Honestly, I wasn't going to write a review because I feel most times it just comes at the expense of overworked staff getting scolded instead of upper management, but this was necessary-- This was the worst experience I have had dining in a very long time. Firstly, extremely understaffed and can tell the employees are miserable. Our waiter was unfriendly and very robotic. Clearly stressed managing multiple tables, this should not be an issue in a larger franchise like this. Second, Our food was atrocious. The boneless wings were the only manageable thing to get down. We ordered the chicken tenders and classic burger and both were sub par for what we paid. The food is lazy, downright disgusting at times and not worth the money. Our silverware was served to us with food particles from previous meals and clearly unsanitary. This is purely disgusting. Shame on the owner for allowing this. We went to Applebee's around 9:30 pm mainly for the meltdown cake, which we love. The staff at the front were friendly, and service was okay, though our waiter forgot a straw for the kid's drink. My soup had something in it I couldn't chew, and while they gave a small discount, I never got an explanation. One of the steaks was overcooked and very dry, though the rest of my family's meals were fine. The dessert was excellent as always, but overall the food quality was disappointing. We came into this location about 2 hours before closing from a church function. I quite honestly expected attitude from the employees. But quite the contrary, we were met by the host/server Nicholas (Nick). He was warm, inviting, professional, super friendly and welcoming. Nick had a fantastic attitude throughout our entire stay. Along with the 2 other gentlemen that helped bring out the food they were great. In a time in our country both online and face to face has been horrible this was a most pleasant surprise. Went here yesterday at our young sons' request after schlepping them boys to Home Depot. What a regret. The food was mediocre at best. Our server was fine; working as fast and hard as she could. But the food.. My salad was full of wilted lettuce and the chicken was served cold (it's not supposed to be). The food my husband and boys received was basic. Nothing great, nothing bad. The food was great, when we ordered the burger they accidentally gave us the chicken tenders we told them that they made a mistake and they were super apologetic and got the burger to us as soon as possible. Time after time after time, they disappoint. Even their scripted, non changing, boring menu can't be achieved. We decided to just order a couple appetizers and it is a shame that they are so lazy and so used to pushing crap food that we ended up with about $35 in garbage. Cheese balls so freezer burnt they only had that freezer burnt flavor. The sauces and side sauces like Alfredo and beer cheese, they were old, overly salted and runny like water was added to both to thin them out and they were separating which further showed they were watered down. The onion rings were burned. Burned. It's just ridiculous that the appetizers were all over the place except the right place. Pay good employees to do a good job. Pay low wages, good workers leave. Pay a great salary and you'll have a thriving business because people will do better work and actually want to keep their jobs. It's sad how many decent restaurants have turned into filthy places to drink maybe. Eh, it's Applebee's - which is about a slight notch higher than a standard diner.......sometimes. The only reason this location gets the third star is because the meal generally was ok - except the meat, which wasn't cooked the way I wanted, but still fine. The menu is standard for all locations and this was no exception. The "2 for $20/2 for $25" choices are blah. I kind of think they should have a better selection for those "deals". The waitress was friendly and attentive. The place was clean and spacious enough. Memo to Applebees - you should only put lemons in drinks when people actually request them. Not everyone likes lemon in their sodas or water. Just an FYI. They have these little doohickeys at the tables where you can pay your bill, swipe your card, order etc. Not a bad innovation. It's my first time seeing that anywhere, though it could be just the area. They share the land and parking lot with other businesses, but you should be able to find a spot. So it's an Applebees. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon at around 4pm and no one was there to greet me so I waited a minute or 2 then decided to sit at any open table. I was then given a menu and I ordered a beer. Everything went pretty well I ordered a tomato soup and it was nice. After that the tex mex shrimp salad was great. Only thing I did not like is they swept the carpeted floor near me while I was eating. I don't like that at all. Why do they do that? Also I noticed the staff was not smiling much. I have had bad experiences here before but as of late I've been using Grubhub and while it's hasn't been the best it hasn't been the worst either. Well until my most recent order where they left out a entree from a 2 for $22 which i paid $36 for due to up-charges. In addition they left out a side for another meal and it took over an hour to even get to me even though the app said 35 minutes. The delivery person was there waiting for pickup within 20 minutes so i know it was the restaurant fault for the delay. I live 10 minutes away from the store. Obviously whoever manages this place doesn't care about the customer experience. It is sad as I do generally enjoy Applebees food. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

It's Applebee's. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. Our server was very good. Came for lunch with my brother in law. Raspberry iced tea to drink. We got nachos to start. Large portion and a lot of toppings. For lunch he ordered the fajitas. They came out sizzling with all the fixings. I ordered a fajita wrap with French fries. Best fries I've had (besides McD's) in my life. Perfectly seasoned and crunchy. The wrap was delicious as well. Great visit. If I could give no stars I would. I ended up going here after a five year hiatus and the food was horrible. I ordered a burger and cheese sticks. Some of the cheese sticks were cold in the center. The hamburger tasted funny and I only had a few bites. I felt A little sick after a few bites. I managed to finish the cheese sticks since I was hungry. Only went back due to traffic jam in 84. Stopped by fairly late the other evening for their boneless wings special. It's a great deal. Food arrived fairly quickly and was hot temperature wise. Which is the way it should be. My only complaint is that the celery was very stringy. Hence the four stars. I choose bbq and their hot dips along with sour cream, celery(additional) due to the 0.25 cent wing special. Still not a deal breaker. They even have a monthly drink special which I passed on. Not a fan on LI ice tea. I remember when I was younger my family and I used to always come to applebees usually every other week. We eventually stopped and started to visit another place, but I always wanted to revisit this restaurant. Upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly workers who got me a table as soon as possible. However, on some visits you may have to wait around 5 to 10 minutes for a table. Menu is the same generic food you find at any other applebees. Depending on the person, you may love it or hate it. The one problem that still tends to plague this place is the workers misplacing orders. The past 3 times I visited this establishment, my order has been mixed up with someone else's. This is extremely frustrating because the food tends to take awhile to be made before being served. This is unacceptable for any restuarant because you can lose many customers with these actions. Unless this issue gets fixed, I'll no longer be eating at this restuarant. read more

I happened to be there To support the Brewster girls lacrosse team by purchasing tickets for pancakes. The team was very helpful in serving us and surprisingly I was very pleased with the pancakes smoke bacon , syrup and coffee. At this location there are some good waiters and waitresses but then there are some really bad ones. Normally waiters and waitresses write on a pad to take down the whole order. Our waitress decided to remember everything by memory which seemed odd. So my mom told the waitress that she wants to do a 2 for $25 but to have the wings and chicken fingers to go. The waitress insisted that she couldn't do the wings to go because everything had to be placed at the same time in order for the deal to be in place. The waitress then claims that they have a heated lamp that could keep the wings warm. My mom ordered a cheeseburger with only pickles on it. I ordered the three cheese penne without the chicken nor the tomatoes. I just wanted the cheese on top of the penne. The waitress gave me sass by questioning if that was what I truly wanted. My appetizer of the chicken tacos come out and guess what also came out? The boneless wings that were suppose to be to go. Finally the cheeseburger and penne came out. My mom's cheeseburger had everything on it. At this point we were ready to go cause she kept on messing up. This restaurant is terrible. I have been to a number of Applebees and even worked in one for 5 years years ago. The service is terrible. They mess up your take out orders. I went there for dinner and the waitresses were overwhelmed by too many tables, not enough staff, understandable with Covid. Our waitress was stressing and bugging out and walked away from our table! My husband wanted to walk out before our drinks came. If there isn't enough staff to handle the restaurant close half of the seating into one spot. Those girls need help. This evening, at the suggestion of my son, I placed a "Carside to Go" order at Applebee's in Brewster, NY. I placed my order at approximately 6:05 p.m., and was told that upon driving to the establishment, my order (consisting of chicken tenders and a salad) would be brought to my waiting car in a mere 25 to 30 minutes. I pulled into one of the designated parking spaces at about 6:35 p.m., eagerly awaiting the delivery of hot vittles to my waiting chariot. The minutes ticked by, with nary an Applebee's employee to be seen. I noticed other impatient take-out diners exit their vehicles, and go into the restaurant in search of their elusive Applebee's cuisine. However, the helpful sign in front of my parking space said that it was only necessary to enter the restaurant to retrieve my food if the time was later than 9:00 p.m. After checking my watch to confirm the time, and my GPS to confirm I hadn't inadvertently driven out of the eastern time zone, I decided to remain in my vehicle a bit longer. My patience began to wane at about 7:15 p.m., and I got out of my car to enter the premises and inquire as to the whereabouts of my sustenance. But as I stepped out of the car, like an apparition, an actual Applebee's employee appeared! After polite introductions, this maitre d'Applebee's assured me that she would fetch my grub and she retreated to the establishment as if to actually do so. Surely I would soon be "eatin' good" in this vicinage! By 7:30 p.m., the young lady's failure to return had me concerned for her well-being. I entered the premises and was directed to the bar area, where I was told there were "a bunch of orders lined up." I identified myself to the barmaid, who looked over several brown bags, and told me the price of my order. I eagerly handed over my credit card, feeling confident that I was merely a signature away from departing with the nourishment I had ordered nearly 90 minutes earlier. I would quickly learn that I had been bamboozled. After signing my name to the the credit card receipt like a Governor signing a clemency order, the aforesaid barmaid advised me THAT MY ORDER WASN'T READY AND WOULD BE "OUT IN A FEW MINUTES." Well, if this wasn't a boot in the pantaloons. I felt like a man who had paid for something he hadn't received, probably because I had just paid for something I hadn't received. (At this juncture, I will note that the receipt for my order clearly indicated a "pick-up time" of 6:23 p.m., a full 70 minutes earlier than the time I tendered payment for my non-existent food. Evidently Applebee's does not consider this to be a binding contract. If you're reading this with the idea of ordering take-out from Applebee's in Brewster, NY, I recommend retaining counsel to negotiate a "time is of the essence" clause as a condition of your purchase.) I had now been at Applebee's for a full hour. However, instead of waiting for my food in the comfort of my car, I was now waiting for my food in the bar of an Applebee's on a Monday night, where the most popular item on the menu is clinical depression. My eyes were darting back and forth between the door to the kitchen (due to my fading hope that someone would emerge to bestow food upon me), and a self-embalmed septuagenarian on a barstool arguing with the barmaid that he had been cheated by the video lottery game. My mind was consumed with the realization that this descent into chain-restaurant Hell could have been avoided had I just gone to the Red Rooster. At about 7:45 p.m., my food arrived. I had imagined that after so much time, my food would arrive on a silver platter and would be heralded with trumpets. Alas, it came in a brown bag that looked as sad as I felt. I departed into the Putnam County night, with chicken tenders, a salad, and a side order of regret. I returned to my abode a much older man, and opened the container holding my salad. Ordinarily at this time of year, I enjoy the rich exposition of colors caused by leaves gradually expiring as the summer sun wanes, but not in my salad bowl. At Applebee's "greens" is more of a figure of speech than an adjective. As my son ate his chicken tenders, he exclaimed, "this one is shaped like a saxophone!" I quickly took to it with a fork and knife, to assure myself that the Applebee's chef hadn't dropped an *actual* saxophone into the deep fryer. While I was relieved to find that Kenny G would not be playing a tune on it, I was dismayed to learn that the "tender" in Applebee's "chicken tenders" was yet another misnomer. The chicken had the dry, sinewy texture of a bird that had met a natural demise. So in fairness, I will commend Applebee's in Brewster, NY for its commitment to animal rights - - instead of serving animals that die by violent slaughter, Applebee's just waits them out. Sadly, that's not enough to redeem this entirely miserable experience. TLDR: Applebee's of Brewster, NY - 0/10; will not go again. read more
