It was locked by a magnetic key and three clerks who were just standing or chatting leaning on the counter didn't help at all. Not enthusiastic and not helpful. The guy helped me...tried to help me didn't know how to unlock either. Unbelievable.

I still think this place takes up way too much space for what it offers but it is the next best…read morething when you want an electronics store and you are in Metrotown. On any given time there is a ton of staff that work here and are willing to help. This store is big, and has a lot of foot traffic pass in front of it, most people are either taking the escalator to the parkade, or walking to Superstore. They have some computeres, notebooks, tablets, headphones, a minor selection of tv's, weird radio controlled toys, video games, batteries (from the Radio Shack days!), cell phones (and a cell rep that is waiting to sign you up), odd peripherals like usb keys, external hard drives, odd connector cables, and that's just naming a few things they have. The Source has never been my first stop, as I find their stuff more expensive than most places that have a wider selection, this store is really about convenience, it is located right in Metrotown afterall. The staff is pretty helpful, but a warning to those people who don't like to talk to anyone, this store is not for you, and someone will greet you once you walk through the entrance.

The store clerk didn't seem to understand what I was asking for; he kept showing me a wrong cable and insisting that it was the right one (it wasn't -- he doesn't seem to understand the difference between a female USB and a male USB, which is not rocket science, and he also didn't understand the difference between a data transfer cable and OTG). It took me five times explaining to him before he actually listened instead of just patronizing me as if I didn't know what I was asking for. I would not come here again unless 1) I wanted someone to talk to me like I was a toddler or 2) I want to talk to someone who ignores all the words coming out of my mouth and just waits his turn to reiterate the same thing based on the first three words I say. I also would never trust a repair job of any technology I cared about to these people -- based on what I observed of their lack of basic expertise and talk-down-to-you bedside manner, Pacific Repair is an excellent candidate for doing 'half-ass repairs because we think you don't have the expertise to know better'. Better value for new components at NCIX, better value on used parts at Free Geek, and better value & peace of mind for repair jobs at the Hackery.

I had a laptop issue so I went to this shop to get it repaired. I explained the problem which was…read moregetting the blue screen of death whenever I was running heavy software. He suggested that the problem was to do with my SSD. He let me know he will repair it and replace the SSD with a new one with more GB over the weekend and install Windows 10 on it and have my system boot up to the new SSD he installed while my old SSD acted as a hard drive so I can transfer old data I had to the new SSD. Got my computer back and I was happy with it for a month as my ram usage was down and it felt like it was performing better. However, my computer started to have the same issues again but it got even worse to the point where I would get the blue screen of death right away after I just started my computer. So I decided to go to Jon's Computer Repair near my local area and I dropped off my laptop there. An hour later he calls me saying that he opened my laptop and checked my motherboard and he found out that the SSD the MIT computer repairs person installed was a cheap Chinese SSD that he does not recognize and the way someone installed it was horribly done and it looks like someone who doesn't know how to repair computers has done this job. He also let me know that the cause of the problem was a RAM issue, not an SSD and I should be using the old and better SSD that I already had when I bought the laptop. So he reverted it back so that my laptop boots up to my old SSD and removed the cheap Chinese SSD. He also cleaned up a lot of dust that was there which the MIT Computer owner never cleaned up even though another cause of the problem was a lot of old dust can overheat the laptop which leads to the blue screen of death. He also checked my RAM and ran tests and removed unnecessary software that was taking up a lot of my RAM. After that, I watched tutorials on how to put a new memory stick onto my laptop and just did it myself and my computer has been performing so much better with no issues. Don't go to this guy since he actually made my computer worse with a low-quality SSD, installed Windows 10, and charged me 180 dollars. Told us he can take either cash or credit but doesn't charge tax for cash (Obviously trying to avoid his taxes). He also asked if I don't use my laptop anymore, he would take my laptop for the parts as he said the hardware quality like memory and CPU was really good. Makes you wonder why he would replace the SSD with a lower-quality Chinese SSD from AliExpress.
