I wish I could give no stars to this establishment went there the other night wasn't too crowded went inside got a table and then was totally ignored I don't know maybe it was because I was in the wheelchair and they figured I didn't have a big tip for them. This place just gets worse. Went on a Saturday at around 1:00. Nobody else waiting in line, and restaurant only about half full, but the host (who was oddly wearing a fishing hat, ) told us it would be a 20 min wait. Ummm why? there is no one waiting and a ton of open tables. We asked if we could go to the "bar". Sat down at the "bar" and were finally given water but no menu. After finding our own menus, we began to take notice of our very dirty surroundings. Did I mention the place is dirty? Dirty floors, dirty counter, just a general feeling of grime ya know??? My family and I went here to eat. We hardly go to Applebees just because of the prices. But tonight, people who walked in at least 25min after us got their food first, they gave us our daughters food 20ish minutes before we even got our own food so by the time we got our own she was done with hers and ready to go. I got the wrong order and sent it back because if you're gonna take almost an hour to get a burger out it should be what I ordered and not what you think I should have especially if I'm paying for it. Once the waitress came back and apologized I asked for it to be in a To-go box and we got our check and left. Once we got home, I looked and my burger not only had no cheese, it was completely RAW! I am pregnant so I should not be eating anything even close to raw. I also after cooking my burger throughly, was eating the fries and one of the fries I ate tasted like pure MOLD! The food was fine, but the environment could use some improvement. The urinal in the men's bathroom seriously needs to be replaced. It has excessive staining that appeared to be permanent. Also, one of the workers was asked to clean the windows around the restaurant during lunch hour, and they complained to diners while doing it. I know work can suck, but please save the complaints for your friends and coworkers. read more

I have been here multiple times. Today I was waiting for a table/to be seated and I had a direct view of the kitchen. I saw/heard a worker girl in a yellow shirt say "shit will you dip these chicken tenders in Buffalo sauce for me" as she grabs them with her DIRTY just rubbed her nose/no glove hands and man handles them and acts like nothing happen. ***Update*** Now under new management and is MUCH IMPROVED! Since my first review and probably the last time I would spend any of my money at this Applebee's much has changed. Meals are so much better! Worthy of 3.5*-4*. The quality of this small town Applebee's is 20x better than what it was. I've eaten there twice now. The food is much better prepared. The honey chicken and shrimp was really good. Loved the fresh green beans that came with it! The friends we ate with also enjoyed their meals. Props to the new management and staff! Worst dining experience ever at an Applebee's. I wasn't planning on writing a review of this place because it's just a chain restaurant but here I am. Stopped by here with a coworker and ended up spending our entire lunch break plus some with no food. It was a Sunday evening. It wasn't that crowded but for some reason their entire staff was in the weeds. No management present and when I went to check on what was taking so long I could see rows of food under the warmers. No one was expediting the orders and the servers just seemed to be standing around. People were getting up and leaving. Several tables around us had their food comped. When the food arrived it was luke warm. We couldn't say anything at the time we just paid the bill and left. Needless to say, but the tip wasn't that great and we would have been a lot happier just going to McDonalds or Subway. read more

To review or not to review, Not a big fan of Applebee's but got a gift card for Christmas so here we are. I have eaten at this location several times because its close to home. Every time I eat here, something is always screwed up. This time my Salad came after my burger was served only because I asked where it was after I got my Burger. And the burger, came with no condiments, no lettuce, no onions, no tomato, no pickle, no mustard, no ketchup, no mayo. Just a burger, some bacon and a bun. Oh yes, fries too. Menu looks better with a larger variety of choices but the prices are higher too. Now the last 2 times I was in they did make good on their mistakes. This is by far the worst Applebee's out of all the ones in Kansas. Every time I go there they have some major problem, service is always bad and food is always bad. Last time I went there the food scalded the hole inside of my mouth because it was so hot. Normally they don't serve the food hot at all. The food I ordered had no flavor, paid too much for what I got and I was still hungry after I finished the meal. This Applebee's is just a few doors away from the Walmart on Baptiste Dr. in Paola, KS (take Hwy 169 south from Olathe, approx 21 miles - bottom of offramp, turn RIGHT -west- 400 yds or so and it is on your right side; go around to the 'back' of bldg for the parking entry. The food is good, the prices are proper, the wait-staff ers are quite friendly. The dining area and environs are kept clean quite well. A very pleasant place to grab a meal and yak a bit over a drink. Go, do, be, yeah! read more

Appetizers, drinks and desserts are fine, but depending on who is cooking, the entrees will be SMOTHERED in salt. So much salt as to be inedible. If you luck out and do get a good cook, the food is great. But I don't order entrees there anymore. Also they need new carpet or to clean the existing carpet because it's gross. read more

I eat here regularly when I'm in Paola. They were fair to poor a couple years back but now they have greatly improved. They even have been working there temps for stakes. Clearly they up to par for an Applebee's and better than some in Kansas City. read more
