I was impressed with the location, it looked like a former warehouse or art gallery. Modern, rustic decor with Large arched full length windows and doors, brick wall interior. I unfortunately took my chances as a walk in to have my laptop looked at, and I had a great 3 hour wait. All the staff members were attentive I had multiple members check in with me, I walked out grabbed a coffee and I felt comfortable. The store was fu and busy but very peaceful! I sat through 3 Genius Classes, I had my AirPods popped in so I didn't learn anything new. When I was finally serviced, I was SO relieved to doscover the genius tech was able to revive my outdated MacBook Air. The Genius Tech even was able to appraise my iPad and the laptop in the event I wanted to trade it in. The tech was named Kimo and he was so helpful, even said he was supposed to leave for the day but still stayed to make sure my laptop turned on and even gave me a possible cause and remedy if it happens to me again. It's your standard apple store. If you find what you want, you can skip waiting for someone and just self checkout or pay on your app and schedule an in-store pickup. There's a large mix of personalities in terms of the staff. Some have deep concern after you've apparently waited over 30 minutes to return an item. Some have just walk on by causing customers to wait so long to start. They don't like any talks of price matching even their themselves on Amazon. They aren't rude about it or anything but it is annoying that it contradicts what apple support chat advised me. Overall mixed bag of a store. They have what you need and they are nice. Prepare to wait in a line unless you're the type that likes to butt in and demand service. Then you'll be just fine I guess. read more

Informed me that lint from my jeans was the culprit. 2. Used some magical little tool to remove said jean lint. 3. Didn't even shame me for my obviously flawed practice of shoving my phone into my jeans without regard for the thick, blue lint and its debilitating qualities. To say that the Williamsburg Apple store is poorly managed, is an understatement. I fully understand that during this Pandemic things are run differently, and I appreciate the precautions in place, BUT that should be no excuse to mistreat customers. I went to pick up a repair, one of the security guards directed me to one of the three lines, each line designated for a specific service. On the repair pick line, I had to wait for over an hour meanwhile the other two lines that had at least 5 times the amount of people were both cleared twice, yet not one person for repair pick up was assisted. During my very long wait I requested to speak with a manager, to that the security officer responded "you have to wait till you're inside". My experience once in the store unfortunately did not get any better. I spoke with a manager who didn't do much to help the situation, except confirm that his staff inside the store was informed that myself and two other gentlemen were waiting for repair pickup for over an hour. I was finally able to pick up my MacBook and the team member who assisted me was very nice and apologetic for my awful experience. A persons time is valuable and should be respected not disregarded. The management at Apple Williamsburg does NOT value, appreciate or respect their customers. read more

There is a reason why no one goes to brick and mortar stores and this store embodies all of those reasons. I decided I'm going to FINALLY upgrade my iphone 6 to the iphone XS. I go in there and people are milling around. I wish this could just be a normal store with a normal checkout line, not random employees wandering around talking to each other. No one ever asked if I needed help so after awhile, I interrupt two employees chatting. Granted, I am never know if this is the iphone "X" or iphone "10." So very un-eloquently, I say I want the newest phone, whatever it's called, in silver, with the mid range of storage. The woman tells me that she only does express sales and can find someone else to help me. I insist that I know what I want. Finally, she asks someone to bring it from the back. The phone comes and it has the wrong serial number so she can't scan it. It takes another 5 to 10 minutes for someone to bring another phone. Then it's time to activate it. Despite hearing me speak with sprint, answer the security question, and have the account pin texted to me, she will not activate the phone because she says my dad is the only authorized user. I created the online account and I had the first phone on the family plan. Now, it's 9:00, and I am so annoyed, I walk out with my sad iphone 6, which at this point has already been wiped. Came here to replace the battery in my phone. Left my phone with them and came back to pick it up after an hour. They messed up the home button while replacing the battery! They offered to replace the screen to help fix the home button. Turns out they didn't have the parts at the store to do so. Then they said they'd replace the phone. The replacement phone had fingerprints and smudges all over it and the battery was also not working. They went back and got ANOTHER phone. The battery was completely dead so I had to wait here for them to charge it to make sure it was an actual working battery. I'm writing this review as I wait for them to fix their problem of screwing up my phone when I went back for a simple battery replacement. Horrible store!!! Worst Apple experience ever! read more

Service: 0 Location: 2 Overall: 1 Beautiful location! I came here once earlier during the pandemic and had decent service. Today was nothing like my first encounter. Apple has a feature that refers you to verified providers other than actual Apple stores. I didn't realize that until my arrival at a partner store today. I traveled from Queens so I decided to go to the location on Belford, rather than just leave the partner location. Unfortunately, all of the techs were gone for the day. My issue was with who I presume is the store manager - a short Black woman (I didn't get her name). I barely got a word in before she decided to suggest a million and one other alternatives. That seems helpful right? No! I did not even get to describe what my issue was because she kept cutting me off. Apple please retrain your staff on how to greet and interact with customers. "Can you take a step back" is not an appropriate greeting to customers. Cutting customers off after every two words is not an effective way to communicate or find out the issue, and speaking in a condescending tone under the disguise of professionalism is also just not it. read more

"REALLY, WHY THE HELL I WOULD WAIT THAT LONG AFTER I WORKED 8-5 Shift AT MY CORPORATE OFFICE?!" If this manager would have told me the appointment time, I would have said no thank you. (My partner is writing from my profile because they do not have Yelp). Worst customer service experience with Apple, or really any company, in recent memory. I came in to the Williamsburg Apple Store today around 4 pm, and spoke with a female associate whose name I unfortunately did not take down. My issue was that my phone, a refurbished replacement Apple provided this February after a previous refurbished model I received the same day did not work, stopped being able to connect to signal outside of Wifi. There were no other issues with the phone's functionality, screen, or body. From the first moment of our interaction, the associate was combative and intent to prove that what I was saying was not true. She claimed the phone I brought in was purchased in 2014, and said, "This phone has the same number [as a 2014 model] on the back, unless [I] lazer etched it." When she finally checked the records to see that Apple did indeed issue me a phone in February, she lied and claimed that 'All the phones Apple gives out are new, not refurbished' - exactly the opposite of what the previous associate who provided the replacement said. She then showed me a chemical strip within the phone that turns red when exposed to water, claimed the issue was water damage and that Apple would not be liable to offer a replacement or solution. I know for a fact that this phone has no water damage (and wonder whether the excess humidity, which has hovered at around 80% in NY for weeks now, could set off this strip). There was no issue with the phone indicating water damager either - the screen worked perfectly and was responsive, all apps loaded fine, and everything worked well when connected to Wifi - it just couldn't pick up a 3G signal. The associate was a wall, and obviously resolute to do nothing to explore or resolve the issue from the outset. From the moment I came in, I was (as I always am, underscored by my social anxiety and years on the butt end of customer service) polite, kind, even-toned, and undemanding. She called me "rude" to my face when I asked a clarifying question, and her abrasive nature made a frustrating situation even worse. I was unable to finish the exchange, and due to the aforementioned anxiety, excused myself and left feeling terrible about the entire interaction. I usually don't write Yelp reviews - I don't have a Yelp account! - but this interaction was so bad that I not only will hesitate to speak with an Apple employee again, but have also decided to finally switch to Android - and am keeping my fingers crossed that the Samsung customer service team is much more empathetic and capable than Apple's. So to whoever manages this store: train your people. While some folks may have bad intentions, most customers who come in have genuine problems and are seeking human support to understand their options and get to the root of the issue. Associates are there to bridge the gap, not widen it. And also, maybe have a sit down with whoever this associate was because they definitely need more training. read more

Yes, I waited for hours to my date to be transferred to my new phone. Yes, there was issue with my IOS, back ups and etc ( I am not sure if the technical skills). But! People who helped me such as Lia and Mario really helped me in between customers. They made sure I was alive during the traumatic situation and my new phone to have all the data they possibly can transfer. I walked in the store at 12:15ish and left at 7:30pm. I should be upset. I made a genius bar appointment to get my iphone screen fixed at 6:40pm on a Monday and arrived about 10 minutes late. While they were very understanding and still checked me in, I then had to wait about 40 additional minutes for a genius bar tech to actually come see me. Everything went smoothly and my technician was very friendly (I had AppleCare) and I was told to come pick up my phone at 8:45. When I returned, however, I still had to wait an additional 25 minutes (past their 9am closing time) to get my fixed phone. Overall, the staff is friendly but they either overbook appointments or have very little sense of urgency. The floor layout has some interesting stuff but I was also surprised at the amount of product on display that was not functioning properly or missing key parts. Since I did a lot of browsing during my 40 minute wait I noticed that one of the 3 desktop iMacs did not have a functioning mouse and some of the tripod photo equipment either didn't work or was out of batteries. read more

I won't be going to this location anymore due to the lack of awareness, customer service and overall ability to come up with solutions to problems that were actually created by the new iphone update for the 7 and 7 plus. My phone automatically upgraded from 11.1 to 11.3 and ever since the mic, speakers won't work but only with Apple phone, imessages, voice memo, and video. 3rd party apps work just fine. It is a known issue for a little while now. The solution offered to me was to buy another phone for $350 but that still didn't address for the reason behind why my own phone was having issues. Buying a new phone still doesn't address that problem. Yes, my phone was out of warranty but it was working fine before the update. It feels a little like extortion when you buy something that is expensive and then a software issue and hardware incompatibility creates a non-functioning product. Now to use a model of someone who would get a virus on their computer and then have to pay someone to get it off so functionality can happen again. This is what the model feels like. I have never run into an issue where the people who represent a company in a store were unwilling to deal with it. I ended up calling apple support and on the phone, they told me this is an issue within the OS, that they will have no problem to either fix my phone or replace it for free. This all happened in the course of a 20 min discussion via phone but in the store, I spent an hour repeating the same thing over and over again to different people who wouldn't address the issue. So in final, I believe that this location is not training its people to understand how to provide service properly, the lack of care and repeating of "we understand the issue" but not actually doing anything about it is infuriating. What would be my motivation to pay $350 or upgrade my phone to a new phone if you can't even handle coming up with a solution to the original issue? It looks like it's being used as a means to make sales. That is called a short-term gain but short-term gains don't sustain a company long term because, in order to make it in the long term things like loyalty, quality, communication and creative problem solving are motivations for keeping your company running for the longer term. *Take notes corporations, because, without the people who support your products, you will just be a provider of a service or product that no one will show up for in future especially if you don't understand that your real shareholders are the millions of people who buy your products everyday and not just the people who buy stocks in your company. read more

Salesman was this stupid 21 year old, completely useless, looks at my confirmation code and goes "You need to call 1800 MY APPLE because you're not authorized to pick this up" when I LITERALLY bought the thing on my credit card. Then I called customer service and after 2 hours on the phone the help desk says, "I'm sorry about that. The salesman is wrong here. There's no reason you shouldn't have been able to pick this up if your payment info is on the billing account." Apple needs to hire new staff and have MANY more training before hiring such incompetent staff. This is a review of the iMac not necessarily this store. Since there's no place to review Apple as a whole or this particular product I'm putting here.....I've been using Apple computers for 15 years now and the latest one I purchased is the worst computer I've ever used. It has a smaller screen then my old iMac and only supports one additional monitor. This is the first time in 30 years where I purchased a computer that has a smaller monitor and less features than the last one - and this is one of the most expensive computers on the marked. And then I found out the computer they sold me was actually two years old! Not only that, simple programs don't work requiring me to restart and reinstall most programs and eventually the whole operating system and the computer still doesn't work. To add insult to injury, after wasting an incredible amount of time on these issues Apple support blamed me for all the problems and didn't fix any of them. read more

When I found an employee to ask where said items were, she pointed to a wall and said 'they're over there, but I can't take you because I'm going on break' Fine, whatever... I'm self sufficient. I wondered if there was a place I could charge the phone, so I could see what these lenses actually did before I bought them... Meandered through the space looking for help. Finally, I found the employee who's stands with an iPad. He was helping a lady, so I waited in line a few minutes, so they could finish. Upon completion... he did not acknowledge me even though I had been standing there for 5 minutes staring at him periodically. A simple, "I'll be right with you" would have been perfect. Instead, he walked away and talked to a guy who walked up after I had been there. So I circled the store again... to see if someone could help... and no. Needless to say, after 20min in the store it was clear the no cared that I might need help, so I left and will only return to Manhattan locations. I made an appt to bring in my iphone because it had a cracked back. I was told it would be around $500 to just to fix the back but I could trade it in for a $200 gift card. The genius bar guy I worked with told me there was no rush - I could think about it and come back later. I came back the next week to turn the phone in but this time, I was told that no, I could get nothing for this phone because it was damaged. When I pointed out that I was told just a week before that I *could* get something for this phone and that the phone worked absolutely fine save for the cracked back, the employee practically rolled his eyes and asked with attitude if I wanted to speak with his manager. Huge waste of time and energy - not to mention an environmental disaster. Let's mine more rare earth metals and tear up the planet to make more brand new phones rather than recycle or restore old ones - makes total sense, Apple! read more

While walking around Williamsburg, we stumbled across this Apple location so we decided to check out the new HomePod. (Sidenote: It was smaller than I was expecting, but still sounds awesome! That said, please update Siri! The Echo beats this! But I digress...) While in there, I remembered my Milanese loop Apple Watch band had an issue, so I approached someone and asked if they could help. They took about five minutes going through my purchase history, and even though my AppleCare had officially expired, they agreed they could replace it free of charge. However, it would take about a week to get there so I'd have to come back. Well, the next day I got a call that it was already in! Drove over, walked in, and within five to ten minutes, I was enjoying my shiny new band! More impressive, it was near the end of the day and I had my computer with me. I was having an issue with a video adapter. Since I didn't have an appointment and it was near the end of the day, I thought I'd be out of luck, but I should have known better. They found a genius who helped me out! (Turns out the issue was the adapter, not the Mac.) Still, this is why even if Apple did charge a premium (which IMHO, they don't) it would still be worth it. Two cases of needing help. Two times they helped, and in the one case where it was the fault of Apple, even though my warranty had expired, they handled it. This is why you buy Apple. They get their products are tools for life. They help you get back to yours faster, rather than waiting in lines, or worse, having to ship your stuff off for days. I'm gonna make this short and sweet because I really don't like yelp but I also hate to see a good employee not get his due. I went in the afternoon to buy a new laptop. I had done my research before hand so I knew I wanted. I was immediately assisted by a really chill apple employee named Jamal. He showed me the differences between the models and the price and all that apple stuff. He was honest and straight forward. While we waited for the computer to get delivered (from their warehouse wherever it was-- it didn't take long) I asked him some questions about the iCloud and showed him a weird issue I'd been having with my phone. He answered all my questions (told me about some classes the store has in case I wanted to learn more) and gave me a tip on what to do to fix my phone. Then my computer showed up, I paid, thanked him and left. It was probably the most pleasant apple experience I've ever had. Easy, straightforward-- no bs. I really appreciated his candor. As someone who has been both customer and employee-- you get what you give in retail situations. Of course there are exceptions, but at the end of the day they're just humans doing their jobs the best they can. Ya'll just need to just chill out and play with your apple things. read more
