    Nevada necklace inside
    Tabitha E.

I was referred to Doug by another jewelry designer in town who didn't work on existing pieces (I plan to design and have her make my wedding ring). I looked him up on Instagram and discovered his shop hours are a tad hard for those who work during the day but he does take appts. He is open 11:30 to 3:30 for store hours. I direct messaged him pictures of my ring. It's nothing fancy, but it's my original engagement ring and I had discovered at some point my diamond had fallen out. I broke the original JC Penny warranty by having another shop resize it, back in 2010, and they left a joint and told me because it was silver they had to leave the joint. Anyways, I told him I was looking to replace the diamond with a sapphire and asked for a quote. He responded by asking me to swing by for more accurate quote. For the gemstone and labor of setting and fixing the joint it came to $105. Which I'm okay with. Almost the cost of the ring originally but sentimental and it is my wedding ring at the moment so i was willing to put the money in. There were some scheduling issues but he is a small business and seems to have a lot of business so I understood. His shop is small but so full of light. Its located next to Natural Selection store on the corner with big windows. It took him a little over a week to get my ring back to me and only because he is swamped. I liked most of his jewelery and he posts his custom work on Instagram. Again the piece for me was existing and I just wanted it fixed and wanted to use a local place. I told my husband about a piece I wanted and he surprised me by going in and setting it aside for when I picked up the ring today. It's the Nevada necklace and I love it. Doug is extremely friendly and makes an effor constantly. He is busy though so you might have a tiny wait before getting to take home your customized masterpiece.

The bottom piece is the finished product. Seriously amazing!!

Worst experience ever! There is plenty of small local jewelers in the area. Save yourself the frustration and loss of money.

I originally found Allison at the Farmer's market last year and bought two rings from her. First,…read morethe rings are stunning. With near daily wear of one of the rings, it has not tarnished or discolored, the stone has not budged in it's bezel. It is excellent quality! I continued to follow Allison on Instagram and was super excited when she posted about silver smithing classes to make jewelry pieces. I reached out in February and asked if she would host a private ring making party for my birthday and it was an instant yes. We picked the date and time and I gave her the guest list. We (and my 5 girl friends for a party of 6) met April 17 at her studio at 515-530 (we trickled in) and were instructed to fill out a waiver and then pick our stones and find our ring size using her ring size key chain thing (very similar to those at jewelry stores). She then walked us through step by step to make the rings. She broke the instructions down into 3 sections and each section had a handful of steps in them. After giving them, she hung out at the soldering (sautering) station as fire can be very dangerous, and we don't want to over melt the metal. Allison was quick and available to answer questions or use her muscle to bend the stubborn thick metal for the band of the ring. I am impressed with how much oomph it takes to get the ring to come close together so it solders well! My friends and I had an absolute blast making our rings. I know I love mine and will probably make this a yearly tradition! I may take some of her other jewelry making classes and see if I can make a matching necklace and earring set to my ring!

Had a great time making rings with friends. Will definitely do this again. Cant wait to take my…read moredaughter here.
