Curbside Staff: Sofia is most like the most personable, patient and kind person I have ever had the pleasure of talking with. Her in depth product knowledge alone could not be beat. Top notch Tex/Mex (this is not South of the border mexican food) food preparation and packaging. To my utter amazement even the lettuce was still crisp! I have to say how well they tested us for my partner's birthday celebration. We called ahead to reserve space for up to 30/35 people on a Friday night. The manager asked us to call again the day before our event for a definite number. We did and we arrived there about 10-15 minutes before. When I say it took five minutes for them to come back to the hostess desk to let us know it was ready, that's what I mean. They had two waitresses ready to help us and they both were nice and kind. Shyenne and Hope, you deserve many accolades! The room was set up for us to dine with plenty of room. Our drinks and food came fast once we ordered. If you want to celebrate your birthday and get great service, you must dine here! P.S. the hostess was challenging. She didn't "know" where to direct guests when they came in. We spoke to the hostess letting them know we were there for the party of 30-35 and when some of our guests arrived, she was confused about where to send them. I love Jose Peppers I grew up going to the 143rd and metcalf location never and issue dining in or taking out there but at this location its always something. The other day for lunch I ordered a salad with bbq ranch dressing to go and it was great. (Belton location) The next day I placed a dinner togo order for a salad with bbq ranch and they had no idea what the dressing was and couldn't supply it said corporate needs to change the website ect ect Went to Jose Peppers last night OP location asked for BBq ranch dressing on my salad and got it Tonight I placed an order to go For two salads taco salad and cheese crisp 30 mins in advance and not only did they lose our order...Husband waited 20 mins while they remade it drove home and They didn't put any type of dressing in our togo bag or on our salads. Super disappointing as I love t this place and spend money there almost daily when in town. Other than customer service and managing issues the food is always great. read more

Friday night arrived around 6pm. No wait for a table for two. Great start! Yes to the espinaca dip and bottomless hot thin crispy chips. Service was awkward. Lots of attention before we ordered and then barely 5 minutes after our food arrived server asked us if there would be anything else and would it be one check? After that no sight of her for a good long while. No refills of chips or drinks. She slid our check on the table with a smile and I had to flag her to come back with a takeout box. I tried the carnitas tacos. The meat was tender and juicy and I was delighted that it wasn't stringy. The two main flavors were onion and cilantro, which thankfully I like. Not impressed with the rice or beans, very standard fare. Blackened chicken (a new addition to the menu) was OK. Glad it came with a little guacamole to add to the dish, it needed a little amping up. read more

The food was good, the server Phoebe was very nice and I would give her 5 stars! We were celebrating birthdays for my wife and a good friend. Phoebe brought out two desserts for the birthday girls and wished them happy birthday. A few minutes later the manager, Sam, came out and asked when were the birthdays, one was tonight and one was Monday. He was not very nice and walked away. Phoebe then had to come back and ask us to pay for one because it wasn't the exact day. This was tacky and rude. We will not go back and our friends were totally turned off by this service. I've always been iffy about Jose peppers. It's always a hit or miss for me. This time was a miss. The cups of water that I received was dirty. The silverware that my feather received when unwrapping or from the napkin was dirty. He unwrapped 4 different silverware's and they were all dirty! All of them! Hat's off to the Chef at Jose Peppers Belton! They must have a real Chef. Somehow Jose Peppers has improved the quality of their Mexican food fare above and beyond a normal national chain restaurant. There is real flavor in the food and no longer the bland fare most Mexican eateries have. Enchiladas have more meat and cheese and it's not just plain hamburger wrapped in a tortilla. The Chili Verde meals are loaded with flavor and the anniversary taco is packed with more than just a pinch of hamburger and sprinkle of shredded cheese. We've never been disappointed over the last year and we've tried many different items from the menu. Somehow the Chef creates flavor and mild spice but not the heat. Even the Mexican Rice is different and not just a lump of rice from a hot pot. Not a fan of Cilantro Rice but it still reflects an effort to add variety and taste to what is usually just the mundane side items. Food arrives promptly in a colorful and scrumptious looking presentation. Prices are up but still not as much as many other eateries in comparison. What happened to Jose Peppers? They used to be a staple in the KC area, but ever since the pandemic, this chain has gone far downhill. The prices and service are bad and the food is barely any better. Jose Peppers has always been known for being very inconsistent. One day, your espinanca dip will be thick and chunky, the next visit, it will be runny and soupy. It's just the way it is with a chain restaurant that cares more about profit than it does consistent quality. And nothing makes that more apparent than the cutbacks they have taken lately. One of my favorite menu items at Jose Peppers used to be their jumbo stuffed jalapeños. They were whole jalapeños (That's right, whole, as in the entire pepper) stuffed with chicken and cheese and coated in Pablo bread crumbs and lightly fried. They were delicious. Post-pandemic, however, they've been reduced to an after-thought. A panko casing filled with soup mix and pickled jalapeño chunks, a far cry from the delicacy it used to be. The side "salad" used to be plentiful and now it is just about a gram of lettuce buried underneath an entire cup of cheese, croutons and tomatoes. I decided to order nachos for my entree. Once my nachos came, I realized that they missed an ingredient. They didn't put the refried beans underneath the rest of the toppings. So essentially all I got was some extra chips with melted cheese and chicken on them. My server offered to have them make it for me again, but my lunch break was already almost over and I had to have them take it off my bill and I left hungry. Do yourself a favor--If you're even THINKING of visiting an establishment like Jose Peppers in Belton, ditch them and go to Mi Rancho down the street. It's a bit harder to find (Behind the Burger King, next to the dispensary), but the food and service are what Mexican food SHOULD be! Jose Peppers is a disappointment. read more

I'm a weekly regular at this location and I've just had the worst food I've ver had in a restaurant. I ordered a taco salad and cheeseburger to go. The taco salad was absolutely cold. The shell was so old and stale I think it was a week old at least. There was no condensation on the to go container to allude to the fact that my taco salad shell or burger was ever hot. The burger bun was wet and slimy . Im confused on how that happened when I ordered it and took it home to eat within a 20 minute period. It would be a book to explain how disgusting this food was. I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant. It feels like there cutting corners on the quality of the food to keep the prices down. Just absolutely disgusting. Cannot give zero stars but would if I could and did not even try the food. Upon walking in, the host finished blowing his nose, wiping it again & then stuck the paper in his pocket. He then coughed into his hand, picked up the menus & showed us to our table, only AFTER picking up 2 rolls of silverware. Never washed hands nor used sanitizer. We should have walked out right then but I had thought I could wipe off plasticized menus but the silverware was last straw. My husband & I looked at each other & left. We used to eat here every time we went thru town, but never again. The kitchen area was no where close to being as clean as it used to be. What happened to good hygiene? Jose Peppers is a great modern Mexican restaurant in northern Cass County. ATMOSPHERE: JP is laid out like a standard family restaurant along with a bar area and TVs broadcasting sports games. It can get a little loud if the place is packed. SERVICE: My server Carl was on point the whole time. He was fast and friendly, and he anticipated drink and chips refills before having to be asked. In addition he offered to give me a to-go drink for the road. FOOD: Maybe some sticklers won't call this "authentic" Mexican, but it's still delicious. Every table gets complimentary chips and homemade salsa. For a starter I tried their jumbo stuffed jalapenos. These potato-sized balls of chicken, cream cheese, and Monterey jack could be their own meal. They were so filling that I ate only one and saved the other so I had room for my entree. The next course was the Baja burrito, which was another very filling dish. For a burrito it was impressive. Lots of spices and swimming in savory sauce. The refried beans were only decent, but the Mexican rice is probably some if the best I've eaten. It's well seasoned and has a hint of lime. In the end I took half my meal home because it was simply too much. VALUE: JP does well in this respect. The prices are very reasonable, and combined with the large portions and great service this place offers good bang for the buck. read more

I went in at an off time for most businesses and was so pleasantly impressed. They sat us bar side and we never once had an empty drink glass. The time from ordering to eating was so fast and the food was hot and fresh and fabulous. Our server checked in on us several times, the food runner brought back fresh refills, and the manager stopped by at our table to check in our meal. I really wanted to give a better review one star for the food, everything else was terrible. My husband made an order online for pick up around 530pm on 12/5. On your website it asks for the type of vehicle you'll be arriving in. We arrived, parking lot packed. People going into the restaurant without masks on, adults and children. My husband called the number on the sign and told the gentleman that answered that he was here to pick up but he needed to change the vehicle we were in since it was different than what he put on the order. We got transferred to take out where we sat on hold for 5 mins. My husband had to flag down someone outside to let them know we were waiting. A woman finally answered and he told her we were there to get our food but our vehicle was different than previously indicated. She paused then said she didn't know what he was talking about. He repeated himself and she argued that vehicle info isn't asked for. Well, if that's the case then my husband wouldn't have had to indicated 'gray Honda Odyssey' on your website. Lady was rude and apparently un-informed. While we waited, we observed wait staff through the window wearing their masks below their nose. Young girl that brought our food was nice and made conversation. Food was good. I'm incredibly disappointed that with millions of people worldwide dead, you'd allow patrons into your restaurant without a mask, and seemingly with a high capacity.
