I thought it was odd and a poor business practice to ignore a potential customer. Usually, when I bring my 6'3" walking wallet, aka my husband, we are at least greeted. We did not feel pressured into making a purchases and our browsing experience was very enjoyable. There aren't many good chain jewelry retailers in Reno/Sparks, but this is the only place where the sales staff isn't overly pushy and gives good customer service. They let me try on some bands, but unfortunately I wasn't able to purchase one since the lowest size they offer is too large. For jewelry other than rings, I would definitely buy from here. We purchase from this store at least 5 times a year including my engagement and wedding ring. We brought in my engagement ring because is was rough. The sales person gave us a very hard time. She stated that there was nothing wrong with the ring then proceeded to ask several questions. If she had looked us up on the computer she would have the answers to warranty, diamond inspection and when we bought the ring. Finally the assistant manager came to assist and promptly noticed the flaw. This was after 15 minutes of interaction from the sales person. Will not be back. read more

Great store with friendly and helpful staff. My boyfriend bought me a promise ring and we ended up exchanging it for a different style and resizing it. When it arrived at the store, I had to resize it again because it was still too big and I noticed a freckle on one of the diamonds. I did have to wait a few weeks, but it is just part of the process. My dad got my mom a ring here. She had to get her ring resized THREE different times at different Zales stores and no matter what she tells them, they still can't get her ring resized correctly. She hasn't been able to wear her ring for years because she just can't find a solution where she won't have to pay extra for them to get it right. Her last try was at this store and I went with her so I can make sure that they are understanding her correctly because it's a simple resizing and I'm wondering why they can't seem to get it right. We walk in, the ladies seem nice enough. After the lady helped my mom, I asked to be shown diamond bracelets since I've been on a hunt for one. She gave me a rude comment because I didn't wanna yank off the bracelet off my hand. Obviously I don't wanna take it off without her assistance. She told me "It's a bolo bracelet. All you gotta do is do this..." with an attitude. My mom returned to pick up the ring which took two weeks. She calls me since I was out of town and shows me that the ring was the same- no change, the ring was still too big. She said maybe it's because it's "under warranty" and she didn't have to pay for anything that's why she also didn't get the sizing she wanted. So she just bought a fake ring guard so she can finally wear her diamond ring. She gave up dealing with them and took matters into her own hands. I'd go somewhere else if you're gonna buy jewelry. Approximately a month ago I purchased and anniversary band and Ericka McGowan assisted us and she was awesome. An appointment was automatically made for a month after my purshase to go back for "service & repair". I assumed this was to check the ring after a month of wear and make sure it didn't need to be sized or that anything was wrong with the ring. I took a few hours off work for this appointment as I live over an hour away from the store. I arrived a little early and was greeted by one of the rudest customer service people I have ever dealt with. After saying hi she angrily stated that she didn't have 3 seconds to get anything done - i commented that I was early so she could take some time if needed. She didn't and proceeded to bang away on the computer and toss papers around while she asked why I was there. I explained I had an appointment and she asked why, what for - told her and she said that actually the appointment was just to try to sell me a lifetime warranty but of course while she was telling me this she was still complaining about how busy she was, can't get anything done, etc. I mentioned that I had driven over an hour and I just received a very flippant "sorry". She said the ring "service" is at 6 months (yea, not doing that - NEVER going back to this store) and YELLED at me as I was leaving that if I service my ring anywhere else it voids the warranty. I'm mad at myself that I didn't get this woman's name but as I said I've never been treated so rudely and couldn't get out of this store fast enough. Horrible service. Drop my husband ring off for normal warranty maintenance ...which took about 3 weeks. When we came to get it, they dipped it in yellow gold not white gold. Manager was a total prude, think name was Holly...no sorry this happen or anything. She kept saying my husband signed for the service. Guess you better read everything before you sign. You would think a routine drop off you wouldn't have to look so closely. I actually had to speak up and say, "Are you saying your lack of quality check is our fault"? So rude! My husband was looking to upgrade my ring soon and was wanting to get it there. No way, glad my currant ring not from Zales, wish I didn't buy his there. I walked into this store and it is sad not one hello from any of the sales people in this store I don't know if it had to do with my skin color but it sure felt like it because I was in this store for 5 mins and no one greeted me but as soon as a light skinned couple walk into this store they were greeted with hello and given help as soon as they walked in. After waiting over 25 minutes she asked what was the point of appointments if you can't get service? The manager was a total ass to her. His dad wore his ring all the time, well unfortunately the ring was never returned to us. Carly phoned me to tell me of a good sale they were having. We found a beautiful ring for my son. I recently sent out some rings to be fixed by their jewelers and in the shop I was incredibly nervous because these were very sentimental rings. The shop manager assured me in the 8 years she has worked there nothing bad has happened to any rings they have sent out. I agreed on the prices to be sent out and had full intention of paying the fees to get my rings fixed by professionals. About one week later I received a call saying one of the rings broke during the fixing process. It turns out the ring was not made with a stone but stained glass instead. This ring is generations old and my adopted grandmother gave it to me after her grandmother gave it to her son who took his own life. This ring did not have much value other than sentimental value. Zales said they would replace it with an actual stone, a garnet, and they would give me a 10% discount because the stone was upgraded but they understand they broke the original ring. I was incredibly upset and asked them to not do anything and just send the ring back with the original glass. I asked how this happened and they said they are not gemologists so they did not know it was not an actual stone. They said they would get it shipped back without touching it further and we hung up. A few hours later they called me again saying they had already fixed the ring and put the new stone on it and they will be giving it to me for free. At the end of the day the ring was very different than what I sent out, size, width of band, and stone. I do not feel as if this is the ring I sent out and I am devastated. I understand the workers in the shop are not at blame and they tried to do the right thing by replacing the stone but it kills me that my ring is not the one I originally sent in. I do not recommend sending out any rings for cleanings or services through Zales. read more
