Customer Service--if you are buying something FANTASTIQUE!!!! 6 stars. Customer Service--if you bought something, and are waiting for it to be fixed or paired with your old computer---ehhhh. Went past their 96 hour window and then some. No apology. No call. Waiting on hold for 20 minutes with no answer. Finally walked in to pick up old computer and new iMac after spending $3000. All I got was Just oops. We tried, and no luck. Well, no evidence they even tried, as my new iMac has nothing transferred from my old HP. Good thing I like Apple products. read more

Three points of contention. 1) Bought iMac in May only to discover unit was the previous years model. 2) Spent one year and five trips to this Genius Bar without defective iMac being successfully repaired. 3) Floor associates are more concerned with following their rules than assisting Customers. Finally recycled unit and purchased a new PC from a non-Apple outlet. Will never again patronize this store. read more

How are people able to purchase Apple products? I'm just curious because this was my first, and last, visit to this particular Apple store. My friends laughed at me when I said I had to stop at the Apple store. I walk in to a sea of people, nothing to direct you on what exactly you have to do to get service, so I hunt down and find an employee and ask how one starts amidst this chaos and I am told to go stand in a certain line. There are people sitting at tables, there are people standing at a back counter, people everywhere. I finally get to the front of the line and get a little tsk for not making an appointment. Fine, I'd like to make an appointment for tomorrow morning. "Our next available appointment is on Sunday." "Walk-in wait time in now 2 hours." As I am walking out of the store, the same perky employee who had directed me to the line asked if I got my appointment. Next available appointment is Sunday ~ 3 days from now. "So we'll see you Sunday." Not a chance. read more

Apple is sitting on $202 billion in cash as I write this review! The Naperville store was exceptional at handling my Apple product purchases but they were woefully inadequate at helping me with my Apple product problem - the reason I was there in the first place. Maybe their attention to purchases over people is why they are sitting on a few hundred billion in cash. Long story but I made an appointment with the genius bar. Got there early. Nice lady told me I was too early and to come back. Came back four minutes before my appointment. Was directed by a man to table 3 and told someone would be with me momentarily. Waited at the table for more than an hour. Every single person who came after me and literally sat next to me on either side, was taken care of while I continued to get passed over. Next time, I won't be so polite and kind. Shame on Apple. With the kind of money you are making, you should be better at helping customers than this. Store manager was quick with apologies but slow with a solution, other than to tell me to wait and I would be the next person in line. Oddly enough, another person was taken care of once again before me. That was the last straw. I told her to take me out of the queue and I left. My experience showed me that at Apple, the customer does not come first, the customers money comes first. An unfortunate example of capitalism at its worst. Yikes! read more

I went in there because my iwatch had a problem where one side would be almost impossible to unclasp a band from the day I bought it and secondly, the battery was lasting like 3-4 hours daily. First, they said my battery passed but it was close to failing & secondly, the only way they were willing to fix it was to trade it in with a used refurbished one for $229, when they had brand new models in the store for $250. Furthermore, the "genius" indicated that my generation of watch won't work with future iPhones, which shows how they're trying to force consumers to buy newer products to make more money & fail from a user-friendly perspective. From someone who only uses Apple products, I thought this was the worst service & my family & I are starting to review other computers, phones, watches and associated gear, so we no longer have to use Apple. They became a monopoly & feel like they can treat their loyal consumers terribly, which I won't stand for any longer. Good luck Apple because I know we're not the only ones frustrated with this abusive rather than helpful behavior! read more

I went in to get a new iPhone and Daniel helped me grab the only one available on the day. I was going to pay for it thru the Apple Card installment plan but my old iPhone was too old and not up to date to show the newly applied Apple Card in the Wallet. Daniel was very patient and resourceful to find ways to help me resolving issues in the process. Even though it was only the second day on his own after training, Daniel had no problem asking for support among his colleagues. It took almost town hour and a team of experienced staff to complete my transaction and never in the process any of them discourage me and asked me to use a different way to pay for the new iPhone or wanting to release the iPhone for the next customer. Finally, I got my new phone and paid it with the way I wanted. It was a unique shopping experience and Apple should be proud to have Daniel who go far and beyond to help a customer. read more

A big rip off. Advertised trading in old iphone and get iphone Xr for $449. Then they tell her phone is too old, and will only give her $150 off the phone. Then when she concedes to that, they tell her that her phone is bent (barely bent, and apple was in a class action suit for iphone 6's bending easily) and say then only give her $50. What should have been a $450 venture ended up costing almost double what we expected to pay. read more

First off...Too much Red tape going on during Covid at this Apple location! A sales rep told my wife and I that we were not allowed to browse In the store! We wanted to take a look at some Apple watches. So I had to tell the sales rep that we we're interested in the watches. While standing "outside" In line a female employee with glasses (I'm guessing a manger) came out and told me to put a mask on!....Really???? I'm standing outside in line and I was more than happy to put a mask once entering the store. She was extremely rude and it seemed like she really enjoyed her unprofessionalism! Always booked and overcrowded! The staff seems to be walking around not doing anything but helping out select people. I had to wait forever for my MacBook Pro pickup. As this is the nearest Apple Store to me, I'm a frequent visitor...whenever my macbook/iPad/iPhone is having an issue. That being said, I typically am not in my happiest of moods upon entering the store, but every time I've visited this store they've been able to assist me quickly, efficiently, with an array of options (aka cost-free or at least cost-effective options), and with a smile! My most recent experience was awkward at the start. I got here right when the store opened hoping to get a walk-in Genius Bar appointment. At first one guy approached me to help, but then said I needed to speak with another guy. I spoke with that guy and he kept rambling on about "when his colleagues come through that door any minute now things will get started" -- I really didn't know what the heck he was talking about and just wanted him to take my name and issue down (which is what I've always done upon entering an Apple Store for an issue). Anyway, eventually someone else got to me (within 10 minutes) and took down my info. Within another 5 minutes a Genius, Mike, approached me to discuss my problem. Mike was AWESOME. He was so helpful, reassuring, patient, and on top of everything he was kind and compassionate. I've had helpful associates at the Apple Store before but never one as nice as Mike! He even stuck around to help with my iPad lagging and cleaned all my devices for me without even asking. He was awesome! And on top of all THAT, he was able to fix my phone and everything has been A+ ever since. I left the store VERY happy that day, all thanks to the friendly, helpful Mike! read more

I went to get my battery replaced. After running the diagnostics, they said that my Apple Pay chip/scanner showed up as "failed", and my battery condition received the lowest possible grade. They only work on phones they can repair 100%, and, of course, the Apple Pay failure is irreparable. Long story short, I can't get my battery replaced because a feature of the phone that I've never used, or have any desire to use, does not work and cannot be replaced. Time to get an android phone! This is obviously a policy issue. The staff was not convincing with their assessment or explanation, and the offer to buy a new iPhone 6S for $299 is not realistic. I have no desire to get a new iPhone. I just paid mine off, and was excited and optimistic that Apple was offering battery replacements. It was too good to be true. I did witness a miserable, entitled woman whine about her wait time. It turns out if you go to a busy store, you may not get immediate service. Be warned! read more

Visited this Apple store once before COVID and the experience was good, just like any other Apple stores in the world. Unfortunately, since COVID started, especially since summer 2021 to date, my experience with this store has not been good. 1. Inconsistent practice at arrival: sometimes they asked you to sign in, sometimes they did not require, sometimes there was a staff helping in getting a specialist to help, sometimes you are on your own to find a staff who is free. Did not get proper greeting and warm welcome consistently each time. 2. In the past, anyone at Apple store was capable of answering all sorts of questions across all products, basic common ones. Unless it's very technical, then they directed you to the Genius Bar, seldom/rarely had to do so. But since Summer 2021, some staff's answers did not make sense, you knew they were making up answers. Sometimes, their product knowledge is limited to 1-2 products. If you have questions on other products, you will need to wait to get another specialist, sometimes the wait could take up 30 minutes. While waiting, you would see many staff standing there idling. For example, today, there were two people helping people to sign in. 20 staff at the store, and probably 5-8 staff were standing idling on average at any given time. My questions today on Mac, iPhone, and iMac were considered generic and the staff should be able to answer them without any trouble, but unfortunately, it was not so. A staff called Tom claimed to be the specialist on Mac couldn't even answer how to activate Microsoft Office subscription on a new Mac if I already have an active subscription with Microsoft. He suggested that I go for Genius Bar to learn more. Worse yet, the answer he provided was the same answer I googled on my own. So how do these staff add value to the entire customer experience? Also, when I asked about product specification information, another staff, Tony, derailed by answering, "it's transportation." I was thinking, "where did that come from? I never mention anything about transportation in my questions." Their attitudes were fine; but just some answers felt ridiculously out of whack, which came them look stupid and clueless. I am surprised Apple Retail store quality has gone down so much since COVID; this store is an embarrassment to Apple. read more

I had an awesome experience in this Apple Store. My phone's hardware was broken and I wasn't sure what was going on so I came to this location to see what was happening and how I could get it fixed. I did have to wait a while to get help, however, when I did get help, the sales person was so kind to me. I don't remember her name who help me :( but she was the best! A+++ customer service and had things run quick and smoothly! Wish I remembered her name because if I had another problem, I would definitely request her! read more

They erased all my data without asking for permission when I specifically told them at the time I was giving the phone that I don't want any data removed and they told me that they'll contact me if that's needed before removing anything. They regardless wiped my phone clean. I did not have all my data backed up and now I've lost years worth of photos, videos. When I spoke with the store manager, they told me that everyone who gives them a phone signs a waiver that gives them permission to wipe data clean. But I specifically told them not to and they specifically told me that they'll contact me if that's needed. Now the manager and the customer support is just telling me that you didn't read the waiver before signing so its my fault. Yeah, its my fault to go there in the first place. Such a shame that a company like Apple treats its customers like this. read more

Well it's your typical Apple store. You can come in and just play around with the products before you purchase them but chances are you already know what you want before you come in. In case you need help, there is always someone available and willing to assist. If your coming in for a repair or technical issues on a product you already own, its best to make an appointment. They do take walk-ins but the wait can be hours depending on how busy they are. I've been to other Apple stores and service is very similar. Employee seem to enjoy their job and really seem to know the products. I would strongly recommend this location. read more

OK, I'll offer a bit more after a few years. As I got sucked into the Apple ecosystem and Steve Jobs passed, I think some things have changed for the better. The people Apple hires now are a lot nicer than they used to be.... there was always a certain arrogance emanating from this place. The "Genius Bar" is still a misnomer, but they can help you get stuff fixed if it's not hardware related. Why only 3 stars still? Appointments at aforementioned Genius Bar are rarely kept... I don't have an extra hour to wait, especially when I know that I'm there because of a hardware problem that can't be fixed in store. I troubleshoot all my own IOS issues so for me I only need hardware support. Prices are high (obviously) compared to Amazon for accessories. Biggest improvement though is definitely in terms of the staff and their willingness to be empathetic and technically capable. I still don't like coming here (I would prefer to send stuff directly rather than wait in line at the store) but when you do talk to someone they are trained and know what to do, and do it while being nice. read more

I don't like getting Apple products from sellers other than an Apple store. So I went to one in Naperville to buy a replacement airpod with my brother who lost one of his. I even booked an appointment so there will be no long wait. But seriously apple geniuses, do we have to talk to three people, A welcome host, a roving manager, both of whom "took information to facilitate the process," and finally a technician., who took more information. It's okay if these information was for the security of the accessory, but wait 45 minutes to buy a replacement airpod? I then asked her if she can pair the new airpod, she said I have to do it at home as it takes 30 minutes to adjust to the firmware. NO it does not. When I got home, I paired the new airpods in less than 10 minutes. Hey Genius, if you want to get rid of us fast, you don't have to give us lame excuses. we were eager to leave the store too, We are not technically challenged. We just wanted to see if you can do your job right! Your excessive bureaucracy and adherence to rules and formalities does not make you live up to your corporate appointed title as a "Genius." As a handicapped person who owns 4 Apple products (iPhone, IPod, iPad, imac) I feel they no longer value my business. I need to sit if I am going to be in there any length of time. The stools provided are the most uncomfortable made. You would think they'd want the customer looking at devices and making decisions but I don't think they do. And I had an appointment which should never have been made since the reps on the phone knew it couldn't be repaired by them. I felt like our customer service rep at the store just wanted to get me out as fast as possible. Horrible experience today. read more

Nice place with very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Location right in the heart of Naperville.

Let me start off by saying I'm a major yelp user, but never actually take the time to write reviews. My experience here was so awful that I'm going to leave one. Bought a 6S from these guys over a year ago. Suddenly phone won't boot up, stuck in boot cycle. Brought it in and they told me I was out of warranty and they could "swap" for a new one of $299. Um what?? They want me to pay for their own manufacturing defects? On top of that, they offered no advice as to how to repair the phone. Just hooked it up to a basic diagnostic tool, that apparently told them nothing. Went home, flipped on a YouTube video, fixed the phone myself in under an hour. Turned out a battery cable came loose. Amazing that a store filled with 50 employees couldn't do something to help me. Advice: avoid these guys like the plague if you need any repair work and may be out of warranty. read more

They did a smooth job getting me in. But the concerning part is that when marking the condition of the phone, they automatically write "with scratches." They did this without even inspecting the phone. When asking where there are scratches they just pointed around the phone randomly. I asked for a specific area of a scratch that couldn't be wiped off with a finger. Unable to do. Manager came and pointed to something then wiped off with her finger. Then made excuse that there are specks of normal usage and they would change the wording. I asked why they just put scratches on all orders and she said they have to. She just wanted to talk and not listen that it's ultimately inappropriate to do that for all phones coming in. Manager was more focused on me listening to her spill out the company line rather than hearing me out on why it's not appropriate. Basically they didn't like to be called out on this. The Genius Bar rep was nice and she really is not at fault. But the manager wanting me to buy her line of bull and then to wipe off a fake scratch and not even own up to things, and wanting me to continue to listen to more bull was super annoying. Seems to me this is a top down issue with this store. read more

I had an iPhone 5 that was really on its last leg - I got my moneys worth for sure and finally decided it was time. I found parking no problem and went into the store around 4:00 - it was somewhat busy. When I got in they check you in as you walk in to find out what you need/want. Then said it would be about 20 minutes. OK ....well about 40 minutes later I was about to walk out - I'm here to spend money! There were 3 people standing around to check people in - drop 2 of those check in people and add more sales people. You only need 1 person to check people in. My sales person - I think his name was Chris was GREAT. He was nice, knew a lot about the products, services, etc. Overall I was happy with the experience except for the wait. Suggestion - less employees standing around chatting among each other with their clipboards and more people working or selling the products. read more

The Oakbrook Apple Store and the Naperville Apple store are equa-distant from my house. And by equa distant, I mean they are both a good 30-45 minute drive in normal traffic. However, I used to try to make all efforts to go to the Naperville store because of the bigger location and less crowds. That has all changed. I went in with a genius bar appointment because the screen on my 7 month old MacBook Pro had a burn on it. This was maybe the 6th repair necessary since I bought the darn thing (but that's besides the point as it's a product complaint and not a store complaint). So, I waited around because even though you make an appointment they are always 5-10 minutes late to see you. So I show the guy my screen and he says, yeah, it has a burn in it, let's order the part. I ask him a little bit about how the repair is going to go down and he says I'll have to bring it back and leave it overnight. So I stop him right there and ask, "Is there anyway you can do it while I wait?" Maybe I'm a bitch, or too impatient, but I'm not going to drive my still NEW (under 1 year) computer: 30-45 minutes to be diagnosed 30-45 minutes home 30-45 minutes to be dropped off 30-45 minutes home 30-45 minutes to be picked up 30-45 minutes home ___________________________ 180-270 minutes total of driving So the guy is really nice about it after I explain the situation and he says they'll make it work for me and repair it while I wait. The part, he says, will come in over the weekend and they'll call me by Monday. A week and a half later someone phones me to tell me the part is in and I can make an appointment. I explain to them what this guy told me and they deny deny deny. "We cannot service a computer while you wait in store. Our repairs are done at night. So after talking to a million representatives and a manager, they re-agree to service the computer while I wait. I make an appointment to drop off the computer on a Saturday morning and they state it will be ready by 2 p.m. So I drop it off and kill some time around downtown Naperville. Then 2 p.m. rolls around. It's not ready yet. Okay, I'm a little more than irked but just, okay. What else am I going to do about it? I voiced my dissatisfaction about how this is a new computer and it shouldn't be broken in the first place and they told me they'd have it ready by 2 p.m., but I have no other choice than to leave it with them because it's in pieces in the back room. (I had to leave at this point because I had a work appointment at 3 p.m. back in Downers Grove.) So, whatever, life goes on. They call me back at 7 p.m. to come pick it up. A little off on their 2 p.m. estimate. I drive back out there, pick it up. Woohoo! New screen. Here is where the 1 star review comes in- WITHIN 5 DAYS, THE SCREEN BROKE AGAIN! THIS TIME PAST A USEABLE POINT! I brought it to Apple Store Oakbrook and they confirmed it was a labor issue and the Naperville Store did not do the repair properly. I have a magical power. Flying? It's been done. Invisibility? Over it. Super-strength? So bourgeois. No, friends, my magical power is the ability to break any and all laptop power cords. I don't know what exactly I do, but they are useless against me. If a giant MacBook power cord began attacking New York, I would kick its ass, Sea Bass. That's how effective I am at killing power cords. So, predictably, Power Cord #3 began its slow descent to the grave a couple weeks ago. I delayed the inevitable for as long as possible, went through the five stages of grief, etc., until Acceptance kicked in and I made an appointment to get a new one. My appointed Genius (Ryan? Robert? Something like that) was punctual, friendly, and quickly assessed that my power cord was indeed dead as a doornail.
