I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon to have one ring re-sized and one ring reshaped. I was greeted and assisted by Erik. He looked at my ring needing to be reshaped and quickly took it to the back, repaired it, and cleaned it - all free of charge. I couldn't believe it but he said it was standard maintenance. We then went to resize my great grandmother's platinum ring. He let me know it could take up to two weeks - and I said no rush. He gave me a quote that had a picture of the ring and all of the information. Two weeks later I picked it up and it was perfect! He did say that hands fluctuate size in the summer so if it needed any adjustments to just stop in. Beyond repair, the shop also has watches, pieces from local artists, and more! Wow! Wow! Wow! I'm so pleased with this shop and their impressive professionalism and honesty. I brought in my engagement ring for a repair (a bent prong) that wasn't the result of work they had done but just general wear and tear and the result of me bumping it on one too many things. Oops. They reassured me that the integrity of the prong wasn't jeopardized and then actually bent the prong back for me, polished and cleaned my engagement ring and wedding band, and sent me on my merry way! They did encourage me to stop by 3-4x a year to have everything looked at so they could identify any problems before they happen and also identified a different prong that should be monitored because it might have some integrity issues. Everyone was so nice and helpful and it truly felt like I was visiting a friend's jewelry shop. I would absolutely trust them to do more in-depth work on my ring and any other jewelry repairs, but I'll also keep them front of mind for future jewelry purchases. Despite their great location in midtown, I will admit I got a little lost looking for the shop. An adventure around the building and up and down the stairs eventually led me to their front door... which was so obvious once I found it. So, just a tip, the entrance is under the stairs that go to Arario and the bridal boutique. It's a small shop, but honestly, just the right size, with very tasteful decor (including a beautiful amethyst table!) and a very pleasing atmosphere overall. Erik took over for his Dad and has done a fantastic job of maintaining the store, even through Covid. They have high end as well as everyday pieces of jewelry and watches. I love their repair shop they do a phenomenal job. They have repaired several pieces for me. I had fun finding some pieces I didn't know I needed. LOL I love my lab created 1 carat wedding ring. No one knows it was lab created. If I purchased a diamond that size not lab created it would of cost well over 25K or more. It is great to not worry about having such an expensive piece because I love to wear my ring everyday and I know that I could easily replace it if it was every damaged or lost. I wasn't sure at first about a lab diamond but Erik helped me find one I really love and continue to get compliments on the size, color and clarity! My favorite thing is how they support local artisans in their shop! It's nice to be able to find unique pieces that are one of a kind. I'm looking forward to passing those down to my grandchildren. it is always great to be greeted by Pippin the shop dog! I visited Midtown Diamonds back in October as a prong on my wedding ring had broke and I was hoping to be able to fix it. My husband had originally purchased the wedding ring at another jeweler that we weren't very fond of, so when it broke we decided to look for another local business that would have some knowledge of the ring/vendor/etc. Erik was extremely knowledgeable about my ring - stones, gold, etc. He professional in explaining my options of fixing it vs replacing the whole ring. Unfortunately due to the type of gold (X1), fixing it with the way that it broke wasn't going to be the best option as it was likely to break again. After further discussion about the fixing process, we agreed that replacing was the best option. Erik went in and looked at prices for the ring with 14k gold as well as replacing the three center stones with Lannyte instead of the original colorless topaz. He was extremely patient with me as I asked multiple questions regarding the ring and he gave my husband and I information our original jeweler never did. I felt way more comfortable about purchasing my ring through Midtown Diamonds than any other jewelry business. Another thing; my wedding band was slightly discolored after a swim at the pool in my gym (oops!) and I was bummed because I thought it was the blue topaz stones that had faded. Erik took a look and assured me it was just the gold, but we could get it cleaned and looking just fine. Skeptical me didn't believe him at the time... Ha! He wins. It looks just as it did when we first purchased it! Anyways, yesterday afternoon I went in to pick up the ring and it is absolutely beautiful. It is way more sturdy than my original and (*girly moment*) way shinier! Erik then explained proper care and when to bring it in to be inspected/cleaned. I am extremely grateful to him for his knowledge and patience in this process. The ring is perfect! Housekeeping Note(s): The store is in a great location in midtown. When you walk in, it is extremely comfortable and clean. The clasp broke off of it, the pendant and stone were bent EXTREMELY out of shape and it was badly scuffed up from being in the road. Eric showed us a very nice, flawlessly cut diamond for my wife's set and she chose the design she wanted the stone set into. My fingers are a bit larger than normal and although his standard vendors did not have my size in stock, he told me he would give the particulars to an outside vendor to provide a lost wax casting that would fit my fat :) finger. Even though he missed his promised date by a week or so, I was glad he did, since he relayed that the first casting he received had bubbling (?) porosity and he refused to accept the one that was sent. I would rather wait for quality, than take something of a lesser quality. Good on him. Also, the dog is really friendly and wanders around, making sure to sniff everyone who comes in, in a very friendly manner. Was Midtown inexpensive? No...Were they outrageously expensive?
