I don't get what's up with all the hater reviews on here; I guess they're just jealous. Truth be told, me and my wife's experience couldn't have been more disparate from what is shamelessly written in previous reviews. Applebee's was the place -- sight unseen -- where we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Considering that I would never win the 'Husband of the Year' award, I really needed these folks to come through and help me out. And did they ever. First, I made reservations here weeks in advance. Whatever system they use is clutch, because I received a number of automated messages about my evening and also was afforded the opportunity to text back and let them know that I wanted to impress the hell out of my bride. It all worked like a dream. We showed a little early and sat in the corner booth, with its comfortable lounge-style seating and a gorgeous view of the mountains. They were staffed by an attentive server who made sure that the wine and beer flowed ... and anything else we wanted. Outstanding. As previously stated, we were seated (as requested) in a corner with a view. Wow. My wife was so enamored with the setting. Admittedly, I was too. We've had tables with a view in a number of American cities, but this one took the cake. After all, it's the climate! And when you have such a view -and- a staff that is truly interested in helping you make memories ... there's nothing better. Though the food here became secondary, it was fabulous. The Shrimp N' Parmesan Sirloin was succulent -- even my wife (a non-meat eater) tasted a sample and was won over. The beef was melty. The veggies were crisp tender. But forget about all of that. Want to impress your date? The Perfect Margarita is available by the bottle here, and it works like a charm. But truly, it's the service and atmosphere that impresses. I have been coming to this applebees for a while. I have had many different servers. I have been here on bad days and on good days. You can tell when the servers don't have enough training, or when a table is being pawned off on a different server for whatever reason. The last time I came in I had Bobbi as our server. She is new from the time before when I came in. She was polite and made sure we were completely taken care of. I read the review that was posted about her and that is not the server we had. Ahhhhh.....now I remember why I wasn't too thrilled after my first visit. Today my husband and I came in for dinner. It was before rush hour. Our waitress got our order wrong and i thought their cook gone fishing. Being in food industries myself you always take an opportunities for up sales, not in this case. I am so disappointed. I ordered my food well over an hour ago. Long before closing. I then waited in the parking lot. Then they brought my food out, but it was missing half of the meal. They then offered to give me the rest of the food "tomorrow". I explained that I had been waiting well over an hour and they i didn't particularly want half of the meal today and half tomorrow. The poor car side server then had to go back to the manager who initially sent her out with that inane offer. A few minutes later, she came back out to say that said manager was going to cook up the rest of the meal. They claimed it would be 4 minutes. 12 minutes later, they brought fries without the sauce I ordered in the first place and then reminded them of when I arrived. Now my seafood is cold, the manager never showed their face, and no one even apologised. I then got home and discovered that the dipping sauce I asked for (3 times) was not there. I called and asked for the manager who did absolutely nothing. NOTHING. Not even an offer to let me drive back to the restaurant to get what I ordered. I will not be coming back. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. read more

(I hate writing bad reviews) After having a terrible experience at a local sub-Mexican restaurant, I decided to stop by Applebees Grants Pass to have a quick dinner. Sat in the bar and the service was excellent. Ordered the Southwest Lime Grilled chicken bowl. Sounded great on paper but the execution of said bowl did not happen as intended or pictured. First off, there were rotten greens throughout the bowl that made the most of the dish taste disgusting. The chicken was processed and formed breast meat (?), I think. There was also something meant to resemble guacamole that didn't taste right.The only part of the assembled bowl that was semi-enjoyable was the rice. After showing the bartender the turned greens, he offered another dish but I declined. He was happy to provide a gift card for a entree at an Applebees in the vicinity of the Grant's Pass location. TYVM. If Applebees were just a bar, this rating would be 3.5 to 4 stars based on the service, unfortunately though they are a restaurant & bar and their food quality matters. We like Applebee's and I usually order the krispy chicken salad which is tasty & plentiful. Wanted to try something different but I was sooo disappointed with the Shrimp, Chicken with mushrooms and onions. The photo on the menu looked delicious. Not so with the order. There were 4 tiny shrimps, 2 slices off a mushrooms, 1/2 of a thinly sliced onion and the chicken breast was overcooked and burnt. Told the waitress and she said, "oh you were supposed to get 6. I can get you more mushrooms...do you want 6 or 12?" "I'll have 12." At no time did she say, It would cost an additional $5.99. I wouldn't mind paying extra for the shrimp but prefer to know in advance rather see it on the check. I will say that for $15.49 this serving was more like a $10 meal because it was so minimal. Lunch was Caesar salad w chicken, it was awful, chicken was dry, lettuce was very wilted w so much dressing. The shrimp in the stir fry was yuck! like they werent cooked, and the rice was cold nachos were ok but very little chicken and dish was not very flavorful Service was adequate, not overly attentive had to wait for help when we needed him. So I must admit , I have not been here in a while because service and food always seemed like it came out the garbage. However, Amber was an awesome waitress, Jimmy the GM, served us and made sure my food was fresh! My food came out back to back and didn't have time to finish the salad! This can be a good and bad thing, however, everything was fresh and on point! Very unexpected since I'm used to old food, under cooked meat, rude waiters and waitresses, dirty utensils and no one not giving a f¥€k. Johnny, the chef even brought out my main dish. You have to understand that this review is about an experience at the end of having driven for 6 hours straight without eating. As you can imagine hunger distorts perception. Having said that I figured the salads would be the safest bets when coming to an Applebee's and my decision was also bolstered by the fact that you pretty much generally eat like crap when stopping for food during a long road trip. So a salad it was. Trying to find something a little healthier and safe on an Applebee's menu. My companion also decided on a salad. The first problem. There was plastic wrap with a sticker on it still in her salad. It had the name of the salad and a "Best by:" date. We were too hungry to say anything about the fact that this was mixed in with the salad as well as the fact the date was about 2 days in the past. The second was a mistake on my own part. I guess I didn't read the description properly and for some reason though the shrimp salad was with bacon (bacon bits in my head) and the dressing would be a vinaigrette. So when it came out I was surprised to find a hot container. It had hot bacon vinaigrette! Don't get me wrong, I normally go nuts for anything with bacon in it, but you gotta give it up to Applebee's for turning what could have been perceived as a semi healthy dish into "no way in hell this is going to be good". Unfortunately the mixture of those two is just a bad combo. Stay away. The waitress though, she was very nice and friendly and came by constantly topping up my drink. Staff doesn't acknowledge you when you walk in despite making eye contact multiple times. Dashers wait 15+ minutes past pickup time for orders every time. Just terrible service. read more

First time I did curbside ordering (last summer). Sat in my car for 15 minutes, no one came out. Went into the restaurant, they were a bit busy but I had placed my order on line and waited the 30 minutes I was told to and another 15 waiting for them to bring it out. The hostess went to check on my order, came back with it and mentioned it had been sitting there at least 20 minutes. I asked to speak with the manager and when I explained what happened he said, "Well, we're busy and shorthanded." No apology, nothing. Fast forward to last night, my daughter (who has also had a previous, separate, bad experience) and I decided to give it another try. We ordered 2 appetizers because they have the "Build Your Own" for 2 for $10.99. We didnt specify that's what we wanted (yes, our mistske) but every restaurant I've been to, the waitress mentions the special and asks if that's what we want. So, we were charged $8.99 and $9.99 for appetizers. We had to ask for utensils when we got the appetizers. Usually when you have appetizers you each get a small plate to put the appetizers on. No plates. My daughter ordered mac n cheese with chicken tenders. She said it was ok. Not hot. I ordered the shrimp with 6 oz. steak. Nothing was hot-just warm. The steak was decent, maybe because of the A-1? The fried shrimp was blah, not really any flavor and not crispy. The grilled shrimp was supposed to have BBQ sauce on it, it was like there was one drop on each piece. The onion straws were cold and not crispy. The waitress seemed like she could care less about her job. My daughter put her empty glass at the edge of the table and the waitress just left the A-1 and didn't ask if a refill was needed. It wasnt until she came back with water that she asked if my daughter wanted a refill. She never asked me. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. Worse $80 I've ever spent. We had lunch here today after reading a very poor review about Applebee's. We were greeted with a smile, promptly seated and our server quickly appeared to take drink orders. Our food order didn't take long to arrive and it was sizzling hot. People checked back to see if we needed anything and a young man came over to refill our iced tea without boing summoned. Tonight we decided to eat at Applebee's. We had 5 in our party including my disabled father. I ran up to the door to make certain they were still open since we know they are struggling with staff shortage issues, and it takes a lot to get my father out of the car and inside. The typed sign read they were open from 12-8, so as we stood waiting to be seated, what appeared to be a server asked if we were picking up a to-go order as they "were done seating people". While I understand there is a staffing shortage, it was 7:30 p.m. and the server was quite blunt, and didn't even offer a "sorry". Seems to me that if they stopped seating people at a certain time, they may want to state that on the sign as well. read more

They have had difficulties the past few years but have gotten better. We went to Applebees on Valentine's and despite being over crowded, they were able to accommodate a party of four, with both food and drinks. My wife and I got ourselves the Bourbon street chicken with shrimp. The bourbon sauce itself was nice, their version reminded me of the mesquite bbq flavor in other places. The degree of spice was mild. I would compare it to the spice level of mild chunky salsa I get at Walmart and really like. Otherwise, the dish featured red potatoes, cut into cubes. Sauteed mushrooms thinly sliced, grilled onions, bite size, and the chicken itself, delightfully flavorful, soft, without being fatty. The shrimp was also flavorful, without the breading, just the way I like it, when you can feel the pure shrimp taste. Since my wife and I both got the same dish, we qualified for 2 for 20, and got ourselves a side dish as part of the bargain. Man, those mozzarella sticks were brilliant. Their breading was appropriately sweet, and the cheese inside well melted. Our friend got himself their Thai Shrimp salad, but was not pleased with how the sweetness of it was less the the spice level. He was extremely pleased with their onion soup though. My portion was moderately sized, it would satisfy most people and even I got almost full, I eat more like a competitive eater than the average civilian though:) The dessert section was a little limited, only four options, mainly brownies with ice cream, which seems wrong for the weather in my opinion. Their alcohol drinks were superb though. The monthly special was bahamama, you can check it out at the pictures I uploaded for this review. It was only a dollar per drink! Naturally, after three, even the Russian in me could feel the buzz:) 30 bucks pretty much covered our dinner for two, with the meal, the drinks and the tips. Called in a order thirty minutes ahead got there and had to wait another thirty minutes just for them to find my order. Food was terrible. Steak was ordered medium rare and was cooked to death. I feel bad for the cow for it being murdered twice. Broccoli looked like someone jerked off in it. Mashed potatoes were scraped off a pot that was clearly sitting for a couple hours. Went in tonight January 3 2018 for dinner. Arrived about 5:30. This was not our first time. Usually we get a decent meal. I ordered the sirloin steak stir fry and asked for it to be cooked medium. The server said they cook it that way. When the food came out the meat looked a bit over done. I cut into a piece and it was so tough it almost would not cut. I put a piece in my mouth and had to spit it out. I could not swallow it. My wife came to the rescue and swapped her steak with mine. She said how good the flavor was but did not eat more than half of the portion. Bottom line, this was our worst experience with this Applebees and we will go back. If the quality is not better next time it will be the last time in there. read more

This Applebee is so bad. They are bad about refilling drinks or not asking for what kind of drink you want. They end up running and running. If they would just ask first they wouldn't run so much. They didnt bring any marinara sauce for my cheese sticks. No sauce for my niece and daughters chicken strips and no sauce for my other nieces shrimp. My family and I went to sit down. We waited 10 minutes before the waitress came to the table and gave us a glass of water and a menu. There were no other customers in the restaurant. The staff were standing around talking and laughing. We were just about to leave and the waitress finally showed up. I ordered a bowl of soup and it was so salty I had to send it back. As we were leaving we saw a help wanted sign. I seriously think management needs to watch their staff more closely and a better management in the quality of their food. read more

We were not greeted when we got there even though there was some one at the host both. The appetizer came with out plates. It took over 15 minutes of me actively trying to flag somebody down before we were able to get a plate. We had ordered drinks at the beginning which came with the appetizer and were never refilled. The meal came and it was thrown in the table never asked us if we wanted anything else and nobody ever came back. We had to borrow somebody else's menu to add up the total as nobody ever came back to give us a bill and we walked out the door. I had to choke down my food with nothing to drink. The food on the other hand was really good but with the service as bad as it was and not having anything to drink while I was choking it down made it a miserable experience. There was a moderate amount of customers there and plenty of staff to help but quite a few people were just wandering around that could have helped at any time. We were in the bar area and some woman came out and was changing all the TV channels and I was standing up waving my arm at her and she completely ignored me as she went from TV to TV changing channels and then went to the back. Unfortunately as restaurant after restaurant closes the service at the ones that are left open keeps getting worse and worse but they don't care because there is is few choices so we are stuck going there. read more

What can I say other than terrible and very overpriced. I had a club sandwich ($12.95) that was mostly lettuce piled high to make the sandwich look big. The chicken and ham was so thin you could hold it up to the light and see through it. We were there supposedly at happy hour and our server suggested a margarita which my wife ordered. When we got the bill the (happy hour) margarita was $8.95. We were not happy. A salad, a club sandwich, small bowl of soup, margarita and a beer(Coors light) was a total of over $37.00 plus tip. Fortunately our server gave us the 10% senior discount. This is the first time in approx four years we tried Applebee's. We will not return. For a good sandwich try the new place down the street.
