This was our favorite place we ate in Townsend. When we got in town, our cell service was pretty spotty, so we weren't able to check Yelp and I'm glad we weren't able to because we probably wouldn't have stopped in based on its rating. I got the chicken and dumplings which were really good. They have a large condiment bar, so I got some really good hot sauce to add to it. Likewise, we got these fry/potato chip things (not sure what they are called), and they were delicious. The desserts were also good, but a little overpriced in my opinion. We'd recommend this place if you're in Townsend and looking for a nice meal. read more

I have one word, PANCAKES. There are a plethora of pancake houses in the Smoky's. By far, these hot "cake-like" ginormous pancakes are the best around. The biscuits and gravy hit too. Will return soon to try out a very impressive and fresh looking burger bar. read more

We've eaten here every time we come to the Gatlinburg area the food is always good and prices aren't bad. Staff is always friendly and they allow dogs on the patio. I would definitely recommend if your look for a good lunch. read more

Terrible customer service. Staff was rude, and one person was so bothered by the fact that she had to take my friends order because her 3 year old was crying, that she had the audacity to roll her eyes and huff and puff "ugh, can I help you". The food was mediocre, at best. It wasn't hot, more like warm. The fries weren't cooked through and some were very raw. One of my friends ordered the BLT and spent $8 for two pieces of toast and COLD bacon! Who does that!? There was a gentleman in there who was very polite but the female staff was rude and honestly acted like they hated their jobs. Will not return. I will say that the workers at the general store were very polite and helpful. In response to Mark: I appreciate you writing back to clarify the issue, however, a shortage of staff and influx of customers does NOT excuse your employees being both RUDE and disrespectful! Period. If you can't handle a customer service position in a primarily touristy community, then you should probably find a more suitable occupation. Additionally, shortage of staff and influx of customers doesn't excuse COLD or UNCOOKED food! If you want people to frequent your establishment, you should probably serve them food at the appropriate temperatures and ensure that the food is cooked through thoroughly. I could have gotten both better food and service at a hospital cafeteria. Stepping around the issue and blaming issues on lackluster staffing is unacceptable. Own the issue and fix it. read more

We had the regular cheeseburger and a garden burger. Both were very yummy. The buns were quite good. They say it's the best burger in town. Unfortunately this was the only burger in Townsend that we tried, but the competition would have to be pretty good to beat it. We enjoyed a side of sidewinders too. What an awesome place! We drove down from Rhode Island to Tennessee for a chance to see the Solar Eclipse in the path of totality. We found upon Apple Valley just the night before and it was more than we ever could've hoped for! Upon arrival, we were greeted with the friendliest of faces and the warmest energy. We ate... more than once at the cafe. The BBQ sandwich was amazing along with the fried pies and even the fudge next door! The adjacent gift shoppes had everything you could've wanted in a TN gift shoppe. The employees across the board were great and the managers at the cafe went out of their way to see how our meal was.. even during such a busy time! This is surely a place we will never forget. Deserves zero stars. Woman running around picks and chooses who she wants to make move chairs and tables back. She is super rude. We were told we couldn't move chairs ( there was 5 of us and we were moving one chair just one) but the people next to us did and she didn't say a word ( a two seat table and a three seat table was two four seat tables and she didn't tell them to move at all but the people that sat after them got told it was a 3 seat table only). Then she is super rude to us the whole stay while she kisses everyone's butt around us. I will tell you one thing I would never ever treat a customer the way she treated my family. She is definitely in the wrong business if she feels that is the way she needs to act, yell, and treat people. I mean she got down right ugly with us and we were the paying customers. If I was the owner I would fire her. She also would not wear her mask correctly at all and even cough one time right behind me. She even took her mask off and got in my dads face yelling. Anyways worst experience and will never go back and would never recommend it to anyone. The food was disgusting too. Was told the chicken salad sandwich was good and it was far from good. The lady asked if I wanted fries and I asked if I could sub for the macaroni for the fries she said yes. I get my receipt and I was charged 5 dollars for the macaroni and she didn't bother to tell me about the up charge. It was terrible experience. Would never recommend it to anyone in the world. The owner of this establishment might need to re-evaluate his help. Also and hour wait for a food which was ridiculous. Plus it was a waste of $32 dollars cause the food was so bad and the shakes are not worth the $6 at all. It's best to keep driving then to stop here to eat. read more

The cooler morning weather has put my husband & I in a mood for fall, and a taste for fresh apples & cider. So, we headed to the Apple Valley Mountain Village. We were so disappointed to discover that they did not have a single apple and no apple cider!! It is nothing but a large tourist gift shop! They do offer 'homemade' fudge for sell, but it looked like it had been made a month ago to us. We headed to the cafe next door and since it was just 11am - they wouldn't let us order breakfast. They don't have anything for vegetarians, so I ordered a cinnamon roll, and my husband ordered a hamburger. The cinnamon roll was tasteless and my husband said his hamburger was nothing great. He said the bun was not fresh or tasty. They do have a 'toppings bar' where you can help yourself, but all the toppings they offered could not make the bun taste better! I think they need to change their name AND get a better chef! read more

The food here is very good and they do have options for vegetarians, but if you are gluten sensitive, this place is not for you. The ambiance here is quite nice and so are the people, but they do not have wifi that is free to visitors. I ordered a veggie burger which was quite good, and there is a fixings bar with many options , including blue cheese and fried onions for burgers. All in all, this is a nice place just to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and have a good meal. read more

We went for lunch on the fourth of July. There were 3 of us. Two of us ordered burgers and fries and the third ordered a garden burger. The burgers were average although the buns were delicious. The fixins bar which is their claim to fame was nothing special. It is tomato season and our county has some great tomatoes right now but the ones there were pale pink and clearly from a restaurant supplier, not local. Fries were average and I wished that I would have gotten another side. My daughter said the garden burger was really good. I also got a fried apple pie which I had never had before. The crust tasted like a lot of flour and old grease. Not good at all. For what we got, it was definitely NOT worth the money. We were hoping we had found a favorite place to go to since we were locals to the area. Will keep searching. read more

Ate there with a party of four for breakfast this past Saturday. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and looks excellent on the inside. Very country feel. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Staff was very friendly. The food was of decent quality, nothing to rave about. My reason for only giving three stars was the price. We spent nearly $40 on breakfast for 4 people at this little cafe. Seemed very pricey considering the quality/quantity of the food. Coffee was very expensive too, which added to the cost. We did not get anything extravagant, just meals and coffee for all. I had the WORST experience imaginable at this place today. I got there at 11am the restaurant was not busy. My husband and I waited 35 minutes for our food (a pimento cheese sandwich and bacon on bread-because they don't even fully make a BLT). I asked for a refund BEFORE I got my food they refused and rushed my food out only for me to get home 2 hours later with food poisoning. I was so sick. This place is terrible, unclean, and the lack of care for their HORRIBLE service was unfathomable. I will never visit this establishment again and no one I know will either! Not great. Loaded fries were cold and soggy. The Appalachian Gumbo had great flavor but was deceptive. A small amount of the really good gumbo was on top of a load of grits. Pulled pork nachos served same way. Good pulled pork served in a crock with tortilla chips on plate around the crock. Very cute restaurant but I could have gone to a drive thru and had better food and service. The party I was with ordered burgers and grilled cheese. The food was cold. I'm surprised the cheese even melted. I ordered a BLT which consisted of 4 pieces of cold bacon and 2 pieces of grocery grade sourdough. For $7.99 this is what I get! No sides just the "sandwich". Any sides you order are a separate charge. They have a condiment bar but when you put a BLT on the menu you should serve a sandwich with bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. Or at least state it's a diy BLT. Not including the rude service I received. The cashier(no waiter/hostess)ROLLED HER EYES when I approached the counter. Apparently you were supposed to be handed a number after your order to take to your table. I was given no number therefore resulting in confusion. A group of friends and I went in for breakfast. We stood waiting at the register for about 5 minutes before even being acknowledged! I ordered a cinnamon roll to share and a breakfast bowl for myself. My cinnamon roll came out lukewarm on the outside and still cold on the inside. The coffee was good, but overpriced, and my breakfast bowl tasted like it was made with GFS sausage patties and frozen home fries. We are not sure why some people have said, "their food is O.K. but no better than back home". We have dined at this place on several occasions and their food is delicious. We have had burgers and breakfast sandwiches and their food is very well prepared and presented. It is certainly not like any food we would find in a big city. The staff are very courteous, kind and very helpful. We can understand the pricing can be a little high because customers are allowed to take as much or whatever toppings they need or want. The issues we have are not the food or friendly staff or even pricing, it's more like the customer service system in place. Since this mostly is a tourist place, there should be a full menu posted outside not just a breakfast menu, also outside there should be a description in large letters what to expect at each station number. When people walk inside they should see large station numbers very clearly marked. We know the restaurant thinks they will make more money with the big round table by the toppings bar, but it would sure speed up the process if the bar was moved to the round table area or any are where customers could serve themselves on both sides of the toppings bar, this would extremely speed up the process. We had four burgers to go and their was a long line waiting for us to finish with our toppings, we felt kind of embarrassed holding up all the people behind us waiting to top their sandwiches. read more

"No, sorry, no exceptions, we stop at 11:00 a.m." Hmmm, why did you offer pancakes to the customers in front of us?? My husband asked if anything on the menu was low sodium. Nope, everything but a cooked-to-order burger has sodium. We waited almost 30 minutes for a grilled chicken sandwich/fries and a chicken salad salad. Not sure what went into that brunch...so, why the wait? Overall, decent food but dirty tables, felt like a cafeteria or fast food restaurant without the, eh, fast food! Definitely, not a $25 meal; certainly don't plan to go back. If ambiance or even a quaint country atmosphere is what you are looking for, you won't find it here. read more

Had a great luncheon there last week. Burger was hand packed 1/3 lb with home grown tomatoes. Went back with husband for lunch today after bragging on how good it had improved. Today though the burgers were plant made patties that were tough and had pink hothouse tomatoes. What a shame there was a farmers market next to it with fresh home grown tomatoes. I understand that they are under new ownership but they were as well last week. No consistency even with same died and they took 25 minutes to get our order. They took this long at the luncheon as well but there was 25-30 women then. There were no orders before us this day so why so long? read more

Seriously way over priced. When we looked at the menu and saw the prices we thought ok, place is very rustically cute, let's give it a try. For $11 per lunch plate we had high expectations. You order right from the counter and they walk the orders out to you. I wish I asked for the cashiers name because she made an off handed remark to the other cashier about the $6 tip my husband added to the total. Sorry but that was extremely rude not to mention it was not a full restaurant. We even had to throw our own waste away so yeah $6 was generous for just taking an order over the counter. My salad was supposed to be on a bed of baby spinach w wild rice on top. Came out w regular lettuce and instant rice. When I asked if they were out of spinach they said yes sorry. They did ask if they could make me something else. My husbands pulled pork sandwich came out on the smallest hamburger bun I've ever seen not to mention there may have been about 2 ounces of meat on it that was mostly fat and gristle aND microwaved. If I seem a little angry I think it's more disappointmentioned that perhaps the place is taking advantage of tourists that come through the area. Either lower the prices to reflect your product or create your dishesto be worthy of the prices. And please dont be rude about the tips!! On a plus note the fries were very tasty. read more
