When we told the server, she offered to bring a cup of warm sauce to pour over the cold???the nachos had fake cheese sauce, old pico and nasty grey beef. Food is okay - no complaints there but I didn't notice the ceiling until after I ordered. It's not just one vent it's every where on the ceiling.... How can you let an establishment get this dirty? Ordered through doordash. Onion rings were very good but was missing the sauce. The $20 Ceasar chicken salad was the size of a side and had so much dressing it was inedible. I was beyond disappointed with every aspect of my last meal! It was as if they didn't care at all since nothing was acceptable! $75 spent or actually wasted! The alfredo was disgusting! If you're going to spend that much you may as well spend it at Olive Garden and get pasta you know will taste good! They somehow managed to make the green beans disgusting as well. The food (tonight at least) was a vast improvement over previous attempts and I've decided to give three extra stars and rate the chef as good. Had the chicken fajitas and bite size brownie. My colleague had the wings and an order of nachos... All in all, great! Miranda behind the bar was friendly, attentive and efficient. Good atmosphere again. See... Came here a couple times for dinner, mostly because of the drink specials they were having. Great food for the most part, though the potatoes that come with the Bourbon Street Chicken leave a lot to be desired. Dry and not much flavor to speak of. I'm not sure how applebees is 1) still in business, especially in Chambersburg and 2) still always busy? Wait times are always horrible, service staff is hit or miss every time, food is always dissapointing, and it's for sure NOT eating good in the neighborhood. I got a steak and shrimp there about seven months back, had to send it back twice because gristle/over cooked, and the third time I just asked for something else. As said before, why waste too much money on mediocre food when you can get the same quality or better at McDonalds for cheaper. read more

Why is this place so busy?!? On my recent visit, there was a wait. It was not an unusually long wait, but since I could see open tables and the waiting area is small and crowded, it was frustrating. I waddled in miserably pregnant, and the host wanted to seat us at the bar. Luckily, another employee intervened and got us a booth so I didn't have to balance my wide, aching backside on a tiny stool. Once we were seated, we were served by a waiter who didn't know the menu, wasn't on top of refills, and didn't seem to care that he brought our appetizer with the meal. He also brought us only half the appetizer, told us they burned the other half and were remaking it, and then brought us the other half when we were almost done eating--still burned. The broccoli in my stir fry? Burned. My husband's burger? Burned (but luckily he likes it that way). The "garlic bread" was stale and did not taste like garlic at all. The sauces are too salty. My mashed potatoes were thin like cream of wheat and tasted like they had accidentally mixed a little Duncan Hines cake mix into them. I know that sounds oddly specific, but that's how it tasted. We were also really annoyed by the loudness here. Somebody kept turning up the volume on random songs, so that every third song or so, the baby sitting behind us would get startled by the sudden blast of music and start crying. The poor mother would have to take the baby outside and walk her around a bit, then come in and try to finish eating, only to have her baby startled again a little bit later. Some of the patrons here thought it was karaoke night, so unfortunately, a screaming infant was not the worst sound I heard during my meal. Nobody on the staff seemed to care or feel like they should do anything about the noise level and the patrons who didn't appreciate it (by my estimate, about half the restaurant). Considering the plethora of dining options around here, I can't see myself returning on future visits to Chambersburg. I keep looking for a reason to give this place a second star since it's not like I got salmonella or found a bug in my water or anything, but they really just fell short in every regard. read more

Curbside service. Love it!! I get my food without the headaches of slow service, or unfilled drinks. They have done well getting my order right, and it is fresh and still warm when I get home. My inside eating experience is mixed. My food is consitantly good, but service can be good or bad, and long waits for food. As a note to this particuliar restaurant, please have your servers refill empty drinks, there is nothing more frustrating than eating dinner with no drink and watching your server flirt at the bar, chat with her friends, and do all she can to avoid your eye until it is tip time. We were seated and, after ten minutes of not being recognized by a server, had to ask to get one. (By the way, there were 5 other tables occupied in the whole restaurant with 1 patron at the bar. We counted at least 3 servers, a host, and manager). We ordered our drinks (which I asked for a draft beer and got a bottle) then ordered our food. I ordered the appetizer sampler and a house salad, my hubby a chicken sandwich, and my daughter a pizza. Everything came in a reasonable amount of time... except the appetizer. My salad came with tomatoes (which I requested without) and the wrong dressing. By the time I finished my salad and my family was half finished with their meals, my husband had to ask where the appetizer was. It showed up a minute later after CLEARLY having been under heat lamps for an extended period of time. It was seriously inedible. I called this to the server's attention and asked for boxes for my family's leftovers but after ANOTHER 10 minutes of NO ONE coming back to us, we decided to just leave with my husband approaching the bar to pay the bill. I spoke to the manager as we were leaving and told him about all of the issues. He immediately blamed the server saying that he was having issues with them all night. He threw them RIGHT under the bus. If the server was having issues all night, why didn't he check on any of the tables AT ALL (especially that server's)? Furthermore, why wouldn't he be acting as support for a struggling server rather than hang them out to dry? We left without our leftovers and, when the manager wanted to give me gift cards to come back, I said that wasn't necessary. I've never been so ignored and disappointed with a dining experience in my life. read more

Don't order a baked potato! I have tried 3 different times. One was cold to the touch other 2 warm, but not cooked. When I order an appetizer, I expect it to come out before my meal. Not the case this time. Also was missing an item. We brought it to waitress's attention when she finally checked on us and asked for it to be boxed to go. Came out as if we were going to eat it there. My steak was not cooked as requested but it wasn't dry or burnt so I ate it. Had "chunks" of parmesan sauce that wasn't melted laying on my plate. Waitress checked on us when we were all but finished and commented on my steak not being cooked right. Not her fault kitchen staff seems to be inadequate or not care about the food they serve. Terrible curb side to go. Placed online order around 2 for a 5:30 pick up. Arrived at 5:20. Sent "here" text and at 6:05 I still didn't have my order. Went inside to speak to a manager and was offered a reason of several on line orders. The actual restaurant wasn't very busy at all. Maybe 10 tables of diners. French fries missing from one entree and the queso dip was only about a 1/4 of the container full. Had hoped when this Applebee's reopened it would be better service but it doesn't appear to be the case. read more

I love the fact they have lots of selection for the 2 for $20 or u can upgrade for the 2 for $25. They have the best mashed potatoes and u have to try the fully loaded one. There is barely room for two people in the entry-way and it has been crowded every time we've tried it. You have to jostle and side-step... it isn't fun. Food wasn't good, neither was the service. Our wait at this Applebees on a Friday night was 15 minutes. We sat down and were waited on soon after. The drinks and food came promptly. We had the shrimp combo, chicken tenders, bourbon sizzler, and steak and nobody had complaints. The server provided good service and was accommodating. read more

Always dissatisfied with this place! Years ago, it was a great place to eat...not anymore! We went here a few months ago, dined in and had terrible service, not to mention the food. We decided to try again tonight with their carside. Food was on time and hot, awesome, BUT they charged my card 2 times for the food. I sent my husband in to get it taken care of, but they "couldn't do anything" until they closed out their registers. Fine. On our way home, they charged my card a third time. We called to let them know that we would need our money back. A "2 for $20" deal ended up costing me $60...the manager said there was nothing he could do until they closed the register. Understandable. I opened a French onion soup I had ordered, took two bites and got a long black hair. Disgusting, but, (again) understandable. Let it slide, but my husband called in again- just to let them know, maybe someone wasn't wearing a hair net. I then bit into my burger (which I had ordered "no pink") ...and it was no pink, because it was red! The burger was literally browned on the outside and RAW on the inside. We drove back to the store, talked to the manager and $25 was put back on my card... Will be taking this higher up. Very disappointed, not even deserving of this one star! Ps, we went to The Cottage and got, essentially, the same meal for about $6 less, more food included and none of this bull! read more

Okay, so the food was mediocre and the the service, while friendly, became very slow about mid-way through our visit. But I'm bumping this from a 3 star review to 4 stars because one employee went way out of her way to find our credit card after my husband inexplicably flung it out of the payment sleeve while walking from our table to the bar to pay (because it was taking so long). Basically, the credit card defied gravity and physics and was launched behind a booth. We were looking on the other side of the isle under the tables for it, and this sweet young lady spent at least 15 minutes scouring the restaurant for our credit card. Food was terrible. Not worth the price. The boneless wings we had as an appetizer barely had any sauce on it. My chicken wrap was soggy and my boyfriend's burger was bland topped with wilting lettuce. Also the service was really slow even though there were only about 6 people in the place at the time. Now I know why. The only saving grace was our server who was very nice and attentive. She was the only reason that we didn't walk out. The most disgusting meal I have had all year. The service was just as horrible. Several people ordered soup but only one bowl was served. An order of meatballs looked like they had been sitting all night and they tasted worse if you could get past the hardened exterior shell. You know how salmon is supposed to be pink - well not at Applebees, they do their salmon ash colored - super yummy - NOT!!!!! The server must've been aware of the awful food she was serving because we only saw her when she came to collect payment, normally they bug you every five minutes. Went on valentines day because there was no wait. After going we realized why. The food was completely terrible. Steaks tough and over cooked. They shrunk the salads which was a great idea considering they were soggy along with broccoli. Server was ok but didnt make up for nasty food. This place used to be good. I had heard horrible reviews of this certain Applebees, but thought I would give it a try. Boy was I wrong to do so. Thankfully we knew what we wanted in advance, the 2 for $20, and were able to order quickly. The place was obnoxiously loud with chatter that seemed to battle the loud pop music blaring above. Our waitress would check in on us as she ran by giving no time for actual feedback. They seemed to swamped to serve us. No wonder I received a raspberry iced tea when I ordered a lemonade. We received our queso blanco appetizer in a decent amount of time, although it seemed to have been waiting for us longer then wanted. The cheese had formed a skim layer over top, and the chips were rather stale. Once our meals arrived we were less then happy. Halfway through our meal I tried a bite of my husbands steak at which point I was baffled by how he had consumed most of it already. It tasted as if it had been soaked in the dead sea for a month. Overall I was appalled by the poor service and quality of food at this particular Applebees. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Applebees, I just refuse to ever return to this specific one. read more
