I went here for dinner last night with my 3 children mind you it was a Thursday so not extremely busy! We were seated rather quickly and we ordered our app and it came and the portions have seems to become alot smaller and the prices alot bigger. Anyway, my children received their entrees and so did I. I noticed on top of my Chicken and pasta Alfredo were chopped ICE COLD tomatoes. I picked them off because there was ALOT of them and I began to cut up my chicken which in turn was ICE COLD. I told the waitress that I wanted a new plate of food which she did bring me. When she brought it out you could tell there was no cheese on the pasta and chicken ITS CALLED THREE CHEESE CHICKEN PENNE for a reason. The noodles were over cooked and there was VERY VERY light sauce. I ate a couple bites and said screw it this is gross. I told the waitress and she asked if I wanted something else I said "No, at this point it would be stupid if both THESE plates were wrong and or gross" So all in all the kids enjoyed their food I went without dinner and I wasn't happy with the food. This Applebees isn't perfect but I feel like I must defend it from some of the negative reviews it's getting. First off: Everyone should know it's applebees. I got my food but was kind of disappointed because I ordered the appetizer platter and instead of being in one large container like the appetizer platter normally is I received each of my items in their own styrofoam container which left me with 3 large bags to carry out, it included the other peoples food too. I was embarrassed and annoyed at the same time. When I was finally able to eat the food, it didn't seem to spectacular. Definitely nothing to write home to mom about. I have had better from this Applebees and you would think for not being busy this night the food would have been given a little more TLC.""" Soooo...food was on time, but that wasn't good enough. Well it was disappointing, no lettuce, tomato or mayo on the so called classic burger. The frys were a bit gross but edible. Berry sangia taste like coolaid and the Martin's didn't have a top shelf option so you can imagine. The nachos shredded beef were pub worthy but stay clear of the gross potstickers. Worst local resturant so far. Terrible service which means terrible management. 20 minutes to get ice water and milk. I finally walked up to bar to get my own drinks! Dont go with little kids! The managers there are clueless. There was only about 15 people in whole resturant and nobody at the bar. My wife actually said she wanted to leave. That is a FIRST. I suppose this is your average Applebee's. I've eaten here a few times and each time, either the food is bland or the portion is smaller than expected. It's not one of my favorite places. I probably eat here once a year. My most recent visit was 1/4/13. My husband and I had lunch. The item we enjoyed the most was the Brew Pub Pretzels & Beer Cheese Dip - ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! I've been wanting this appetizer AGAIN ever since I ate it that day! I may have to order it as carry-out one day this week...soooooooo yummy! As for my entree, I wasn't in an adventurous mood, so I got the fish and chips. The cole slaw just doesn't taste good in my opinion - just too dry. But I'd had the fish and fries before, so I knew I'd like it. My husband, on the other hand, was adventurous and tried the Zesty Roma Chicken & Shrimp - IT WASN'T ZESTY AT ALL. The sauce was VERY BLAND. Hubby asked for hot sauce to give it some kick (there was no "kick" as described in the menu). Note: Later the waitress said it depends on who makes the sauce that day, so I guess we chose the wrong day...wish we'd been there when the ZESTY chef was making the sauce. :) read more

Ive been to this particular Applebees a few times and its the same everytime. The service is terrible. The wait staff is friendly, but it takes a good 20 to 30 min to even get your drink order in. Expect to wait another 30 min more for your food to come out once ordered. When you look around you see most of the staff goofing off and chatting with each other rather than serving their tables and staying on top of things. The food is just OK in my opinion and is rarely hot when it finally gets to your table. Save yourself the trip and time and eat elsewhere. read more

Arrived at 6pm. Left at 8pm. On a Sunday evening. 6 people in party. Took approximately 12-15 minutes for someone to take our order. Another 12 minutes or so to get drinks. About 20 minutes to get one couples appetizers. Another 10 or so to get the others. Refills took at least 5 minutes to get after they were requested. Salads came with meals. One with NO dressing. Dined there this week. Very slow service. Adjacent tables were not cleaned. Food was disappointing and not cooked as requested.

First of all the food was terrible. I asked for no tomatoes and my order had tomatoes all over it. Chicken was cold romain was rotten. The manager was eating while serving, the waitress was great. But another waitress was rude and gave me many nasty looks and was very profane. The manager also gave me a fake number for corporate. Needless to say I left without paying. I advise everyone to stay as far away from that horrible place as possible. I have never written a review. First one & I think needed. I have never been a fan of this place-the food to me is like a hair above fast food. But I figured I'd give it another shot. Fourth and last time I will ever walk into one of these crap holes. Ok on a Monday around 1:30 pm not busy, but you would think so as long as it took somone to come to the table-oh after we are seated by an old lady that shouldn't be doing the job because she was obviously lost. Took twenty minutes to get a draft beer after I ordered it. Never asked my wife if she wanted a refill on her tea...the food which was a turkey sandwich sand some nachos-NOT a steak or anything that should take a long time took twenty five minutes to get of course by then I was in need of another beer that I never seen because no one came back. I stopped somone and asked for a beer and again nothing-until we were just about done with our lunch somone else came and asked if I was waiting on a beer--duh!!! Not now we are ready for the check. All of the staff that were supposedly taking care of us sucked very badly...they were slow, appeared lazy and non caring. I will never set foot in this or any Applebee's after today. But especially the one on Front Royal. And I feel sorry for the people that decide to make this their lunch or dinner spot. The one beer that I was lucky enough to get was good and cold...that's the only reason for one star-actually a monkey could pull a tap and get me a beer so they don't even deserve that. Step up your quality on your microwaved food & replace your staff with some eager caring professionals who belong in that position and it would be better. So we have been going there for years. It's hit or miss as far as food and service. There have been times ants have been on our table and flies were all around us, but we go back eventually because there are so few places to eat in this town and it might be ok the next time. Last night, our waitress was actually someone we know from the restaurant. Over the years, we have gotten used to her. She used to refuse me lemons in my iced tea because I didn't dunk them in the tea. I now dunk them for fear she won't let me have lemons. Anyway, last night the flies were bad around the table and our faces, but more than that, two things happened that upset me. I even wrote the person on the receipt to contact, but have not been contacted back. No apology. No acknowledgement. Nothing. So the first thing was our waitress asked me to pay by credit card at that at the table machine and complete the survey. She said she would help me. She sat down on my purse on the bench and supervised the swiping of the card and the tip. I am usually a good tipper, but found it uncomfortable her making sure I tipped ok. Then, she took the machine and quickly completed the survey. Her excellent stars were from her. I most likely would have given her decent stars, but she took that opportunity to do that for herself. She then bolted up and left to print my receipt. I guess she felt she needed good stars for her job or for a raise. I don't know, but I didn't like that one bit. Another waitress did that same thing before. And about a year ago, another placed the tip at 25 percent and I was obligated to go along, as she was right there. Anyway, back to the second thing that happened yesterday. The people behind me were going to order steak. I heard the waitress say something to which they replied "oh really." I ate steak. What was wrong with it? The comments I heard worried me. The people behind me ordered chicken. I think it will be a long while before I go back, if I do. Not sure. Like I said, not a lot of places to eat out here. But if they know I wrote negative things, I would be afraid to go back. And we have had good times there in the past and sometimes, the food and service is really good. It's hit or miss. read more

Absolutely horrible!!! Over and hour and a half to get food which was barely warm, you could tell it had been sitting in the warning area for awhile let alone very sloppy. Overall the food was good, except as usual in most restaurants the reuben was no more than corned beef on bread with a moderate dressing that did not remotely resemble what you would expect on a traditional Reuben. After ordering a tall beer I was brought a small which wasn't a big deal until they took my dirty glass 15 mins later and filled it half way up with what im assuming was the rest of my tall beer? Our business ordered lunch online and the boxes to be populated asked what type of vehicle and what color. When I arrived and parked in the to-go parking, I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the food. This is after waiting 15 minutes before leaving and it taking 15 minutes to get there. About 4 employees entered and exited the to go door. Not one approached me to inform me that they did not have curb side service during that time frame. It was when I called in to the restaurant to inform them my boss was wondering how much longer it was going to take that I was informed. I then enter the building and go to the bar as instructed, the bartender never once looks my way. (They were not that busy) After a while of standing there a waitress approaches me and asks if the bag of food on the bar was mine, I replied I'm not sure. She said well if you already paid just sign your receipt and if you have questions see the bartender. How is anyone to know that! Customer Service seems none existent anymore! read more
