I'm beyond disappointed to submit this review. My kids love this place and we have always been happy to come and were pleased with the food and the service. In the past this was the perfect place for a family with young children to enjoy a night out with the kids. This specific location has really taken a nose dive. We were there last night with our 3 children and I felt compelled to write this review in the hopes that Corporate opens their eyes and does something about this because it would be a shame to continue letting it waste away the way it is. The restroom situation was completely UNACCEPTABLE under normal circumstances - but during COVID times even more offensive. It was filthy. Details not needed. Deplorable says it all. Not only unsanitary.... Sink out of order and has been for some time judging by the layer of dust on it. No hand towels or dryer. Absolutely disgusting. Not acceptable for the employees that work there or for patrons. This place screams for attention on so many levels. It just seems to be forgotten and it's really very upsetting. I realize that this is a difficult time for business to stay afloat, but you can't ignore the conditions there and what seems like a total lack of Management. I gave two stars but only for the young group that was working last night with what appeared to be no Management or Supervision. They were very nice and probably had to try really hard to seem so upbeat and pleasant under terrible working conditions. Soda machines not working, food items not available, poor communication about those issues. Not sure who dropped the ball here but the ball dropped hard. Absolutely the worse service. Every place is hit or miss. I always give 2nd, 3rd, chances but it has been a 'miss' the last three times. The waitress was incompetent. She started off by complaints about her job. No hello, how are you nothing. I should have left then. The food was horrible. The appetizers portions are pathetic. The wing portion has always stayed the same but the pretzel and mozzarella sticks were pathetic!! The worse is the charge finally posted to my cc and $1 more was added to the tip. It might only be a $1 but I painfully gave her a %15 tip after the terrible service and I'm angry. We want to support our local restaurants but can no longer support this one. Applebee's is promoting all you can eat ribs and chicken tenders. Looking at the commercial , I couldn't wait to go! Went to Applebees in Southeast (Brewster) N.Y and the nightmare began. The Barmaid did not greet me, I had to get her attention to order a drink. The employees were busy conversing amongst themselves and with a customer that appeared to be a barfly (regular). I had to ask for a menu, she never promoted the special promotions, I had to ask her about the All You Can Eat Ribs and Chicken Tenders. I ordered the ribs, which were brought in a timely fashion. I wish they took a little longer because the ribs appeared to have been cooked in a moist pressure cooker, it was grey on one side and the other side looked like bar-b-cue sauce was wiped on the other. It looked nasty, like a pile grey meat! The taste was just as horrible, it was under seasoned, the sauce was tasty, the french fries were good, they were the highlight of the entree. The cole slaw was a cup of cabbage and carrots with no seasoning. I didn't finish my ribs, they were too nasty. All the time the barmaid/waitress never asked me if I was enjoying my experience, she was busy talking to the other employees. I had to get her attention to order another margarita which was too sweet with the sweet and sour mix was'nt sure if she put alcohol in it. I had to ask her for the chicken tenders, when they came out I hurried and ate them while they were hot, they were ok, much better than the ribs. i pushed my plate with the ribs aside, she never took the plate away, I put a used napkin on top of the ribs so you would have thought she knew I was finished with it. So no I didn't enjoy my experience, they food was subpar, they need to hire a new manager as well as a cook in the kitchen. They should send undercover employees in to critique the staff and food quality. I'm sure they would clean house, hire a new manager and cook and retrain the employees. On that note the french fries were good. I'm giving an update a concerned representative called me this evening, she was very apologetic about the lack of attentive service I received. She invited me to return and give the restaurant another chance in which I agreed. To Applebees credit, it's not often that a chain restaurant will attempt to rectify a mistake let alone in such a timely fashion. I will let you know how my second visit goes. I still don't like the riblets, it's the quality of the meat. On the next visit, I'll order the regular ribs. I'll let you know how they are. Stay tuned. I revisited Applebee's in Brewster and i'm happy to say my visit was totally enjoyable. This time I ordered the full rack of ribs instead of the riblets and they were much better. What made my second visit so much nicer than my first was my waitress/bartender Christina. She was so accommodating and every encounter came with a smile. She made sure I had everything I needed or requested, the service was prompt and again she delivered with a smile. I want to also mention the General Manager John Defrancesco. John was in his regular clothes, he was about to leave for the day when he overheard a customer asking about the ingredients in certain foods because her child was allergic to certain foods. John interceded, told the customer he would check with the chef to make sure if it met with the customers request. It wasn't until afterwards when he was leaving I asked his name to compliment him on his professional attitude that I found out he was the general manager. I really enjoyed my visit, it was so much different from my first and I hope it continues. One small critique/suggestion, while the one dollar margarita is a good promotion, being that it is only the strawberry margarita you can order for the dollar promotion strictly limits the customers that will take advantage of it. A regular margarita for a dollar would be a perfect promotion. read more

The last time I was at this particular Applebee's was in September 2017. Found the Yelp reviews and am sad to see so many others suffered similar experiences as I did. - We were sat down around 7pm. - When we finally got a waitress, she was far from happy. She looked overworked and tired. At 7pm? Wow. - It took another hour after we placed our order before I realized four other tables that were seated after us received their food. When I asked our waitress for help, she said she would help us now. Didn't seem to care that we were overlooked. I asked for a manager, none came. - When she finally came back a half hour later, our food was burned and uneatable. I again asked for a manager and was told she was busy. I demanded we get the manager immediately. - When the waitress came back with food that wasn't burned, I again asked for the manager. She huffed, and said the manager was in the kitchen. I told her I didn't care, to get the manager now. - The manager finally came out, apologized for the service, told me that her cooks didn't come in on time so she was in the kitchen. I told her that's no excuse for the crap service from the waitress or her pathetic disposition. I told her that while we were waiting for food, my son fell asleep. The only good thing about this experience was the food was free. Of which I didn't eat, as my son and I went to McDonald's immediately after we left. Applebee's usually is a better place to go - just now Brewster. Haven't been back there since. They could pay me to eat there, I still wouldn't return. read more

My fiancé and I are traveling back to Connecticut from visiting family in Virginia. We decided to stop and eat at this Applebee's. The food was typical of what an Applebee's would produce. Our issue was the staff. Granted I completely understand on Easter, you probably won't have a tremendous amount of customers. However, there were 8 tables filled in this establishment. The staff except for the young woman at the bar, were sitting down in a booth fooling around on their phones and chatting away with each other. When customers needed them, the young woman at the bar took care of everything. When the telephones were ringing, she also took care of them. Meanwhile the waitresses and the male host sat on their butts, refusing to do any work. What a lazy and unprofessional establishment. Will not be returning. read more

Went to Applebee's on 10/14. They were running their dollarita special. We ordered our first round and some appetizers. We had a couple other rounds after that, each worst than the next. They literally gave us margarita mix, water over ice. There was no tequila added, period. I couldn't believe it, I was paying to drink straight margarita mix. The boneless wings were good with ranch, mozzarella sticks were cold and only okay. 2 stars solely for the boneless wings. I would avoid this location, much better options for almost anything. I have been coming to this Applebees for 10+ years since I have lived here my whole life. I have NEVER had one bad thing to say about it. But tonight the car side to go waitress, Angela or Angelina, or whatever her name was, just ruined my mood. I literally had such a good day and within 5 minutes it was ruined. She came outside to "hand" me my food. She all but threw the bag into my window. Snatched my card and stormed inside without a word. On her way back to give me my card, she handed me the receipt, I signed and gave it back and she checked my credit card onto the parking lot pavement. Then walked away. I am astounded. Went to have dinner with my wife on a Monday evening. Not sure, but the "B" crew must have been working. My wife ordered grilled shrimp and steak; steak was good, but shrimp came out uncooked/raw. After bring it up the the waitress, she stated that the manager (who didn't show his/her face) also said it was raw. After coming back with the same shrimp, now slightly grilled, asked "is that good enough?" Don't you think the idiot grilling the shrimp should know how to grill shrimp? We sit and waited at least 20 minutes for someone to come over. When he did, he didn't even tell us about the drink specials...so we got a free one! Sigh! This is my second review for this location, Sunday Nov. 20th my husband and I went for a late lunch since we were in the area. We walked in and noticed it was not crowded at all given it was Sunday during Football season and it was snowing! We walked in and sat down at the high top bar tables and waited 10 mins before the waitress Terry in our section acknowledged us and asked if we needed menus. We gave us the menus and said someone would be with us soon, Another 10 mins go by before our waitress Michelle D (who had an entire section and at least 5 tables) was able to stop by and take our drink orders. I asked for a Fat Tire and Michelle D had no idea what that was (it's a craft beer currently on tap). She apologized for the delay and was very professional and gracious. This is what really bothered us, the entire time we sat at the high top the floor manager Kim was there saw us come in and sit there waiting and not once did she much as have someone help us or even let us know they may be shorthanded. In my opinion, if you are a manager at this Applebee's location you don't care, you don't care about your employees, your job or most importantly your customers. read more

Sat at a table for 15 minutes before we got our drinks order taken, another 10 before we actually got our drinks. We placed our order and waited for about 30 minutes before we got our appetizer which was an order of wings then waited for almost 45 more minutes and never received our entrees. Other tables received theirs and when we spoke to a manager she was very rude, we tried to pay for our drinks and the one app but were just ignored by the staff. I love Applebee's. They do have the same menu but it's still very good. I love the buffalo chicken and even the steak is pretty good. The only thing I have to say isn't up to par is the burgers. They taste good but they seem like they are thrown in with barely any care. They aren't round and smooth like most burgers are. Otherwise they are still really good. In this day and age where vegetarians/vegans are quite common is it expecting too much to find some meatless offerings? I would have been happy with a veggie burger but when I inquired as to whether this was available I was told that they did have them at one time but not any longer. How hard is it to have this item in the freezer for their vegetarian patrons? Food is mediocre and I'd put it in the category of "fake food." The two appetizers we ordered tasted like they were nuked or came out of a can and appeared to be highly processed. In all fairness, the salad we ordered (without chicken) was quite good and fresh. I learned my lesson and have crossed Applebees off my places to dine list. The server was very polite and accommodating and the service was fine so the one star is for him. My grandson picked this place for his birthday lunch. We got there together with his parents at about 2:30 AM on Saturday, October 25th. After we were seated, no waitress showed up for over 10 minutes at our table and we were unable to make even eye contact with any waitress, so I got up, went to the hostess area and told whoever was there about this problem. A waitress did show up shortly thereafter, apologized and said that they "forgot" that we had been seated at that table. After we ate the meal, she asked if we wanted a dessert menu, and we said yes. She came back about 5 minutes later without a menu and we said we wanted to pay, which we did. I have to say, that I barely can remember another restaurant where I experienced this kind of unprofessional and inattentive service! it appeared as if there was no supervisor/manager present to coordinate and oversee the restaurant. And the restaurant was even only moderately busy at that time! All of us were disappointed/upset and discussed alternative restaurants in the area for future restaurant visits. I did not come here for a while due to the quality of food not just the Carmel location but Applebee's everywhere. Since they have upgraded their food menu quite a bit I have returned. My favorite item on the menu is the Chicken Wonton appetizer and I have the with the agave margarita. If you sit in the bar area, the drinks are 2 for 1. read more

The Saturday after Thanksgiving my family and I were heading home from Maine. We had eaten breakfast in Maine around 10 am. By the time we were going through Brewster it was Dinner time and we stopped at Applebee's to eat. The girl at the desk said it would only be 15 minutes and we were fourth on the list. In fifteen minutes more people started to fill the waiting area and after a half hour it had become crowded. After forty minutes my wife and children were very hungry and anxious especially since people were getting seated that had come in after us. When I asked the girl when we could expect to be seated she checked her list and we had been crossed off. She apologized and said we would get the next table. Once we were seated my wife said it was a racist act and I didn't understand what she was talking about. I am a white male and have never experienced racism. My wife is Filipino and has brown skin and had tasted racism before and knew exactly what it tasted like. When the waitress came to take our drink order my wife asked if we could give our meal order at the same time. We had been waiting around an hour by this time. The waitress seemed disturbed by this request but took our order anyway. We thanked her and she did not say thank you. My wife quickly pointed this out to me. When she brought over the drinks we thanked her and again she did not respond. They brought out our appetizers and we finally began to eat. Then around a minute later they brought out our soup and our meals. There we sat with the meal, the soup, and the appetizers all on the table together. I will say I was very annoyed since there was no room for all this. What annoyed me was that this waitress did it on purpose. The food was very good and that's why I gave a star. I will never ever eat at this place again. I will tell my friends and family not to eat here. I am telling you not to eat here. This is either a racist restaurant or the service is just awful. Ever think to yourself "I could go for a one star restaurant experience right now". If so, this Applebees is the place for you. You know I'm not one to post reviews, let alone negative ones but this place has inspired me so much I just couldn't help myself. I always try to be empathetic towards waiters and if I have an unpleasant experience I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. But there was no reason for my friends and I to wait over an hour for our meals. Our waitress had an attitude from the start and took a long time to even take our drink orders even though there were probably more waiters working than actual customers and therefore no reason to have to wait so long to take our orders and for us to get our food. Like I said I'm usually understanding and if service is slow I figure the kitchen could be backed up or something but I found that since there were barely any customers there in the first place, this couldn't be the reason. Not to mention our waitress didn't even come over during that entire hour we were waiting for our food to apologize for the long wait or to see how we were doing. After waiting what seemed like the entire length of the movie Titanic without seeing our waitress or our food I was getting hangry and cold. Oh, did I mention we were seated next to a door that even though it had a sign on it to keep it closed at all times, the workers decided to ignore and keep open so the nippy November air kept hitting us. I should've know there was a reason the entire staff was wearing north face jackets. So not only am I hungry at this point but I'm closer to getting frostbite than I am to getting my food. If Harambe was alive this probably wouldn't have happened. After being ignored and feeling like I just got into a fight with Elsa I tried my best to let it go. Our food arrived and when I went to ask for ketchup (what kind of restaurant doesn't put ketchup on a table) our waitress had disappeared . It wouldn't be for another half hour until we'd see her again... the food was pretty disappointing for all three of us. I should mention we have pretty low standards. I am not picky when it comes to restaurants or food but I was just so angry at this point which is pretty rare for me. I saw our waitress walk past our table several times but never once stop to ask if we need anything. I NEEDED KETCHUP. I even saw her standing around at one point doing nothing. None of the other workers asked how we were. I started to feel like we had Ebola or something. (We don't). We were going to order dessert but we're so displeased we just asked for our checks when she finally checked on us. This location really needs to get their shit together. Finally, I know what it's like to be invisible. My wife and I were seated promptly and were told Kristen would be our server. We eventually got to see Kristen who appeared after almost ten minutes. Communication? Not sure. She took our drink order, never asked about an appetizer, so Applebees never got that order. She brought our drinks and walked away, again not asking about an appetizer (yes, we wanted one). She eventually returned and took our dinner order. My wife liked her ribs, but I really didn't like the Lemon Shrimp Fettuccine (not her fault, I just didn't care for it). When Kristen next appeared we requested the dessert menu and she was kind enough to bring one. After a couple of minutes, and the menu sitting on the end of the table, she must have taken the menu on the end of the table as a signal to clean the table next to ours instead of taking our order, so she didn't get that one either. All in all, not a great experience. We were just passing through, but locals who go there, be forewarned, the service is slow. Of 3 sales opportunities, this employee missed 2. We just went back here for dinner for a fundraiser type event for my employer and I was pleasantly surprised. As we were seated my 2 year old didn't want to sit in the highchair and started to cry. The hostess didn't miss a beat and came over with a toy to distract him which worked wonders. The waitress was warm and kind. The food was hot, well prepared, and came out in a timely manner.
