tomatoes nothing special. I ordered a Cesar side salad and my hubby got the Blondie dessert dish. Both were pretty good I finished all my salad and I had a small bite of his Blondie which taste like a vanilla brownie. It wasn't 9 o'clock yet so I didn't get a chance to take advantage of the discount appetizers and drinks specials but I still managed to order me a long island. It wasn't that strong which is what I prefer but it tasted a lot like lemonade as opposed to ice tea. I do like how they updated the place and I don't really have any bad things to say about it but it is just a typical run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. most of the food sometimes does taste like it came from a microwave package. I guess it's what you can expect from a chain place although there are some better Applebee's but this one just happened to be the closest to my house. read more

Went here for lunch with the office and it was slow, food was wrong and 3 people got food poisoning, sick for 3 days

Not a big fan of big chains. But sometimes you gotta go with the flow. This Applebee's, in Penn Center, is crazy wicked busy for lunch during the week. And they are great at moving people through to get as much of our lunch money as possible. So that means service is great. I've only ever gotten salads here and they have always been flavorful and as presented in their commercials and menu. The fact that they openly support the men and women in the military is a plus for me and makes me want to support this chain a little more. Oh yes, and they also support the America's 911 MC ride. Thanks for that, too, Applebee's - I'll try and return the favor more often! read more

It's Applebee's. Let's get that out of the way right now- it's a chain, the food isn't gourmet, and if you are expecting to be blown away, you will be disappointed. That said, the food is good and the server I had on Monday was awesome. It's a shame I didn't catch his name, because I'd request him. He was attentive, friendly and personable, and patient with my party's disorganized ordering process. I was there around lunch time, and it was busy but not packed. Everything was clean (including the bathrooms), and everyone I encountered was friendly. read more

Food was awfulllllllllllll!! Beer was good. Cold and fast. Food was worse than TV dinners. Absolutely nothing at all like the TV commercial that brought me into the restaurant for dinner. Sloppy presentation. No taste. What could be worse? I ordered a salad with chicken to go for my lunch at work the following day. Sooo, at work I remove my salad from the refrigerator and consider eating it. Two other employees asked me about the wilted brown-tipped broccoli in the container. I threw the entire container away without taking a bite. That was about $10-11 including tip tossed in the trash. Next day after extensive searching for a contact for the Monroeville, PA location, I sent an e-mail describing my excellent beer, pretty good service, mediocre meal not finished and the terrible salad packaged to-go. There was no sarcasm at that time, just an honest description of the food and service. The manager's response was that I should ask for him or another manager when I returned. No refund offered. No " come in for a free meal to offset two awful meals previously paid for." I would not return for a $100.00 gift card. The experience and response fits Applebee's. Neither are worth consideration. Maybe that is why the restaurant was nearly empty when I visited. Save your money. Get "fast food" instead. That would be better! read more

My 12 oz sirloin was at least 4oz of fat. Gross. Pathetic, really. Also pathetic, someone from the kitchen delivered food to another patron. Abysmal. Would give this location 0 stars if possible. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon in a rainstorm and were told by the hostess that not only were there no clean tables in their COVID-reduced capacity, but that we couldn't use the empty waiting area either, and would have to step outside. In the rain. With our baby. Embarrassment to the chain and local restaurants in general. We'll NEVER return here, and strongly urge you not to either.
