My wife and I stopped by in order to get some food to go before going to our hotel. Our waitress was named Norma and she was quite energetic and was quick to promote the weekend nightlife of Brenham speaking of the outdoor music near the center of town. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries and my wife had the mushroom burger with fries as well. Although both of our burgers were to our liking, the bland unseasoned fries were a disaster. Fortunately we both ordered an entree sized salad with cheddar cheese, fried chicken tenders, crispy croutons and a large tub of yummy ranch dressing. I would like to come here more often but the bartender does the absolute bare minimum every time I sit at the bar, if not less. The music is blasting and every time I can barely hear myself think and they keep changing it to Spanish music. If I was at a Mexican restaurant, I'd expect it, but something else will come on and they will go change it back to mariachi style music mid song. Applebees in general has just gone down from my experience. I guess with everything being so high they have also cut down on certain things and you can definitely tell in there food . It's just not good anymore no flavor just bland all the time. Been more then a few times now and just the same no flavor in the dishes . They have cut to many corners . It's an Applebees so should be fairly predictable but we were kinda hesitant when we saw it's 2 star rating. Everything was super good though! Not the cheapest but we did the 2 for $35 deal... 2 small entrées and an appetizer. Excellent half rack of BBQ ribs with amazing sauce (request extra for the fries) and the Cajun salmon was cooked perfectly! The spinach artichoke dip is probably the best I've ever had with perfect tortilla chips! The atmosphere was nice most of the time (lots of TVs and soft classic rock playing) although a girl at the bar had obviously overindulged... at the bar! The manager and our waiter Jonathan both apologized for her disturbance (not that her stupidity was their fault) but it wasn't a big deal. Not a fancy 5 star restaurant but I probably wouldn't be eating there if it was! I sat at the bar for dinner because I was alone and like to watch the Astros Play. The bartender "did his job" and his attitude was just that. I asked for a bag to put my left over food container in and he refused to give me one. I believe it was because he would have to walk 20 feet to get one. The manager spent an enormous amount of time tending to a family that were obviously friends of his. The attitude they're sucked and it was depressing. Go to Chili's down the street. New to Brenham and I am making a point to review all the joints we go to as we visit. Went to Applebee's because we had been working in the yard all day and was to tired to cook. It was almost 9 on Friday (6-21-24). We were greeted fairly quickly and seated. Rachel, our waitress also appeared pretty quick. We gave her a drink order and decided to wait until 9 to order apps since they went to 1/2 price. She was great about that. I had a side salad that was slightly disappointing due to the small chopped cucumbers (they were watery and not fresh), but I'm a salad snob and I will readily admit that. We also ordered 3 apps to share. Gotta say, we loved the pretzels and beer cheese and the Wonton tacos, but the boneless chicken wings are really just chicken nuggets and sauce. We also took away some Cinnabites for snacking later... so yummy. Overall, it's an Applebee's, what do you expect, but the service was good and the food was ok. The burger I got today is the only reason they got a 2 star rating. The burger was great, but nothing else came close to acceptable. I've been to this Applebee's a few times and the most consistent thing is that the service is pitiful. The staff has zero sense of urgency, communicating with them is a joke. Either they are mumbling and quiet or talking like they are experiencing last call at a bar somewhere in the 1970s. My suggestions: 1. Get a new manager who cares. 2. Emily is a rock star! We went there last night for dinner.When we walked in Emily told us she was the only server and we saw one bartender. Emily assured us she was OK and set us at a table. Went in for my birthday recently, I would go in usually once every other week and it had been sub-par. I went because it open later then many other places. the drinks came out slow and warm and when issues are brought up, the management is absolutely dysfunctional. I've seen Manager Ashley grill employees better than any of their cooks can make a steak. She's a fan of publicly yelling at employees to make a point and then doesn't fix anything. This recent visit is my last and I highly recommend avoiding it. Worst restaurant experience! We should have left when we first got there and the host told us to be patient. There was only one server on the floor (Tanner) who really was doing his best. There was another server who wasn't doing anything and two people behind the bar doing nothing. One of the bartenders was apparently too busy taking care of her very small child to help tables. Wow. Stay away. Customer server is extremely lacking. We waited 20 mins to sit. Waited 15 to get serverd. Then servers disappeared, so i had to get up and ask for our ticket at the bar. Bartender was mixed and requested our ticket from a tall lady. I then saw That lady then printed out tickets. And then go about her business cleaning tables. She took her sweet time doing random things, then 15 mins later showed up to our table for the ticket. I had a great time at Applebee's last night. Our waiter was super sweet and made sure everything was refilled and going good. My steak came out literally rare but just wanted medium rare, the waiter and the manager took care of it right away and comp some food for the troubles. We don't usually care for chain restaurants. However, this Applebee's does not disappoint. The service was amazing (it always is). Our server was Érica. We loved the chitchat at the bar. It makes it fun to go out and visit with someone besides each other (we have been married 37 years and we work together) Our food was delicious! I had the steak with broccoli and garlic green beans. When he gave us the drinks I said we were ready to order and he said he would be right back to take it. Then went to the kitchen and saw him laughing with coworkers, then cleaned two tables talking to another one but there were maybe 6 tables in the whole restaurant, we got the games on the tablet then the tablet died and we tried to wave down someone who walked by our table only to be completely ignored. They were open Thanksgiving which was a plus. The service was excellent, the food looked good but was kind of bland. My dad got the Thanksgiving plate and both parents agreed that the turkey tasted like it had come out of a can. Everything else maybe needed some seasoning. I ordered the grilled vegetables, they too were incredibly bland and was just a 1/4th of a peice of a zucchini and a 1/4th of a peice of a squash. That was all they gave me.
