I was really looking forward to a nice meal after a day out with my boyfriend, and I enjoy Applebee's food, so we walk in and stand there. There was no host and everyone in the place just practically stared at us like we had 3 heads for 5 minutes. Finally the bartender came over to us and took us to a booth. Now, I love Drake and co., but I don't think playing hip hot hits from the bar is appropriate for a "family restaurant" My boyfriend suggested maybe it was because it was late night... There were about 10 dirty tables piled with dishes everywhere that not one person cleaned up the entire time we were there (About 45 mins). Our waiter was nice enough, but barely attentive and seemed to have some screws loose. Our appetizer took about 15-20 mins to come out. Our steak tasted like old rubber boots. We asked to speak to a manager who said that she was so taken aback because she "never" gets guest complaints. C'mon. I'm a manager at a restaurant that's run a whooole lot better, and we still get at least 2 complaints a day. I asked her if the music is normally like that and she said yup! If your looking for family dining your better off at the McDonalds across the street but if your looking for a spot to have a GOOD drink and club like atmosphere then look no further. The staff need customer service training (no lounging up from team) and the food is so so but I just wanted a really good drink without people stepping on my feet at the Club and guess what? Currently located at the Applebee's in Largo. I came in just to grab a couple of cocktails. There were no seats at the bar. Proceeded to order drinks from the bar. The bartender asked me if I was going to sit at the table. I responded with yes she told me she would let the sever know. 20 minutes later a shift manager told me that someone would take our order another 5 minutes later,the server,after sitting in the corner for 15minutes comes over and is still baffled about who is going to attend to the table. If I could only rate the service I would have given Nijah a 4.5. But the food....that's something else. We started with drinks of course. My husband ordered a fireball whiskey lemonade and I ordered bourbon and berries. Our drinks were great once we figured out which drink was which. We asked the server that delivered our drink ( she wasn't our server) and she had no idea. We pulled another server who was behind the bar and he let us know which drink was which. Our appetizer was boneless bbq wings. They were great. Served hot and in a timely manner. I order a 7oz steak with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. The steak was a weird color and wasn't cooked the way I asked. It tasted like rubber and was very chewy. The mashed potatoes tasted like it had been heated and reheated and heated and reheated and then they added water. Yeah. I asked if I could order something else. I did. While this isn't the best Applebee's it certainly isn't the worst. I mainly come here to get 1/2 off appetizers or when applebees sends me an email for a promotional offer. I live nearby so it's very convenient. SOME of the bartenders are on point while others are barely mediocre. I find the true entertainment in the patrons that are often there. Since the last few reviews have occurred, I hear this place is under new management. Since then, the place has changed for the better! Our waiter was awesome and accommodating for our party of four adults and two kids. The food was very yummy and everyone seemed satisfied. The adults all ordered off the 2 for 20/25 menu. My favorite part of the meal was the boneless wings appetizer with the sweet and spicy Asian glaze. The rest of my meal (ribs, fries, broccoli) was yummy as well. The kids had chicken grillers with BBQ Sauce and applesauce and a corn dog with vanilla yogurt and strawberries. Pretty much all their food was eaten (one son decided to eat my fries so only ate about 90% of his meal because of that). It was my friend's birthday and the waiter gave her a good birthday treatment. The one little thing that I'd knock them for was that the music was pretty loud, but it eventually lowered and I didn't have to say anything. I really like this place. I prefer this Applebee's over the one in Bowie ANYDAY. I've always had friendly servers and prompt service. Although this locations is pretty tight/small, i've never had to wait a super long time to be seated. Don't let the location fool you. Arrived during happy hour. The bar was busy, but the dining area was not. Good service and great food. We had Bacon Cheese burgers and Steak. Terrible experience. It was my first visit. The wait times were entirely too long for dine in. Tables were not being bussed to seat new guests. After 20 minites, we were seated. We immediately gave our server both our drink and food order when she finally came. Then we waited. We talked, caught up with one another, and were really in no rush that Saturday night. But 30 more minutes passed before getting drinks. We told the manager. We were just ready to leave. She said our food was free but I was tired of waiting. I did a carryout out order of the quesadilla burger. I first attempted to call the order in at 2:18PM; however, after the guy answered the phone and asked me to hold, he never returned. So I placed my online order, which said I could pick up at 2:43. When I arrived, the restaurant had maybe 4 tables occupied and 4 people at the bar, so I'm unsure why whoever answered couldn't return to the phone. Furthermore, my order wasn't ready, and I still had to wait another ten minutes. Now 'm beginning to eat back at my job, and my food is missing the burger in half of the quesadilla. The lettuce is old, and most of the burger is in the to-go tray and not on the burger. I must not forget my food looks like it was thrown in the microwave rather than actually cooked in house to order, which again is ironic since I waited nearly 30 minutes for it. read more

We had a good experience here. We went around 1pm in March of '11. It was neither too busy nor too empty. Our server took out orders quickly, and then our food was prepared quickly too. It was delicious- they had a 2/$20 option which fit our budget. I hate to say I forget our waiters name, but he was good. Not too nosy and very polite. This place is the worst Applebee's in existence! The customer service is horrible and the management is no better. I used to frequent this place often until I noticed high turn over in the staff. The level of professionalism is slim to none under this new management! I went in for a drink, sat at the bar..the bartender never acknowledge I was sitting there for about 8 minutes. She was entertaining a group of her own friends that had come to her bar to get a hook up on drinks as one of the seemingly uneducated friends yelled loudly, as if that is ok for the bartendar to do. Once she did acknowledge me I told her I would rather just sit a one of the bar tables, she said ok hour server will be right over. I sat myself at one of the bar tables and proceeded to wait 10 minutes for a server to come take my order. Then she brought half my order and not my entire order when she came back. I ordered a lemonade and house margarita..she brought the margarita and not the lemonade. I waited another 15 minutes, she never comes back with the lemonade. I then go to the bar and ask the bartendar to see a manager. I go back to my table and watched the bartendar to see if she was going to get a manager or not. I waited another 10 minutes, still no manager. I then got up walked to then kitchen and yelled "Is there a manager in this place or do y'all just run it like wild animals"?? Come to find out there was a group of individuals huddled up not far from the kitchen and one of them just happen to be the manager. Who by the way was within ear shot of the bartender. The bartender never told the manager I needed to see her! I explained my frustrations to the manager and she said well I don't know what to say. I said don't worry..u don't have to say anything, I'll just go to Outback which is 5 minutes away & proceeded to walk out. The manager Sharina Mitchell then proceeded to run behind me demanding I pay for the $4 margarita I ordered even though my entire experience was horrible and my order was wrong! She threatened to call the police over a $4 margarita that should have been comped to me because of the shotty service I was provided. I kindly threw Sharona $4 on the floor for her to pick up, just like trash! I will never go to this Applebee's again and I plan to start a petition tonhabe them closed down and replaced with a more upscale professional restaurant that offers good service and care about the quality of work their employees put out as a representation of their poor business practices! After my family was seated and given ample time to read menus, we observed not one but two different wait staff visit the table next to us, having casual conversation, making sure their meals were adequate, while we still awaited a visit to get beverages. WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I went to Applebee's Largo last night for our weekly Karaoke night and was completely appalled. I was disgusted at how my table was treated. The service was terrible, the food was subpar, and the drinks were watered down. However that wasn't even the worst part. After sending my drink back, the "manager" returned to my table with the SAME drink letting me know that the bartender JUST made this drink--as if I would change my mind on how watered down it was. My friend received his drink and had the same problem and told our waitress, who proceeded to yell at us saying "didn't I just ask you if you wanted to send it back when I was just here, I JUST ASKED YOU". She says all of this while having very suggestive hand and body motions. I then spoke to the manager about the evening and explained to him that I will not be paying for this visit. Instead of asking me what was wrong he proceeded to storm off in a rage. As I proceeded to leave the establishment I was confronted and told to pay my bill by our server, when I refused she told me that she would "beat my ass" YELLING across the restaurant at me calling me a "broke bitch". The situation then escalated when she charged at me and my group and called two of my friends "fucking faggots"--yelling "get the fuck out of here faggot". The entire time the "manager" is just standing in the room with his arms crossed SILENT, no intervening, no problem solving--silence. I refuse to support an establishment that is so disrespectful, unprofessional, rude, and nasty. I have NEVER in my life had an experience with a server like the one I had last evening. So I know that this site is really to glorify the mom and pop's restaurateurs of the world, but I have to give it to America's Neighborhood grill for really stepping up its menu options. The weight watchers menu is excellent and the portions really help with America's expanding waistlines. My friend selected the grilled chipotle-lime shrimp and black bean corn salsa tossed with lime juice and chopped cilantro, served on a mix of grilled zucchini, marinated tomatoes, onions & red peppers with steamed white rice. She actually welcomed the smaller portion of rice. I ordered the most Amazing salad I ve had in quite some time. The fiesta chopped salad with its black bean corn salsa, roasted red peppers & onions, tortilla strips, white cheddar and spicy jalapeño dressing, chimichurri glazed grilled chicken. I ordered a side of shrimp just for variety. The spicy jalapeno dressing is simply divine. I was so enthralled by this salad that I did not come up for air until half had somehow disappeared from my plate lol. I had to tell everyone about how good it was and because I just wanted someone to experience what I already knew to be true I brought along my friend. I must say I've had bad experiences here in the past. My recent experience was excellent. The food was great, it could have come out faster but it was ok. I would think being one of three customers in the restaurant you shouldnt have to wait long for food, but it was cooked to perfection so I didnt mind the wait. The chicken fajita roll up was delicious. Big and tasty, not lacking anything. The Bowie location served the roll up with pretty much just bread and it was cold. Our carry-out desserts were delicious too. I now prefer this location over the bowie location. I think this location is under new management and the service and food has improved greatly. read more
