Ugh...I despise coming in this store. The whole system from checking, giving your name Tiger on a list, in to waiting for some grade A hipster with the brains of a newt to "help" you, to the crappy customer service and awful checkout process, makes my eye twitch! We came in today to buy a MAC Book Pro, set of AirPods Pro, & package of 4 Air tags. We were "greeted" more like halted by a customer service representative, asked our names to be put on a list. We then wandered to the MACBook pro to wait to be helped. 2 associates asked if we were being helped. We explained we just wanted to buy the computer, air pods and air rags and leave. Nope still had to meander while at least 5 apple D-bags wander aimlessly doing nothing but sucking in air. Then finally someone figured out we wanted to spend a good amount of money and decided to help us. The next wreck was we have military ID for the discount and we have a tax exempt letter. Well you CANNOT get military discounts in the store! Only online purchase qualifies for military discount. So, even though we are ordering online to pick up where we are exactly standing now...they will not override this process. Next they don't quite know how to apply the tax exempt letter to online purchases so we have to send them an email to reimburse us the tax. To say that I'm skeptical about ever seeing this money returned to us is an understatement. The entire process is a joke. This company is infuriating and I question why we buy their over priced technology. Yet here we are, buying a computer for our daughters 18th birthday and college. You will not get your phone serviced or fixed here the day you go even if you have an appointment. Awful service. Made an appointment and drove all the way there to get my battery replaced. Was told I had to make another appointment because "people don't always know what they need". They finally admitted they didn't have time to replace the battery. Was told to I have to go back another day and drop off the phone for two hours. Am I supposed to waste an entire week to get a battery replaced because of your staffing issues? No apologies. We came to look at the apple watches for my daughter. An employee just showed us to the case the watch faces and bands. That was it for customer service. Customer service at Summit Mall is always hit and miss. You either feel welcome and have wonderful customer service, or you feel like the employees are judging you, or you get no service at all. The employee did show us the cases but he didn't seem to care whether or not we made a purchase. He didn't seem happy with his job. I felt this store was lacking happy, caring, and service-oriented employees. Product is not always the reason customers purchase an item. I can order off of Amazon and get better service. My husband and I have just returned home from the Reno store after wasting $1000 and an hour of our time! Because the store is conveniently located at the exact opposite end of Washoe County from where we live, we decided to visit the store on our way home from California about 6:00 this evening. Upon our arrival at the store we expressed an interest in purchasing an I pad and scheduled a service appointment to assist with problems with the I phone and I pods my husband purchased for me earlier this year. The staff was right on the ball with getting the I pad purchase completed, and then we were informed that there was no one available to assist with set up of the new device because they closed the Set Up desk at 5:00....but we were welcome to sit at the Set Up desk and figure it out ourselves! We had a service appointment set for 6:35, twenty five minutes after our arrival at the store but we were told they were running ahead of schedule and it would not be that long.....at 6:45 we were finally text to report to the Genius desk for assistance....no one seemed to have any interest in assisting us so my husband approached one of the techs ( two of whom were standing at the next station , apparently it took both of them to set up the phone for the other customers) He was told that someone would be with us shortly and when he asked how long " shortly " would be, he was told " when someone becomes available".....At that point we decided to stop wasting our time and left. I am number one , NOT the biggest fan of any Apple equipment and number two, DEFINITELY not a fan of the give a shit attitude of their staff....I will be posting this review on as many locations as is possible to hopefully prevent someone else from wasting both their time and money on your products or your services. read more

While I would rather go to the Apple store than any other store for diagnostics, repairs, or replacements, for those of us who take the bus, it's really difficult to get too. It took us a flex ride, two buses, and an Uber just to get to Summit Sierra! By the time I got there to have my phone assessed and replaced, I was exhausted! At the same time, they did take care of the issue, Let me sit there until I was able to update my phone so I could use the backup that I had, and then load my apps so that the app that my bus pass is contained on would work. The placement of that store was not the best, especially for those with visual impairments who can't drive, or even other people who can't drive for whatever reason. There is no bus service and never has been. For a company that prides itself on accessibility, it astounds me that they didn't take this into account when deciding where to put the store. It astounds me even more, that it's been there for over a decade and a half, almost 2, and they still haven't moved it to a place that's accessible to those who need it. They moved the store, but in the same shopping center that's impossible to get to, that they were already in. read more

Sold us the wrong colored watch and didn't seem to care. The mechanism of buying or browsing here is not made for humans. You can't just browse, you have to be put on a list. But what if you want to browse without being followed around by a "sales representative" before you even know what you want? Then you get in trouble for not checking in at the front like this is a cable store or something. Then they fight you about the existence of a longer watch band that is clearly listed on the website in front of us and finally they realize and find they do, in fact, sell it. It's not even that the customer service people are bad or badly trained. They seem genuinely nice. But when most just stand in herds and won't help you, and you can't buy small things like cables easily at all, the whole system is broken. read more

Gayle and I have visited Apple's Summit Sierra store on a couple of occasions within the last couple months. Both were during a time where an appointment was required, and we both came out of that experience with great praise and wondering if it could stay that way for a while longer. I was in the market for an iPad, while Gayle was looking for an Apple Watch and with questions on how one purchased for her 90 year-old mother would help her with vitals and emergency situations. I ended up with an iPad Air and Gayle bought here watch. We retuned the next week as I found a better keyboard option and decided to return it. In between was some great concierge service, easy payment (including an old gift card I'd been saving), products that Gayle and I both enjoy, and some good path forward advice regarding what we would need to set up Gayle's Mom. My separate but similar experience with my 92 year-old Dad is that it's important and valuable to distinguish what technology is needed vs. wanting based on societal observation. On that note, I'm appreciative that I received good advice at this Apple Store, rather than being sold something that we weren't yet ready. read more

I came here without an appointment. I got there at opening which was probably helpful. My laptop was having issues and not accepting my iCloud password for some reason. I also wanted to update the OS. The Apple staff were very friendly and helpful. They realized that my software needed updating which was more than likely the reason the password wasn't working. So they helped me update the OS while I was there and voila everything worked again. I was so grateful. I will more than likely have to get a new laptop within the next year or so. I was impressed with how quickly all staff were assisting customers. I'd go back here to get assistance again and/or purchase apple products. read more

I love my apple products. And I really love the support that comes with them. My iPad froze, then went black. After trying everything I found on line to do with no success, I made an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar. It was easy to do online and they had availability the next day. My assigned genius, Gabe was able to bring my iPad back to life within minutes and then told me a few things I could do to prevent it from shutting down again. The whole appointment took about 10 minutes and there was no charge. What a great service! read more

I have only been to this store twice since I moved to Reno. First I needed to get the newest IPad and most recently I needed a phone cover for my 12 Pro. The staff is top notch and I really appreciate the safety protocols that are in place here. When I went for the iPad on 7/7/20 you needed a appointment and they checked your temperature before you entered the store. They kept only 8 customers at a time and we were all socially distanced. The young man was so very helpful with me. He checked out my old IPads battery and my two blocks and two cords. When he couldn't get my iPad to work he just traded me up to the new one. I got a decent rebate on my Pro which was nice...I kept my older blocks and cords since they still were working just fine. My daughter works for Apple so she got me my new phone for the incredible 25% discount which was amazing! We went over to the store last week to get me a cover. We did not have a appointment but as soon as she flashed her badge we were treated like VIPs! I don't like not having a cover because I worry that I will scratch or drop it, so I needed one now! It was cute that some of the employees were asking her about her job at the Infinite Loop location. She was very proud and of course I'm even more so...Apple pays very well but you must work so very hard in return! All the big tech companies are like that, they never want you to leave so they take care of all your needs. Hair dresser, sleep pods, dry cleaner, gourmet food and drink, Day care center, ect. These were the pre Covid days of course. I hope Reno gets another store on the southwest side of town someday. read more

I can't wait for the next email from Apple asking for yet more information, or to re-send information already sent several times, so I can tell them the manager at my local Apple store already solved it. Apple's customer service is a complete joke. I walked in for my 1530hrs appointment at 1507hrs. The kid allegedly checked me in the upfront. I sat and watched as numerous employees walked by and didn't even acknowledge me. Meanwhile, every other random person in the store was greeted and serviced. I waited until 1545hrs and finally got up and asked an employee what was required of me to receive any attention. Of course, I have met the standard a hundred apologies. Byron from the Genius Bar finally assisted me. My phone was submitted, and the insides were replaced. So I returned to the store at 1745hrs to pick up my phone. As I was sitting at the table waiting for my phone to update and restore, I noticed my phone wasn't picking up any service. I brought that to the attention of one of the employees, and she went back to begin to search for my SIM card, which someone forgot to put back in my phone. Once my SIM card was finally recovered, it was close to closing time, and after multiple employees failed to activate my phone, one employee finally told me I would have to go to T-Mobile and get a new SIM card because my phone has a new serial number and the old sim would only work with my old serial number. Luckily the T-mobile store inside the mall was open until 2100hrs, or else I would've been without a phone. Byron was excellent and helpful, but the whole process was a nightmare. read more

I have no issues with the layout of the Reno store, the items in stock, or the overall cleanliness of the store. 5/5 stars for these categories. Where the store loses 4 stars is the extremely poor customer service experience. Knowing that the Apple store can be quite busy, I made an appointment and came up with a list of questions days in advanced. At this point and time I was thinking of which iPhone to purchase. I looked online and saw some of the minor differences between the models but really wanted to know more. As I stepped into the door, the person at the front was very pleasant but the individual that was assigned to assist me seemed like they didn't want to be there from the get go. There was so much unnecessary sighing, eye-rolling, and looks of disinterests throughout my entire interaction with this individual. I'm not asking for a person to plaster on a smile and act "fake" but I think it's appropriate not to make the customer feel like their questions are somehow annoying. The worst part of the interaction was this person didn't have answers to my questions and didn't have suggestions that were insightful. After 10 minutes with this individual, I decided to call it quits. I didn't even get through the list of questions I wanted to ask and spent the next 20 minutes in store by myself looking at and playing with the different models to get the answers I was seeking. Maybe this person was having a really rough day and decided to take it out on me? Either way my entire interaction was not professional or pleasant. When I left, I ended up calling 1-800-MY-APPLE from my car to see if I could get some input and get the remaining answers for my questions. It was like night and day! The person on the phone was so pleasant and patient. They answered all of my questions, gave great suggestions, and even helped me order my phones during the call. The person on the phone was surprised that the person in store didn't take the time to assist me and they even apologized for them on their behalf. The person on the phone went above and beyond and even asked if I wanted same day pick up from the later that evening. Wow, the place was packed. Sales people were rushing to get product out to the throngs of people. Of course the huge number of people could have been the result that this was the first Friday after Thanksgiving. In the ten minutes I was there, I saw two sales completed. Drove 1+ hour to get my iphone repaired here. The chat rep on Apple Support confirmed they could do 1 day service for my specific damage. When I arrived, I was told they didn't have the inventory needed and would have to be ordered. The associate and the store manager took no responsibility for this miscommunication blaming various other parts of Apple. I've been a customer for 30 years. Wait times walk in when your phones is not working then I have to wait 4hrs is super bad

I have been to this location 3 or 4 times over the past year for various reasons. However, two of the last three times I have been here stand out. iPhone 7 issues: Phone crashing several times a day. I made the appointment 1 day before I warranty expired and I was assured that all work done would be covered. I brought the phone in, they just had to do a factory restore (Standard) and give it some time to see if it was fixed. I brought up the warranty concern, and they said not to worry. The phone continued to crash, so I made another appointment. I came in, they ran diagnostics, and promptly replaced the phone indicated that there was an issue with the touch screen sensor. iPhone 6 issues: Phone crashing, battery draining, battery meter not working. We did a factory reset with the online support, prior to coming in. We were lucky, just as the young man came by to help us, the phone crashed, so we could show him what it was doing. He ran some diagnostics, and asked if he could look at the phone closer, in the back. He returned and explained that the battery was swelling and showed us an area on the screen that was bulging. Since this was an issue with the battery that they installed, they replaced the phone with a new one. I am so happy that we have an Apple location in the Reno area, and I am even happier to know that they understand their products, know how to troubleshoot them, and provide great customer service. read more
