This was typicel hot August day and our car's a/c quit, we weĺcomed the cool dining room that was so refreshing. Seating was quick and the drinks came right away. It obviously is a sports bar with good food and open to creative new dishes that are quick and simple to be crowd pleasers. Tv's everÿwhere playing assorted sports. We started with the appetizer. My husband was anxious to try these new wonton tacos, when they came out he ate 2 of the 4, They were a hit in his book and he liked the blend beef, vege, and they had the only drawback of a spice that lended heat to the tacos The lunch maindishes of riblets and a scoop of garlic mashed potatoes for both of us, was really good. Look, I was pregnant and the craving for Applebee's Oriental Chicken Salad would not let up. I drug my husband and toddler to Pikesville to get down to business. I have never sent food back but when the bagged salad obviously expired a few weeks ago and you're faced with it, you gotta make a choice. I also was wondering, does Applebees just microwave everything now? The garlic green beans lacked flavor, including the garlic! The side salad is the smallest portion I have ever gotten from a restaurant. The Mac and cheese were really good! The honey chicken tender pasta is also very good. The place needed to be cleaned up. The table was wiped down but still sticky. The bathrooms also needed to be cleaned. The cheese bites were cold and salty.The drinks were delicious. We did wait 15 minutes for them. We ended up having to ask another server. I am not sure what it means to be "Fancy like Applebee's on date night." Applebee's has always struck me as the low end of middle of the road. Certainly not fancy. My younger sister used to work at Applebee's, in Timonium (it's closed now) so we used go there all the time. And then she met her future husband there. He used to wear an "Otis" nametag, even though his name is Mike - specifically so he could ignore customers when they would call out "Otis!" trying to get his attention. We had my grandfather's after funeral dinner at Applebee's in Dundalk, which is also now closed. So, imagine my surprise when they opened a brand-new location in White Marsh. It's a fine place. Not enough accessible parking for the lunch rush. Let's get to the food... So, my boyfriend was excited to see a VERY blue Mountain Dew available. He really enjoyed Dark Berry Bash... As an appetizer he ordered (but then did not eat until later that night) the Neighborhood Nachos with Beef: Freshly made white corn tortilla chips are topped with taco-seasoned ground beef, queso blanco, a blend of melted Cheddar cheeses, house-made pico de gallo, fresh jalapeños, chopped cilantro, sour cream and guacamole. $12.99 He's not into guac or avocado but somehow managed to eat half the nachos - cold, I may add - in the nighttime hours. The next day we had the other half and he was like, uhhh did I eat all the guacamole last night?! Yes, apparently he did. He also got the NEW Neighborhood Double Burger: A neighborhood classic. Two juicy, all-beef 3.5 oz. patties are seared and stacked with American cheese and smothered with buttery garlic sauce, pickles on a Brioche bun. $12.99 He claimed it was a "perfectly valid cheese burger but half the time I couldn't even tell it had garlic sauce on it." Added boneless garlic parmesan wings for a dollar, which were "far superior to the garlic sauce on the burger." My mother ordered Brew Pub Pretzels & Beer Cheese Dip for her app. Soft, Bavarian-style pretzel sticks are ready to dip in BLUE MOON® white Cheddar beer cheese and honey Dijon mustard. $9.99... gotta say, I don't understand this newfound thing restaurants are doing with beer cheese. Gosh that was awful. But the dijon mustard dip is delicious. The pretzels are well-salted, soft and satisfying. For her main meal she got Double Crunch Shrimp: Crispy, battered shrimp are fried golden brown. Served with cocktail sauce, our signature coleslaw and fries. $17.99 She liked it, but it's hard to destroy boxed battered shrimp. She ALWAYS gets boxed battered shrimp. She always shares. They always taste like the last boxed battered shrimp she got at the last luncheon restaurant. She's reached that age where she orders the same safe foods. Funny, because she always seemed to be disappointed when my grandmother did that. I ordered the BACON CHEDDAR GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH: Our grilled chicken breast is topped with two strips of Applewood-smoked bacon and Cheddar, then finished with tangy house-made BBQ ranch, crisp lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles on a Brioche bun. Served with classic fries. $13.99 For reasons, I'm on a month-long streak where I order a sandwich and it doesn't seem to have sauce on it. There wasn't any sort of BBQ or ranch flavor. There was something on the bottom bun, which soaked through and made the bun horribly mushy. Why put the sauce on the thinner part of the bun? The lettuce was limp, slightly slimy and completely worthless. When I packed the leftover half of my sandwich to take home, I left the condiments and the bottom bun. And, can I mention, the take-away containers are laughably tiny? So we were forced to leave our fries - which AREN'T the only side available so if you don't like fries, ask what else is available. Glad to check this restaurant off our list of local places, as we visit a different place every week with my mom. Won't return. Don't recommend unless you like that basic menu. Good food, decent service. Applebee's is your regular chain restaurant, with specials and deals that reel you in. I went very recently to catch the twelve shrimp with any steak entree meal. It was surprisingly crowded at the White Marsh location (not sure why I was surprised, I suppose I'm still getting used to things being full again.) Anyways, I sat at the bar, which had patrons, but still plenty of space to sit. The bartenders, although very busy, we're pretty friendly. Although the busboys cleared plates from the bar and surrounding tables quickly, they didn't really wipe down things. There was a bit of a stench coming from either the carpet or mildew from dirty rags, I honestly couldn't tell. But I pressed on, hopeful that things would get better (a bartender eventually wiped down parts of the bar.) I waited a few minutes before I was serviced, but it wasn't a huge deal. I knew exactly what I wanted- 6 oz. steak (well done) with mashed potatoes and broccoli with the shrimp. It took about fifteen minutes before my food came out. Everything was delish! The mashed potatoes are thick and well seasoned and the broccoli was buttery and full of flavor. I didn't need salt or pepper or anything extra. It was perfect the way it came out. The steak was cooked perfectly and came with steak sauce, which was a plus because I didn't have to ask. Although it was well seasoned, there was a lot of fatty parts on my steak. Not a huge deal, but I had to expect that for around $18 bucks for shrimp, steak and sides that it wasn't gonna to be a Filet mignon, ya know? The shrimp were obviously the star of the show! Perfectly crispy, perfectly seasoned- just perfect! I left without taking pictures, but I definitely finished everything and was very satisfied. I'll come back in the future for the shrimp for sure! All in all, you get what you pay for. Food was good and simple. Atmosphere wasn't the classiest fare, but I came alone, so if I had a group with me or just an extra person, but would've been different. They just need to freshen things up a bit more. I received the equivalent of 1 strip. I complained to my server and the manager. I was brought out one more strip. Still not what was pictured and not worth the cost. I returned my entire meal. FIRST VISIT LAST VISIT: On Friday the 17th, about 3pm my wife and I decided to try APPLEBEES. What a mistake. The hostess was fully masked and non-verbal. We asked for a booth at the window and we were marched to a table, menus dumped and she departed, wordless. After ten minutes and not even a "hello, I'll be your waiter and will be right back to take your order, " it was all crickets . . . After about ten minutes, my wife went back over to the hostess and requested a waiter. She was, more or less dismissed by the non-verbal hostess. Another 5 minutes and I told my wife that evidently APPLEBEES did not want our business, even though additional diners arrived after us, were seated and had drinks with attentive waiters. And suspiciously, the happy diners, burger munching away, all appeared to be of a different racial group than my wife and I. Am I saying APPLEBEES has a racists policy in that store? No I'm not, I'm just relating what I experienced. So, after 15 minutes of being consciously ignored, we got up and walked passed the non-verbal hostess and left the restaurant. I had not been to an Applebees in probably 6+ years. In that time I realized they have gone through a big facelift. Despite how great the restaurant looked, service is also very important! No matter it being a chain, the service should still hold up its own! When we first entered we awkwardly stood there probably for about 2 mins. Someone walked up, looked at the table chart, said hold on, walked away and then someone else came to greet us. While this person was trying to walk us over to the table the initial guy that was at the host stand, blocked her way, refusing to move (playfully) as we continue to awkwardly stand there... she eventually had to walk around to the other end. our server on the other hand was fantastic! We went on July 4th and the server looks fine except it looks like she doesn't want to go to work on a holiday, which is understandable. But she spilled drink on our table and it fell through the spaces of the outdoor table and went directly in my friend's feet that has a bandage that time. The server didn't help nor offered napkins so we can at least wipe her legs. It's a holiday so of course we tipped, but we shouldn't have. Every now and then I enjoy Applebee's! I'm from NJ where I use to go to Applebee's once a week. They were really your neighborhood restaurant experiences for a while. This one happened to be across the street from duck donuts and I was drawn by the fire out front. I'm a sucker for an outdoor fire pit. So I tried it and the place was new and spotless. They offer happy hour after 9pm with half off appetizers and $4 absolute and jacks along with a few other specials that I forgot because it didn't apply to me. The drinks were an decent size for the price and the service was great even to say I could see they were short staffed. Our server was the waitress, the bar tender, and the hostess. All I ordered for dinner was mozzarella sticks which came out hot, crispy and cheesy. My water cup was constantly refilled without asking and we were consistently checked on. Outdoor dining is also offered, with low and high top options. Everyone wore a mask and were constantly wiping down menus and tables. This is my spot to go for a night cap. Never crowded, the outdoor patio is comfy with a fire pit, they're sanitary, have cheap drinks, good service and food! Sunday around 2:15PM. - At least 20 empty tables, but took 10 minutes to be seated; - Host cleaned the table once he sat us (even though he had been gone several minutes before taking us to a table); - 35 minutes to get food from when order was taken; - We had to request utensils when our meals arrived (a steak dinner, a salad, and an order of fries). The fries arrived 10 minutes later; - We received forks but no knives. One order was steak (requiring a knife); - Waitress returned with one knife and it was given to the salad eater; - Salad subbed Ranch for Dijon Mustard. It took 6 requests (each time waitress walked by) to get Ranch; - The Apple Fritter dessert arrived with two small slices of apple on it, unlike the pic on the menu with many, many slices of apple. Came here on a slow Tuesday afternoon. Restaurant is slow, and we get sat at an open table in the bar. Bartender is our server. She's doing everything she possibly can to help us, but also has to fill drink other servers drink orders and deal with carry out...while 4 other employees are gossiping at the host stand, and the manager on duty is tossing his key card at staff like a pro athlete at a strip club. Through no fault of the bartender, it took 10 minutes from dropping off our drinks to when they were actually able to come back and take our order. Food is fine, and really a great value. Atmosphere is fun, and place appears clean. But people in charge need to get a handle on actually managing the staff, as other patrons may not be as forgiving. read more

We decided to go for dinner last night and since it was 6:30 on a Saturday, we called ahead. We were told there was no wait, and only 2 people at the bar that holds 20. Bad sign. We should have taken the hint. I ordered the small portion riblets with fries. My husband got the chicken parmesan. My order came out about 2 minutes before my husbands. Can't the kitchen time meals correctly? We also weren't given salt & pepper or ketchup and had to walk over to a table to steal it from there. The riblets weren't riblets. It was a 1/2 wide 3 inch long slab of grey shredded pork...not at all looking like the picture on the menu of the seared BBQ glazed mini ribs. The first bite had pieces of bone in it, and absolutely no taste of any seasoning or anything even remotely BBQ. The second bite, more bone. The third bite was a pork flavor so foul I couldn't swallow it. So I paid $12.99 for fries. The chicken parmesan breading was mush, nothing like the beautiful crispiness in the picture on the menu. The underlying pasta had absolutely no flavor and the cheese was barely melted. The marinara tasted like the Chef Boyardee my kids eat. The server had to have noticed that we ate nothing when we asked for our check, because we had 2 full plates in front of us, but she said nothing, because her and the other bartender were talking about something on the TV while checking their cell phones. I recommend sticking to the appetizer menu. They aren't special, but are safe. We did 1/2 price apps there on the 4th and tried about 5 different ones. My husband and I have been meaning to make it over to this new Applebee's location because it has a nice fire pit outside, which ironically we didn't choose to sit next to when we visited last Saturday. The Applebee's is located in the new shopping center in White Marsh. The restaurant looked like any other Applebee's, just newer, which is always a bonus! We were greeted by a very nervous and skittish hostess, who almost had me guessing if she was actually meaning to seat us, because she lacked so much confidence in directing us to our table. Our waitress wasn't much better, she honestly moved at snail-pace. She forgot multiple orders/requests throughout the meal (drinks, straws, sauces etc.). Our food took 40 minutes to arrive in a basically empty restaurant (it was 1pm on Saturday). The food was all right. We ordered from the "2 for $25" menu. I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes, half-rack ribs, and garlic green beans. The ribs barely had any meat on them, but the green beans and mashed potatoes were good. I left the restaurant hungry. I was underwhelmed by the entire experience. I'll likely only return in the circumstance that I have plenty of time to wait for food to arrive. Update 4/21/18: My husband and I returned. We did the two for $22 menu; the all American cheeseburger and the honey pepper crispy chicken Mac and cheese. The food was great it came out quickly and was prepared to our liking. The waitress forgot to give me a fork and had a habit of checking in a bit too frequently. DO NOT EAT HERE. The service is horrible. My server E, not going to put her full name to save her the embarrassment, couldn't care less about her job. She was hard to find the whole time, barely refilled our drinks and literally threw one of our plate on the table in passing. It was a drive by serving. Seriously, she was very inattentive and had the demeaner of "I don't care". The food was horrible from appetizers to the main course. The only bright side was that the drinks were good. I tried to talk to the manager but he was too "busy". I sat and watched him handle complaints at 3 other tables before he just disappeared. A table in my section had major problems to the point they returned the whole tables order. It's a very nice looking location and practically brand new. With this location being open for just a few months I don't know how they are failing at so many levels. If you want to sit in a nicely decorated room, then go here.
