This is my go to Apple Store and I wish to give them credit for the honest and friendly service I've received. Apple Stores all share similar look & feel so the Metrotown location has been my solid choice def not for ambiance but for its convenient parking and reliable service. Yes, it can be a busy storefront on weekends so I usually opt to visit during the week if possible. One may not find every representative that works there making eye contact; but I have had no issues each time I visited the store pre-Covid and no complaints on my recent visits post pandemic. You can always make an advance service appointment instead of waiting in line at the Genius Bar for an Apple staff to approach you. iPad & iPhone - I shall continue to adore thee as long as there's honest service from an Apple Store close by... read more

No complaints about the store here. They do their job. The difference is I did not see anyone standing by the door now to check you in. Usually in Apple stores there will be someone to check the purpose of your visit and direct you to the right section. Not this time. I just wandered in and try to find a staff who was not busy with a customer. I made the appointment online for battery replacement. It took about 2 hours before I could get my phone back. They took a bit longer than what was stated. So give yourself time to wait if you're here for repairs or servicing. Check out the new phones and products. read more

I recently bought a new iPhone from the Richmond Apple Store. They were friendly, but the minute the transaction on my Visa was done, I had difficulty with the customer service staff and manager on the questions I have regarding using my new iPhone. I left frustrated as they where not helpful and were more interested in aggressively selling more new products such as a charger etc. One of the customer service was even telling me about a great promotion when there wasn't any. After a week, I was going to return the iPhone to the Metrotown Apple store, but was incredibly surprised by how happy and helpful all the staff were. The tech people were knowledgeable about the products and answered my questions. If I have the chance to go back to an Apple Store, I would travel further to the Metrotown. They seem to have more skilled people in technology and the Apple products. read more

In all honesty, this post is a little overdue! I have had really positive experiences while visiting this Apple location and while it always seems like one of the busiest, my interactions here with staff have been the most pleasant. I really failed to ask for names the first 3 times from my encounters but I *think* one was Sam (taller Chinese associate with an affinity for photos/nature shots - as he was showing me the iPhone 12 camera) another was deaf and she was a delight to work with but I didn't catch her name (sales associate: 2319789727 - please let me know if you want me to remove that code I just hope it can give credit where it's due), and Vivian W who was a real delight to speak with! They all had amazing customer service and made me feel more than a transaction or purchasing customer even when I wasn't buying anything. Word of warning, walk in appointments are hard (anywhere likely) so I recommend booking an appointment before you check in at a store or prepare to wait at the mall before someone is available to help you! Kindness goes a long way and I'll remember how this store has made me feel as an Apple user. read more

I had previously dropped off my daughter's macbook air for repair. Apparently I needed to do this because she is 17 years old. I let them know that i understood the screen was being replaced and I was fine with the cost. A few days later I get an email "Thank you for bringing your apple product to apple metrotown for repair... Your product is ready -- you can pick it up anytime... We look forward to seeing you (and your photoid)." I spend an hour in traffic and wait my turn only to be told they need authorization for the cost of repair. They explained they tried to call (there was a record on my cell phone of one call from metrotown apple and no message). They refuse to say their email is misleading and tell me this is my fault for not answering the phone. Why would such a sophisticated company not have the ability to email you and say "...your product is NOT ready for pick up. Call us for cost authorization". Unbelievably frustrating. I'll now spend a THIRD afternoon dealing with this. Their staff appear remarkably tone deaf to the frustration of misleading emails and wasted afternoons. If they had just said -- "Yup we screwed up. Came here to visit a Genius after discovering a problem with something I bought. This location has to be the busiest one in the Vancouver area - it is an absolute war zone. Both the parking, and the store itself. I checked in with the Genius coordinator and waited around. 10 minutes later, he tells me I was sitting at the wrong table. What? Good thing I checked, or I would've simply missed my appointment. The Genius was very friendly and helpful. I like how they can keep their cool even when bombarded with hordes of inquisitive customers. Special mention goes to their on-the-spot diagnostic systems - they can check for piles of problems right there. Most importantly, the product exchange went flawlessly. read more

If I could give this piece of shit no stars I would. The staff is unbelievably uneducated, and should probably be trained properly- this is not their fault. Fault probably would fall under the team leader Derrick. I walked into Apple unsure if my warranty was still valid or if my watch's issue even would be covered- the girl helping me checked and told me I was covered because the only reason it would cost me money would be if I used a 2nd party modification or if there was a liquid other than water in it. Told me I'd get my watch back within 5 days. SURE. SHIP IT OUT. 2 weeks later I get an email (so you already fucked up the timing) telling me it's a $400 fix because it's a "port error". No I'm not fucking paying that when it's covered. Send it back to me. They never contacted me and then tell me it's at some staples near my house...sure buddy. So I take my happy ass to staples so at this rate I could just take my stupid fucking Apple product to crystal mall to get it fixed and be done with it. STAPLES DIDN'T HAVE IT. I get yet another email about a week later. Mind you THERE IS NO FUCKING NUMBER TO CALL AND SPEAK TO A HUMAN. Now it's the week before Christmas and I go all the way inside of metrotown to get this stupid broken product back and it was revolting how busy it was. Sat there for a good 20 minutes for buddy to tell me they didn't have my watch (: .... And that staples had it. SO I GO BACK TO STAPLES. they didn't have it (shocking I know.). Very helpful Apple Store (most of the time, not always). There are lots of people working at this Apple store. So when you have a question they are quite helpful assuming its a easy questions . If its hardware failure and you need something fix then you would have to go through a technician which means you need to make an appointment. I usually make an appointment online and not in the store. (Save myself a special trip). This Apple Store is located inside Metrotown, which means that plenty of parking available downstairs and outside. read more

So my girlfriend and I just went to this store to buy a apple watch strap and were extremely offended by a staff (caucasian male with glasses) as he shouted to us not to pull out the displayed apple watch. Obviously we ruined our day since he never properly explained why and never apologized his rudeness and went straight back to the customer he was helping. Where to begin... ok, first off, walking into the store the first guy hits you with "what is your name?" Then he proceeds to completely check out, attention wise, after I say my name clearly to the point where he has to ask again. He gets to talk to the hand after that as I move in further to try to find the level after reception. Next guy has the simple task of retrieving the item they have that I've already purchased. All he has to do is look at my ID to verify I am the correct person, and give me a receipt for my $4200 purchase. This is too much for him to process and he implodes with a bunch of nonsense about how I have to cancel my order and do the whole thing over again with all the same information. #repeatfail Finally, third kid aka "sales lead" tries to cover for lack of CS by saying that the boys and girls on the floor are limited as to what they know about Apple's products and order processing, in contrast to what I was told about picking up my order from a guy on the phone earlier, claiming to work there, that I could show up with my ID and pickup my paid for item. I came with a password issue that prevented me from using my iPad. Staff was friendly and very diligent. My problem was solved in 20 minutes or so by a knowledgeable and friendly member of the staff. First a pro tip. DO NOT STAND IN LINE, just try to enter the store and the instantly book you a spot to enter. I on the other hand stood inline like a sucker watching people go ahead or be taken from the back of the line to the front just crazy. I was there to look at the new Apple 6 watch and they recorded that. Apparently they use that information to match you up with somebody that knows nothing about them. She said the only difference between the 6 and the SE was the screen. When I pointed out a couple of other differences on HER screen she just shrugged. The best part was when I asked to look at one she said they didn't have any but she could help me order one online. I am a fan of the Apple store and more specifically wonder why other retailers have not stopped treating everyone like shoplifters and allow shelf checkout as well. Being able to walk in, pick something off the shelf, scan it with your phone, pay for it, and walk out is wonderful. I went to Apple Metrotown today to get them to repair or replace the EarPods since the left one was quiet. They said it was ok by putting them into their ear. I disagreed since it was a false statement and I was having problems hearing from the left ear piece. The EarPods was covered under the warranty for my iPhone 11 Pro Max. In turn, the employee was selling me Apple care and was saying if something happens to the phone, we have to pay $800. I never expected this kind of service from Apple. I expected better service for $1500. Anyways, there was a woman beside me that had an issue with her charger. The store manager was talking loudly with her saying that the charger has been "physically damaged". The woman stated that the charger has became unusable since it didn't charge her phone after two to three months after buying her phone. I asked the woman which phone she had. She said iPhone 11. In short, so don't waste your time going in this Apple store as the service is garbage and the manager is an asshole, along with its employees. read more

Today my phone quit charging I went by skytrain thinking they would help me yeah right oh you have to make an appointment I said I need my phone too bad you need an appointment ! I had my battery changed for my iPhone with a body that was in mint condition. I received my iPhone came back with a new battery in mint condition with nothing scratched or damaged and all my data intact with nothing missing or deleted. The staff even warned me that your data could get deleted if you didn't back up your iPhone. I was looking to sign up for a new Fido plan and get a new iPhone with the deal but because I didn't have a BC license they said "we can't do anything for you" and I asked why it's a free market? I am Canadian why can't I buy a product in Canada? He said with attitude "we are not here to talk about that with you, we can't help you, you are just going to have to leave and talk to the provider" so not only was I rudely turned away and not treated like a human being, I wasted my time to go all the way to the Apple Store to not be helped or figure out any way around it since I own property in BC and I pay taxes here yet they turned me away. We had a terrible customer service with the technical support manager whose name is "Brian?". My wife purchased an iPhone 12 sixteen months ago (less than 2 years). Now there is an issue occurring very often. The phone suddenly could not make a phone call and receive a call without any warning. Since the phone was purchased from Metrotown Apple store and we are a loyal customer for more than decade (we bought our iphone 4, 5, 6 and 10 from the same store), so we went to this store for technical support. A junior staff diagnosed the phone and said it could be wrong with the hardware of the iphone 12. It needs repair the hardware and the repair will cost more than $599. We are completely shocked. The iPhone 12 was purchased from this store 16 months ago and it is always in good care. It never gets damaged or fall on ground. How could the hardware get damaged. Plus even when the iphone could not make a phone call or receive a call, the problem could be solved by switching off and on. We believe it could be a software issue, but not hardware issue. If it is a hardware issue, the phone would not be working properly even it was switched on or off. We wanted to have a second opinion and requested the technical manager to look at this issue. The "Brian" manager came out and asked us why. We repeated our question and doubted that it may be a hardware issue with our phone. We expected that he will do a professional service by checking the phone. It was so surprised to hear that he just said the phone is out of warranty and must pay for repair. We questioned him that this is an apple iPhone and it is a reputable electronic product. How could the hardware be damaged just less than 2 years? He seems not having any confidence about the product sold by the store he represents, and insisted it is out of warranty and it must be paid for the repair. He even threatened us by escorting us out of store if we questioned him more. What a kind service does he provide to customer? We never encountered such rude and non- professional service. On contrast, the junior staff was professional and provided excellent service. How can this manager have such terrible attitude and set up a very bad example for his staff? read more

Had a 4:15 appointment today to have my battery replaced, for free because it had that awesome factory defect that caused it to die randomly. Courteously I arrived a little early, got myself 'checked in' and proceeded to wait patiently for over an hour. I inquired about the wait as I'd been watching other folks come and go for a while, but was basically shrugged at and told they didn't know how long the wait would be. Finally someone else came up to check on me, and discovered that my appointment had been cancelled! He tried to make it right and told me I was next in the list. 15 minutes go by, and I'm greeted by the least customer service oriented individual I've ever encountered, which is weird because usually they are pretty helpful. She's not sure if my battery is in stock. I'm flabbergasted as this is why I made the appointment, which they must be aware of because I was given specific instructions how to prepare for it... Finally confirmed it's in, but It'll be a 3 hour wait. Apple gets a half star for replacing the defective for free and the other half for only making me wait 20 mins after my pick up time to give me my phone back. 5 hours at Metrotown is kinda like being abducted by aliens. 5 hours I won't get back, and oddly painful memories I can't seem to quite remember. read more

I came to pick up my iPhone 7 on the opening day and needed to buy a second one for someone else although I reserved only one. I could not get them at the same time and had to redo the queue for the second iPhone. I usually visit the Pacific Centre location but I found myself at Metrotown and desperately needing a charger cable for my phone. I grabbed my cable and went to look around for a Genius to help me out. They were all busy with customers so I waited and walked around the store for a couple of minutes hoping to catch someone finishing with a customer so I could grab them but no luck. I noticed that at the genius bar, they had the debit/credit terminals and two Geniuses who just finished with customers standing there talking. So I walked up to one of them, he asked me if he could help me, I said I wanted to ring up my purchase by debit. He makes a grab for the terminal then he reaches his arm back and tells me, "you know what, this is just for technical support. If you go over to any of the other guys in the blue shirts, they'll help you out." Then he walks away to talk to his coworker again! I never really receive amazing customer service at Apple for a regular shopping trip nor do I expect it given that it's always so busy. But having to find someone so I could buy something shouldn't have to be such an ordeal. I actually went to the Apple store today in Washington, in Southcentre Mall, on BLACK FRIDAY and I had someone greet me, someone ask me if I needed help and someone that greeted me goodbye when I left. I think Metrotown can at least ring up a customer. Oh and as for my charger cable, I ended up buying it at another store. My tips for the Apple store: Like i said, I don't expect amazing service for a regular shopping trip. I've received great service 2/ 3 times I've gone for tech support. It all really depends on who you get to help you. You could have a horrible guy like the guy I mentioned above or you can get someone who's willing to bypass normal procedures for you. If you need tech support, do reserve time online! Especially if you need help with an iMac or a Macbook. Last thing you want is to bring it in and no one's available to help for two hours or they're fully booked. The site to book appointments also lets you know of upcoming free workshops you can go to. When you come into the store to buy a product their service is very good. I love Apple products and own and have owned many. Long story short: Feeling buyers remorse for buying a $35 case to protect my $600 iPad mini, also shocked at the kind of service; which did not reflect the kind of service I'd received when I purchased my iPad from this location last May. ------------------------------ However, the kind of service I did receive on Jan. 6th was the exact opposite of the service I received when I purchased my iPad mini last May from this location. The previous day I was at the Oakridge location shopping with my Mom, helping her to shop/buy an iPad mini 3. She wanted to see how the smart cover worked and I had my iPad mini with me. As I was taking it out of my hard shell Speck case the case snapped all this happening in front of the associate who was helping my Mom. Let me just say that "yes I know the I was the one who broke it and I know they're not at fault". The next day Jan. 6th 2015 I went into the Apple store where I'd purchased my hard case. I went to the accessory wall to see what cases they had and noticed that they no longer carry the Speck cases. I approached a group of techs ( I assume they were techs they were all carrying iPads) that were talking to each other, and waited until they'd finished before I spoke. I approached them because all other associates seemed to be busy with other customers and only had a question to ask. The tech associate I did speak with was not receptive to any thing I had to say. When I approached him the expression on his face and body posture reflected the kind if service and response I got. I had at first asked him about warranties re: Speck hard shell cases then, I explained briefly what had happened the day before trying not to make it sound like a sob story. When I had finished explaining what had happened, he was still showing the same expression and body posture as when I first approached him. His response to me " not our product not our problem". I was not expecting a hug or pat on the back for sympathy or pitty. I certainly didn't expect to guffaw at the response I got. What I was hoping once I explained what had happened is to may be get some kind of rebate on a replacement hard shell case that I knew Apple Store online is still carrying for $35. The cases they had on shelf were a bit pricy and it being just after the holidays was not expecting to shell out another $50+ for a new case. read more

I went in to visit a friend who worked at the Apple store and left with an iPhone 5. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? I was planning on waiting until after the holidays anyways, but still. I got trapped in the hype. The hype of red shirts, all smiling and being so helpful and knowledgeable; the hype of all the shiny gadgets surrounding me; the hype of finding the perfect iPhone case then just HAVING to see what it looked like on the phone. I've purchased a few things at the Apple Store over the years...and while I could have gone to Rogers or Best Buy or just gotten it delivered to my door, the appeal of the Apple Store is that they are all smart apples. They know their product, the pros and cons, and I have never once felt pressured to make a purchase. They just really believe in their products and I always feel like I'm making an informed (if not sometimes impulsive) purchase. After I got my phone, they even open up the box with you to help you set it up. I'm sure it's a thrill for them, the same way a doctor feels when they deliver a new baby. Okay, I am an Apple geek... maybe even a little bit obsessed. Everything from the 1st generation iPod nano to the newest i7 MacBook Pro, I kinda have it all. When it comes to the products themselves, I love it, until something goes wrong... My review comes after many problems in which I have dished out thousands of dollars for items that are still under their "warranty" and have not been serviced. Also, a measly phone call to their tech support about setting my phone up costed me $35. First I visited the store to visit the genius bar where I had made an appointment. They were so booked that I had to wait 45 minutes to see someone. My computer had crashed for no particular reason after having only bought it three months ago. I had a feeling that it was the hard-drive and expected them to change it since it was under warranty. Guess what? I was forced to pay nearly 1K for a new fancy hard-drive since they thought that it was not a manufacturers defect. That is what they all say. The worst part was thtat I had not backed up my computer for a while. Let's just say I am a sucker who just wants to keep up with technology, perhaps the Samsung Galaxy III instead of the iPhone 5? I am noticing a disturbing trend with Apple Stores where service is declining and bad attitude on the part of the employees is not uncommon. Even blatantly providing misinformation on tech, and even something so simple like not admitting that there is s new iPhone X coming in a few weeks or a few months when there will be. Why not just say that you aren't allowed to admit that the new device is coming in the near future? The appropriate comment to say is "we have no official information from Apple" at this time". Some (but few) w Apple employees who have some integrity do say that, but many will not. Sadly, the genius reps seem to be floating around different locations and your experience will vary. I've had some top notch reps who know their stuff, are courteous, and live up to to the ethics, values, and mission statement of Apple, while others are just using scripted ad hoc material while seemingly communicating like robots. Many of the genius reps don't know the technical aspects of the device and seem to be very narrow minded. There is no consistency on the repair or replacement process either. On one occasion, the rep didn't know how I got the signal strength to display on my phone (there is a diagnostic screen, duh), another time I had to escalate my issue to Apple Customer Support who ordered them to replace my defective Apple device. And on another occasion, they gave a replacement device at no charge when one was damaged by breaking even though the owner didn't have the optional accidental repair plan. As far as buying multiple devices, they seem to not care either. That's why hoarders are selling the devices online at grossly inflated prices. Once again, I think this review applies to all Apple locations. While Apple isn't Samsung in terms of warranty support, they are not the same Apple from several years ago (since Jobs passed). read more

Genius Bar not so genius! I went to the store a few days ago to have my iPhone X looked at. The phone is almost 3 years old and out of warranty. The screen was starting to left away from the body. The screen was 100% functional. There not a scratch or crack on this phone. And on my research prior to going into the store, I'm pretty sure it was a case of swollen battery. First guy that greeted me and examine the phone, right away he said it's swollen battery. But told me that they don't replace batteries so I will have to pay $700 for a new unit. That's a lot of money which I don't have. Then he asked the Manager Derrick to look at the phone, and Derrick says it's a display issue so quote me on display repair which is $365. But my display is not broken! Then a 3rd guy came by, he also said it's swollen battery, and I can get a new refurbished unit for the price of battery replacement which is only $89. I'm like, yeah! That sounds excellent. But they REFUSED to let me pay the $89, unless I sign and commit to the $365 display replacement, in case they break the screen when they open it up to confirm it's swollen battery. And they also refused to just give me the phone back as is if by chance it's not swollen battery. I can get a new screen via 3rd party for $160. Anyway, they are so ridiculous that they refuse to fully assess the problem unless I sign for a $365 repair, which I don't believe I need as my screen is 100% functional. I then took the phone to 2 other places which they say immediately it's swollen battery. I then called Apple Support and the representative agreed that it's sounds very likely it's swollen battery. They booked me into another Apple Store (Oakridge) to have the phone looked at again. Went to the Oakridge store today, the staff there brought the phone into the repair area in the back, came out within 3 mins and confirmed it's swollen battery. I paid $89 and got a phone replacement right away. Typing this review on the new phone. People in the lower mainland with Apple product problems... DON'T BOTHER WITH THE METROTOWN STORE! You have options so go to other ones. The Metrotown store seemed to not know much about their own products! read more

I am a huge Apple fan and pretty much have every kind of Apple product there is and because of that my girlfriend is always telling me that I should be a spokesperson for Apple lol. Love this store. They were very helpful, I just recently purchased a 27 inch iMac, and when I set it all up, the camera didn't work at all and called Apple and they walked me through some steps and tried restoring it and nothing worked but, they told me to bring it to Apple store and they exchanged it and they were very helpful and friendly. What would you say if you have bought an expensive apple phone paying cash n it start giving problem after 6 months??? No that not yet done. You go to get it fixed n u are asked to come early hours so that there is less wait ok so u guys cant hire more technicians as if people dont need job. 1 thing i don't understand that why the hell does they get good reviews n ratings when the phones n other devices are always problematic the more i write , the more my bp is going up. Bottom line avoid buying apple products . I hav apple phn , macbook , imac n all the shit i could get my hold on as i wanted to be in status for buying apple products. Worse Apple store I've ever been to! The security guards in front were not helpful at all. About 6 of them and not one looked like they knew what they were doing: Although I have about every Apple product that exists, this experience has been Awful and I will think twice before I buy my next Apple device. If management reads this, you guys definitely need to work on this locations. read more

Made an appointment to shop for 10:00 am Saturday morning as it fit my schedule. 8:00 Saturday morning I get a reminder about my 10:00 appointment. 8:30 am, I get a new appointment time and my 10:00 time is cancelled without my authorization. When I call in to inquire, I can't even connect with anyone until my call gets disconnected. read more
